It started with an affair; a seven day long, no-strings-attached holiday tryst in Los Cabos, Mexico. Giselle Moore is a naive artist fleeing from her troubled past in Paris, France to a better life with her family in New York City but first, she takes a much needed vacation to seek solitude. Instead, she finds Sinclair, an enigmatic Frenchman who is drawn to her as she is to him and a passionate, … passionate, illicit affair ensues. The last thing she needs in her life is another complication, yet as the week wears on, she finds herself falling in love with Sinclair.
Still, she leaves him behind when she moves to New York City, ready to reunite with her family and begin life anew. If she is a little heartbroken at the prospect of never seeing the cool and dominating Sinclair again, she’s braced for it.
That is, until Sinclair shows up in New York City and she discovers just whom his ‘darling’ girlfriend really is.
Giselle is faced with a choice; family, career and reputation or the love of a man who she should never have fallen in love with, a man that she can no longer picture her life without.

“I have never wanted someone the way I want you.”
“But I don’t like the idea that you could very well change my life.”
The immortal words that are spoken at the beginning. The beginning of it all.
This is not a type of book I typically read but after reading this authors other books I knew I needed to read. There was a lot of sexiness but I was in this for the story, this being the setting of the scene. The mystery was killing me….I had to know!
———————————
OMG….not even the first chapter in and I think I know what will happen! To say I was excited is an understatement!
And I was right! Oh how awkward! But it seems the lovely Elle and Sinclair can’t stay away from each other……’You are here, Giselle , simply and complicatedly, because I miss you.’
My heart broke for Elle, I felt like an interloper on all those people’s lives. I wanted to scream at in parts of this book and I wanted to throttle then cuddle in others!
Oh my blinking gawd, that ending!
——————————-
So now I am starting book 3 I have a vision of how I want this to go….let’s see if I get my wish!
Firstly I loved that we got Sins POV. How he was so in love and it was like it was for the first time. Beautiful.
But the anticipation was killing me! I won’t say why but those who have read will know!
Sin is just everything ‘Mon amour pour toi est aussi plus grand que le monde.’
And, by the way, I got my wish. And now I need Cosima’s story more than I need air! Please tell me that is being written?!
I absolutely love this trilogy so much that I read each individual book and then purchased the trilogy boxed set, too! That’s how great this series is, yes,
GREAT!! This is an absolute must read!
It is relatable and thought provoking. To me, the topic is not only about relationships and their evolution but how each individual evolves in them and through what life throws our way.
The Evolution of Sin Trilogy was my first meeting with the author and I think I’ll be reaching for her books again.
Giselle “Elle” goes on a vacation to Mexico, paid by her friend. On the plane, she meets a handsome stranger who gets her attention. However, shortly after landing, this man disappears without exchanging contacts. The woman decides to focus on having a good time on vacation. Unexpectedly for her, she meets the handsome stranger from the plane again. This time, they’re not about to miss their chance and strike up a hot romance. Despite the fact that the woman knows Sinclar is in a long-term relationship. While their attraction is huge, their time is running out. A woman travels to New York to rejoin her long not seen family, trying to forget about the lover who has turned her head hard. But life can be surprising, even though they didn’t exchange their personal information, they run into each other again. And in the least expected circumstances. They are both very surprised and agree to try to forget about each other so as not to hurt the other. However, it’s not easy – and it gets impossible over time. The feelings they have for each other turn out to be stronger than any doubts. They decide to bet on themselves, though a decision with big consequences they must face. On top of that, Giselle’s past begins to come back to her, or rather the man who once hurt her badly and whom she would like to forget. Can they deal with the consequences of their sins?
I have to admit, I don’t think I’ve read a trilogy like this before, and I’ve read some books on this genre. As far as pluses go, it’s undoubtedly the author’s pen and the portrayal of the topic of betrayal. Which isn’t easy, and she managed to play it in such a way that you look at the prism of the whole event in a completely different way. The whole trilogy was very well thought out and a good read. The work art thread that was into the story was curious and made it more interesting. Nevertheless, I think there were too many erotic scenes, it would have been better to skip over some and thanks to that develop the thread of getting to know the characters better, at least at the very beginning, so that their mutual fascination would be more credible. I didn’t fall in love with this trilogy, but I enjoyed it.
