RITA® award winning author! What if she never came home . . . ?When Mitchell Brannon’s beloved wife sets off for home after a conference, he has no idea that his life is about to change forever. Mitch returns from work early that evening, surprised that Jill’s car isn’t in the garage. But her voice on the answering machine makes him smile. “Hey, babe, I’m just now checking out of the hotel, but … of the hotel, but I’ll stop and pick up something for dinner. Love you.” Hours later, Jill still hasn’t returned, and Mitch’s irritation turns to dread.
When the police come up empty, Mitch enlists the help of their next-door neighbor, Jill’s best friend, Shelley, to help search. As hours turn into days and days into weeks, Mitch and Shelley’s friendship grows ever closer—and decidedly more complicated. Every lead seems to be a dead end, and Mitch wonders how he can honor the vows he made to a woman who has seemingly disappeared from the face of the earth.

Have never read a book like this one! Great character building & I could feel the emotions of the main characters in their frustrations. Was a complete experience in great writing!
Deborah Raney is becoming a new favorite writer. I liked the characters — all of them –which made it hard to decide how I wanted things to turn out. It develops realistic struggles with living out one’s Christian faith in tough circumstances.
I highly recommend the book. When Jill didn’t return home from a teachers’ conference in KS, her husband becomes so distraught and is helped by his wife’s best friend who lives next door. I don’t want to ruin the book for anyone; so I won’t tell any more, but you will find it so believable and won’t know until the very end how it all ties together.
This book dragged and went no where fast
Interesting indeed! A love story with a twist.
Incredible. I read The Face of the Earth july 2019. Wow. I’ve read several different authors, different genres, and styles of writing, but this author writes with a remarkable, compelling voice. Her premise is incredible. What would you do if someone you loved appears to have vanished from the face of the earth? After noteworthy attempts to discover clues, her novel reads like a page from the national news. And what does it feel like when no clues are found? And everyone stops believing, searching, or supporting the search? I read with my heart wrenched and rooting for the family. I am forever changed by reading and pondering the questions presented in this brilliant work of contemporary life issues. You must read this book. I am clamoring for more of this author’s work. Well done!
A sweet story with “real” people in a heart wrenching situation. Good character development and plot development. A very worthwhile read.
Great writing; it just wasn’t a mystery or thriller. It was more about everyone’s feelings and thoughts. It dragged terribly. I skipped to the end.
It was an okay read, but I wouldn’t recommend it. When I spend time reading, I want to book to be above and beyond.
This book kept my attention and looking forward to the next page.
I felt that the story dragged a bit, taking too many chapters to finally find that the wife had died. I appreciated the moral compass of the hero who was faithful to his marriage vows in an era when they are not considered to be sacred, but easily discarded.
Enjoyable and well written.
Wow, I never saw that coming!
Oh my goodness I love this author!! I couldn’t put it down. I will read more of her books!!
Mitch’s plight captured me from the first page pulling me into his anguish. Good read.
Good but too dragged out. Slow reading. Kind of boring.
I didn’t finish it. I decided that a book about a man getting involved with a woman while searching for his wife was not the kind of book I wanted to read, even though it was supposed to be “Christian fiction.”
There was far too much repetition.. the same theme over and over. Also, it was easily a book you could lay down.
I enjoyed it.
NOT FOR ME SORRY
