This is a rousing start to one of the best-loved high fantasy epics ever published.
All books in The Wheel Of Time world are fantastic!
Very Awesome. The entire series consisting of 14 volumes is not to be missed Fantasy Adventure, but, it all begins here with a small village in the middle of nowhere. A place filled with strong, honorable people, most of whom no longer remember when their home was known by a different name, A name filled with history. That greatness has been reborn all at once in a handful of youngsters about to change the course of history. One in particular will rise above the rest, for better or worse. And the World hangs in the balance.
This is High Fantasy with a great world unfolding before you – but if you venture into the next 15 books be forewarned that the female characters are often really dreadful, and wow could an editor be used. I am not talking about the long descriptive passages, which are to each’s taste (I liked them), but rather the pointless characters, the endless troop of people with names that sound the same, and the meaningless machinations of the enemy by faceless agents performing deliberately esoteric actions.
The characters are well developed, deep and complex. You want to know more and more about them. The plot is well developed and draws you in.
Found the first 40+ pages hard to get through but then loved the book and series!
Best series I have ever read!!!!
What can I say Robert Jordan is an usurpased master of fantasy. Best word builder.
The first book of a wonderful series . Wonderful characters You feel like you know and like them. I was anxious to read the 2nd book as soon as I finished Eye of the World
I have read the entire series twice now, and have started on the third time. Be ready to spend time with any of the books in the series as a lot character development takes place through most of the books. There is supposed to be a possible TV series in the works. Hope so as it would be a great show!
One of the best fantasy books of the last 50 years.
This series is starting to remind me of Terry Goodkind’s Richard & Kahlan series. Not totally, but I am seeing some similarities. Such as when the Aes Sedai hunt the males with magic capabilities. Book 1 is way better than the prequel, but I’m still not completely hooked. I like the characters better than when I first met them in the prequel. I’m not willing to give up on the series just yet. I found that the disturbing dreams Mat, Rand, and Perrin all have are what drove the story, for me. The conclusion was very climatic, and I loved it! I’ll get through the first 3 books before calling it quits, maybe. It’s still good though, just not great. Yet.
Excellent. It is the first in a series of fourteen books, one continuing story.
I liked this book. I read the whole series of 14 Books in the ebook format. I’ve always liked this genre and am a fan of Tolkein. Jordan creates a universe that is rich and the characters are well developed. I enjoyed the whole series.
Well written and the world and characters are memorable for years. Stories within stories that merge well together.
Interesting premise…but once you read this one…there are 12-13 more books.
this book had me at chapter one. I fell in love with every character. I have read the whole series and I still read them over and over ..
Loved this book.
Epic
I truly enjoyed this book. I have read the whole series because of this first book.