This was one of my favourite series ever. It was so different, the way the story itself unfolded, the secrecy, the taboo and dangerous element present, it captivated me from the very beginning. It was like I was witnessing something bad, dirty, wrong, something that I shouldn’t have seen happening. It was strangely addictive and I loved every word written.
The connection between Elle and Sinclair was impossible to ignore. From the moment they met, it crackled like electricity between them, we could feel it through every interaction, every look, every touch. It was like fireworks.
He helped her overcome her fears while, at the same time, emboldened her. He introduced her to a completely new world to her and helped her embrace her sexuality. And in a way, she did the same to him.
I loved how confident and brazen she became. A siren. It was a journey of self discovery, of owning her darkest cravings and finding her own strength. Strength to be confident, strength to be bold, strength to love.
Their story wasn’t conventional, it was full of secrets and pain, but also growth and resilience. It shows that there is darkness in every love story, and that sometimes you have to break a few hearts in order to fix your own
I love this trilogy as much now as I did the first time I read it.
Yes, this couple starts as an affair with one person in a relationship, and some people might not be able to reconcile that but at its core when you take away all the outside factors this is a beautiful, messy love story. And of course, given the title, this was only supposed to be a holiday affair but as I got swept up in Elle and Sinclair’s story I began to root for them. When the other characters are rooting for them, well except one, it lets you know that Sin wasn’t living his fullest life.
What shocked me was the reveal of book two (the first time I read this). That Sinclair’s girlfriend was someone Elle knew. They try to navigate their feelings at first by avoiding each other but of course, that doesn’t work. This time around their angst really had me in my feels. There were a few scenes that had me putting down the book just to get a breather.
In the last book, they are finally together but it’s not p smooth sailing. Elle has to learn to confront her problems after someone points out that she usually runs. So she meets with her sister and then her mother to tell them she’s in love with Sinclair and that they are together. Her sister says the nastiest things about their smex life and disowns her.
Just go read this. I think I love this series even more after this re-read.
This set has all three books in the trilogy. This series was just beautiful in every way; I enjoyed it so much. Giana’s words are like poetry; she writes beautiful stories.
This trilogy gave me everything; it was complicated, steamy, and such an emotional roller coaster ride; it was full of twists and turns, secrets, drama, suspense, lies, betrayal, and uninhibited passion. The raw desire and love between Giselle & Sinclair were igniting and explosive.
– The Affair (The Evolution of Sin #1)
I fell in love with The Affair, way more than I first expected. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting.
Elle is an artist; she’s moving from Paris to New York, but she takes a little break in Cabo San Lucas. Although she planned on a simple and relaxing vacation, Elle runs into an irresistible man on the plane called Sinclair, and it only takes a moment for her to feel an inexplicable attraction towards him, something she has never felt before.
Sinclair is a powerful and handsome Frenchman. Sinclair is someone who tries to settle rules on every aspect of his life, both business and personal. However, rules can be broken and sadly for him, Giselle is the perfect person to prove that theory; she is someone that tempts him to break every single one of his rules.
Their holiday affair was supposed to be a week of unbridled passion with no strings; Sinclair has a longtime girlfriend, and Elle knows, but they can’t stay away from each other. The point is to enjoy one another and share nothing personal. And after that week, go back to their lives, but lines get blurred easily; nothing is ever that clean or easy when you can’t help but fall in love.
– The Secret (The Evolution of Sin #2)
A continuation of a series. You must read book one to read this story. This one starts where book one leaves off. This book has had me holding my breath all day; I felt every emotion of the characters.
Elle comes home to her family with a renewed heart and heartbroken for her sexy Frenchman. But while nothing seems to change from her family, good or bad, a bomb will drop right in her face. She finally discovers who is the women in Sin’s life.
