The beginning is a bit slow when he is setting up the background and characters, but once things start happening it’s a much better pace
The first book in a long saga. Very well done!
1st book of 14. This book is a good start to the series. The author does a nice job of writing the story. There is a glossary at the end which is helpful in all the books that gives details about the people, places and things in books.
Read entire series. 14 books. 4,000,000 words and wanted more.
It’s amazing
This is the first book of his extremely popular Wheel of Time Series. There were 14 books in the series and Mr. Jordan died in 2007 before he had finished the series. Brandon Sanderson finished the last 3 books in the series and did an excellent job. You could barely tell they were written by another author. My rating is based on the entire series which I have read many times. Mr. Jordan was the precursor to George R. R. Martin in that it took him what seemed like forever to finish the series. (Actually, he didn’t; he died first) He started the series in 1990 and had finished in 2005 with book 11 Knife of Dreams.
This is the first book in what ends up being a VERY long saga. I was enthralled with the world and characters created by this author and couldn’t wait to read the next addition to the series. It’s been a long time since I read them so I’m not sure how many books I made it through-maybe 5or 6. The quality seemed to decline as they went along and the brutality became worse. They are very complex books with several story lines in each thick book. Some of them carry on from one book to the other, some don’t seem to at all. I became overwhelmed and no longer found them enjoyable. Sometimes more is NOT better. This book I really liked and also the next 2 or 3. Can’t remember when they started to get tedious. If you like very involved adventure/fantasy reading you will enjoy the early books and maybe some of the later ones too. My son had exactly the same reaction I did-he ended up only reading 4 of them.
A series you don’t want to miss. Wonderful
I love this series! It is a long read though. It can get confusing with all the characters and regions and politics of the world. But if you can stick with it, I think it is worth the time and energy of reading the series.
I very much enjoyed these books. I found the setting to be interesting and well-developed as well as fairly distinct from other “series worlds” that I have encountered. I have to admit that after binging the first half a dozen or so, I did stop for a break and have not gotten back to them yet.
Love this book! Great characters
Love the entire series (13 books)! If I could give these books a 10, I would. Better than Lord of the Rings. Very imaginative, with a large array of in depth characters.
Great read