Sinclair is trying to hold it together but failing miserably; he can’t stand that Elle is within his grasp, but he can not reach her. The love between Sinclair and his siren is all-encompassing; they both know that what they are doing is wrong and hurtful, their attempts at resisting the pull are futile.
Giselle & Sinclair forbidden romance journey continuous; they both try to stay away, do the right thing, but it becomes impossible for them. Elle does not want to hurt her sister or her family, but Sinclair is not someone she can give up; it’s hard watching the one you love with another or not being able to be together without huge sacrifice; no matter the choice, someone gets hurt.
– The Consequence (The Evolution of Sin #3)
The final book in this trilogy, a fantastic continuation and the perfect ending; we finally got answers to every question. I was all over the place with my emotions in this story.
Elle, sweet and caring, yet sometimes apprehensive; Elle has finally learned to find strength within herself and chase after happiness, finally deciding that happiness together was the only option they could live with, she must live with the separation between herself and her family.
Sinclair is everything, a flawless combination of aloof and sweet, dominant and romantic, daunting yet captivating; he is an addiction difficult to turn away from, a person you cannot escape and stop yourself from falling deeper in love with.
The dynamics between this couple was electric; there was a true exchange of power as they explored BDSM. Giselle & Sinclair have set out on a tumultuous journey that brings pain, anguish, and angst by the bucket load. Together they made a formidable couple, and their love knew no bounds as they overcame all the obstacles that conspired to keep them apart.
Overall, The Evolution of Sin Trilogy was a great read. Giselle & Sinclair have an intense and captivating connection. Definitely, a must-read series.
Everything that Giana Darling writes is beautifully provocative and consuming, but I’ll admit, I had been hesitant to dive into the Evolution of Sin Trilogy- into a love story that I knew would be beguiling and beautiful but one that starts from an action that many consider ugly – a love story that starts from cheating. But, with this amazing new boxset cover and Giana blessing fans with additional content to give even more complexity and story nuance to an already well loved series, I knew it was time to dive in. Because Giana Darling is an author that has proven to poetically and boldly confront and examine the less “acceptable” forms of love- love that is more epic, more challenging, more complicated than the average love story. And in doing so, her love stories always feel more real, more visceral, because they are more hard fought.
And Sinclair and Giselle definitely have a hard fought love story- two imperfect souls who find each other in one another’s orbit but whose different backgrounds and world views aren’t the ONLY barrier. I can tell you now- if cheating is a trigger for you, this series most certainly won’t be for you, but if you’re like me, open minded but self-aware enough to know that this is a trope that often isn’t your favorite, one that you have a hard time stomaching unless it is done with “care” and done “well”, then take a chance. And, there are added dynamics here as well as BDSM plays a part of their relationship as well.
Their story starts with an affair, spawned by an undeniable attraction and chemistry, a connection that was only supposed to be temporary. But, fate brings them back together, and a complicated, messy angsty love story unfolds. One that tugged at my heart, challenged my mind, broke me and healed me- and swallowed me whole. There’s a lot of unexpected twists, with mystery and emotional complexity beautifully weaving together in a sensual but complicated narrative that works up towards the inevitably explosive and heart wrenching finale.
The characters are transfixing- mesmerizing. Giana has always been such a soulful character writer, and it amazes me that this was her first series. Sinclair is delicious- a complicated and arrogant man that thrives on control. He’s sexy and domineering in his protectiveness, in the way he takes control. And Elle is the kind of heroine I find so fascinating- a softer, sweet and nuanced woman, plagued by her own insecurities and baggage. Together they are magnetic- deliciously forbidden, complicated and explosive. And so very passionate. I could not stop rooting for them, even when I did not agree with their actions, but I felt their connection so deeply, I was as consumed by it as they were.
Like with all Giana stories- her lyrical and poetic style of prose amaze me. She has the profound ability to tell stories that are emotively visceral, that are raw and gritty, in writing that is technically so artfully composed. You can’t help but marvel at the natural ease and classic beauty of her writing style- creating a reading experience that is both immersive and moving. Simply put, this woman is an artist with words.
Despite the catalyst of this love story, I found myself loving it- justifying it, understanding it, even excusing it. And that is part of the magic of Giana Darling- not only does she demonstrate what true, soulful love can be by giving her characters the most challenging of obstacles to being together, but she also challenges our conceptions of what love is “right” and what love is “wrong.” I never leave a story of hers not feeling like I more deeply understand the emotion- both platonic and romantic, I never close a Giana Darling without feeling like I see love with new and fresh eyes. And that is what the Evolution of Sin did here- made me see a “sin” as something right because it lead to something. “Right” or “wrong” this is a love story for the ages, and I’m glad I took a chance on a trope that isn’t always my thing.
I loved this trilogy! I was instantly hooked on Giselle and Sinclair from the moment they met on the plane. There was just back and forth statement in what is book one in the trilogy that confused me cause Giselle said one statement and then a few chapters later she said the opposite but then later on back to the original statement which annoyed me but overall I loved this trilogy!! The connection these two have is instant and when they meet again after there holiday affair they both know they are in deep trouble if what happened in Mexico doesn’t stay in Mexico. Only problem is there love is rooted to there bone but Giselle just got her family back and doesn’t want to lose them
The Affair
What happens when you’re just a girl going on vacation and meet a sexy man that offers you a week long passionate holiday affair? A ‘no strings attached” relationship full of steam? You go for it, right? You only live once, right?
Elle is presented with an offer she doesn’t refuse, a week long fling with a sinful man who is already attached. But can she keep her heart out of it or does she end up falling for a man that is not available to her?
The Secret
Elle comes back from vacation and the unimaginable happens. The man of her dreams, the man she spent a week on vacation with in a steamy affair is standing right in front of her.
What does she do when she realizes who this man’s woman is? Does she follow her heart and risk hurting those around her or does she suck it up and deal with the pain in silence.
The Consequence
Now that the secret is out and Elle has decided that she will go where her heart leads her, can she accept the consequences that come along with it? Will others be understanding of the wrongs no one wanted to commit? Can all be forgiven?
The Evolution of Sin Trilogy was eloquently written. Sometimes we can’t help what the heart wants. Sometimes we need to risk it all to follow our hearts. That’s what Elle and Sin finally succumb to, they follow their hearts because no matter how much we don’t want to hurt the other people in our lives, we need to go for it and make ourselves happy. I love how detailed this book was written. Gianna had a way of describing every scene beautifully from a stroll through Paris to the secrets of the underground BDSM world. I was captivated from the first page until the very last.
Highly recommended for those that don’t mind affairs in their books and sensual steam. Not a dark read like I am used to but definitely a brilliant read.
This was my first book by this author, and it was such an amazing and unexpected reading experience.
I often try to find and read books that are out of my comfort zone, different genres and with various topics. And this book was definitely one of those.
The only thing that I knew when I started this book, was that I adored the cover. Anyone who knows me can confirm that if I like the cover, for sure I’m gonna read the book.
What I didn’t expect, was how much I was gonna like it. After the first chapter I was a goner.
It was like stepping down the rabbit hole, losing myself in the story and the characters. I spent the whole day reading, I could not put the book down. I was hooked from the beginning, lost in the story, and I didn’t want to come back to reality.
If I had to summarize the book in one word, that would be WOW!
It was an emotional rellercoster that gave me all the feels and left me wanting for more. Giana Darling did an amazing job with this trilogy and characters. I could not get enough of them.
I need to bath in holy water for like a week straight after reading this book.
This trilogy is so hot, full of smut and steamy moments (Christian Grey could seriously learn from our Frenchman), but also has angst, fluff and great characters.
The writing is so good and on point, detailed when needed, the story is not rushed and the whole book can be read so easily.
Giselle, this beautiful and talented painter, won my heart from the very beginning. I knew that I was gonna like her moments after starting the book.
At the beginning she is shy and introvert, afraid to speak her mind and fight for what she wants, but as the book goes on, she changes so much. I loved seeing her finding her voice and strength, finally learning how to love herself and believe in her. She transformed into an amazing, beautiful, sassy woman, who is not afraid to speak her mind and fight for her dreams and for her loved ones.
I found so much of myself in her, and because of that I could so easily reason with her and understand why she did it.
She was afraid to live, and that is exactly what Sin showed her. How to live, to dare and to dream. How to embrace her sexuality, and how to blossom in the beautiful woman that she is. He gave her the strength to survive her traumas, and become the best version of herself.
“ , ’ .”
Sinclair, he is tall, dark, handsome and dangerous, and he knows it.
I liked how his character was built, he is smart, has no filter, always on top of every situation. He was everything Ella needed in her life.
I could understand the reasons behind his affair, why he did it, and I appreciated that he tried to make it work with his girlfriend. Even though it was clearly for everyone around him that he loved and adored Elle, he still tried to salvage his relationship. He know he made a commitment to Elena, and he tried to be the man she needed. But you can’t salvage something that is doomed, and their relationship was exactly that.
I loved seeing him with Elle, he was a completely different persona when he was around her. She challenged him to be a better man, she didn’t tried to change him, she accepted him with all the bad and the good, and she loved him unconditionally. She didn’t try to slay his demons, she played with them.
I know that there are many that would condone their actions and their relationship, but you can’t chose who you love. Love comes when you least expect it, and it does not ask for permission.
You can be with someone for years, and meet the one who turn your world upside down. A person can make you feel a lot in a short period of time, than other person in years.
When you find your soulmate, you fight tooth and nail for him\her. We are on the Earth for a short period of time, and we definitely should not be spending it with the wrong person.
In the end, love always wins, no matter how hard life tries to stop you. You fight!
This book was nothing like I was expected, it gave me all kind of feels. I went from crying to laughing, then onto some screaming at my tablet, just so that in the end I ended up a puddle of emotions.
I was left wanting for more, and for sure I’m gonna check out all the others books of Giana.
If you’re looking for an intense suspenseful unconventional romance without interruption…this is it!
The Affair, the Secret, the Consequences. The titles say it all as this trilogy is put into 1 box set for guaranteed binge reading goodness!
The writing was strong, the plot well paced and unique.
The heart wants what the heart wants regardless of the consequences!!
The build up, the suspense surrounding this forbidden love affair made this series totally unputdownable!
The Evolution of Sin is my first read by Giana Darling and I couldn’t get enough of this story. He asked for her to be his for seven days. Downside is he’s already taken…as much as Elle tries to resist him…Sinclair is hungry to persuade her. Promises made back home are forgotten when this forbidden romance takes off into a world that neither of them expected. The rules are not last names…no talk about family or friends…no “getting to know each other” and after seven days they walk away no strings, no feelings and no connection! Can they do it? Will seven days be enough or will both their worlds come crashing down around them? I received a free advanced copy to read and review. I loved it…I’m not one for cheating so I had a hard time to being with…but Giana drug me kicking and screaming into Sinclair and Elles life of sin.
Trilogy
Book One, The Affair
From Paris to Vancouver to Los Cabos, Mexico on an enforced vacation we meet Giselle Moore. During the layover in Vancouver a sharply rugged man, Sinclair, wrapped in French charm, interjects himself into her life. An agreement is made to have a Holiday Affair during their time in Cabo. Hidden behind false prefixes and secrets, the affair begins.
Her family life and background it’s quite sordid and confusing for a while with tidbits fed to the reader along with his past and present.
This is written in a heartbreaking, sweet romance. Star-crossed lovers filled with joy, lust, ecstasy, desperation, longing, and fear.
Book Two, The Secret
Book one ended on the eve of their last night together in Cabo and book two opens when Giselle lands in JFK airport for her future in New York City as it changed, confident and sexy woman.
Finally, back with her family after five years of separation, Elle and Sin find out about a horrific connection in between themselves.
Consequences bedamned, no matter how much they try and keep apart, like a moth to a flame, or sailor to a siren. They come crashing together in hot sweaty lust and love. Barriers stand in their way, secrets start getting spilt, they are noticed.
Book Three, The Consequence
Sinclair having made his choice to split from Elena, whisks Giselle off to Paris. Finally, we also get to read Sinclair’s POV. While he is thrilled to continue his BDSM choices and life with Giselle, he’s unsure if the reasoning behind it is enough to stay in that lifestyle or change.
The consequences start unfolding from their home life, his businesses, and Giselle’s past which embroils her in two similar yet different love triangles. The struggles were monumental for them to overcome notify any type of HEA to happen.
Book three out of the trilogy I feel is more sensual than the other two. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still lots of steamy and BDS moments in book one and book two, but book three delves a little bit more into it to allow it to blossom and bloom into their relationship.
The author paints a vivid picture of our two main characters throughout and all the sub characters (Giselle’s siblings and Sinclair’s friends) who per chance will have their own stories for about. The extended epilogues also tease you about one of the sisters is storylines that helps evolve her past her own scarred life.
I read these individually and what a lucky reader you are to have them all in one place. Here is a compilation of my reviews
What a great start and premise to this book being a holiday affair. Elle is trying to get away and just relax and meets the irresistable SInclair (swoon). SInclair is the perfect alpha character who I fell for almost from the beginning with his dark delicious ways.
This book takes you on an amazing ride and I need more and need it now
“We did a bad thing,” he repeated. “So, maybe we aren’t the best people, but I do not really fucking care. I would rather be a villain with you than a good person with anyone else.”
OMG this was so good. I felt a little bad and naughty for cheering on the main characters while as we can tell by the blurb they are together while cheating. But dang that plot twist had me with my mouth open. Amazing. Great storyline, sex scenes were hott!! Some scenes were hard to read: TW: mentions grooming, sexual assault, and it has scenes that are a bit hard to read. Also the main characters dabble in BDSM. Also dang Dante is Hot AF and I can’t wait to read more of him.
ARC provided by Candi Kane PR in exchange for a review.
The Affair
Giselle and Sinclair are two forces of nature. It seems impossible that they wouldn’t be together. From the first moment that he intervenes in the plane it feels like kismet, like life would keep intervening until the intended result happened. As their affair played out over the days in Mexico, it was impossible not to notice how Elle came out of her shell, gradually becoming more confident in herself. Neither seemed able to deny that they wanted more…
The Secret
When Elle and Sin come face to face with each other again they’re forced to confront everything that happened in Mexico. The reality is that what was born there could never be contained there. Things in NYC have never been perfect between Sin and his darling. Now to get what they both want they’re going to have to make painful choices that will change both their lives. Will they continue to hide from their truth or will they step into the light and claim the love they really long for?
The Consequence
The first two books were amazing, but this one just entrenched itself in my heart. The beauty and passion in Elle and Sin’s fierce love is something to behold. Everything comes full circle, and I was reminded about my first thoughts… Their love was inevitable. Nothing was keeping these two apart.
Reading this for the second time didn’t diminish the love that I had for this trilogy or this author. If anything, It made me fall in love with her innate ability to turn common things like words into art. So often, this author is remembered for her MC series but often fails to remember her for creating this epic story between Giselle and Sinclair. That is a shame because what she has done in this trilogy is nothing short of a miracle.
I am not a fan of how this started out between them. I have personally experienced it and I can say that it is heartbreaking. However, when I put those feelings aside and just thought about it from the standpoint that love is messy and doesn’t always color in the lines it clicked. The author didn’t condone what Sinclair and Elle did but she did artfully display the emotions, as well as the consequences of the decision they made and that, was powerful.
I loved the bonus content. They gave me a peek of how things evolved, how things will come about, and also gave me a glimpse into the future of Sin and Elle that I didn’t even know that I needed. Bravo for that. As much as I love the Fallen Men MC series, I think I will always be a little partial to this trilogy because it was the first time that I discovered this author and it was also the first time that an author made me change my mind on something that I had as a firm no. that takes skill and this author has it in spades. After reading this epilogue, I am very anxious for Elena and Dante’s story coming next month. VERY anxious.
The Affair
4.8 stars
I loved this story. Even the idea of both Sin and Giselle making the decision that they did knowing the morals behind it still didn’t stop me from getting caught up in the magic of what was happening between them. Sinclair was a dream and Elle needed this to go from duckling to swan.
I’m looking forward to part two after this book ended on the mother of all twists.
The Secret
4.7 stars
This author’s words are like what I’d imagine Crack to be. She is addictive and sucks me deeper and deeper into her world. Sin and Elle. Le sigh… I cannot wait to read the conclusion.
The Consequence
4.9 stars
To say that I loved this series would be an understatement. Something that stood out to me throughout it was the idea that it was so wrong to love this so much knowing what was at stake for so many people. However, halfway through I realized this is not as much about what is morally right or wrong but really is a matter of love not caring who it is that makes one’s heart complete. It posits whether or not it would have been more wrong to deny that said love in order to make others more comfortable. In this case, both Sin and Elle felt sadness and regret hurting others but, ultimately, they loved themselves and each other more. They were willing to sacrifice it all to keep that love that made them whole. There is beauty in that.
These two did not stand a chance once they each discovered that in front of them was their dual flame. They were cut from the same cloth. Fate had planned for this and they were just along for the ride.
Giana’s debut trilogy is getting a new look and some new content! I was so grateful to be granted a copy of the re-release so that I could have the perfect opportunity to re-read this trilogy before we get Elena and Dante’s story in When Heroes Fall.
Check out my more detailed thoughts below…
The Affair: Giselle grows so much over the course of just one instalment in this series. She starts as this young, inexperienced, virgin who has spent her life running away from her problems. The reader cannot help but find Giselle likeable, there are aspects of all of us in her really. Which makes it so awesome to see her begin to find her voice and ask for what she wants. The reader cannot help but question this affair as Sinclair never hides that he’s in a relationship, meaning that Giselle makes the choice firmly to be the other woman, to be a homewrecker. The way Giana writes this story almost makes you excuse the cheating, you cannot help but be torn apart as you really begin to see how Sin and Elle bring out the best in each other. Elle is bolder and Sin is happier. Their chemistry is off the charts, their scenes together are just delicious! – 4/5 stars
The Secret: The second book has this air of sadness over it, it sits on Giselle and the reader’s shoulders. You go from the bold and bright Mexico version of Elle, to the Bambina of the Lombardi family. In a way, her family almost stunts her, as if she is a butterfly with her wings clipped. New York is definitely better than it was in Italy but there is a reserved and restricted nature to Giselle in The Secret. From Giselle’s perspective, she really does seem like the odd one out in the family. But perspective can be telling. It is super interesting to read her relationship with Cosima and how Giselle sees them as extremely close. While us avid Giana Darling readers know just how much Cosi is keeping from Giselle. If you don’t know do yourself a favour and read The Enslaved Duet. Sinclair and Giselle have an attraction unlike anyone else. Which made their relationship really frustrating in this book. To watch Sin stay in a relationship that makes him unhappy makes you as a reader want to pull your hair out. – 4/5 stars
The Consequence: I genuinely think this is a really interesting series but I do lose some of my love for it in the third and final instalment. And most of my issues stem from Mr. Daniel Sinclair. Sinclair does some extremely questionable overly protective and controlling things. I’ve read this twice, with a lot of life experiences in between and yet I cannot get behind some of the things he did. Reading The Consequence makes me so excited for an Elena redemption arc. It became even more and more obvious as the story went on that she had no spark with Sinclair, and I am so freaking excited to see her fall for Dante.
The tropes in this trilogy are not for everyone, which is perfectly okay, we all have our likes and limits, but if you give it a chance (if you haven’t read anything like it, you should/could read Vlad by K Webster first as an introduction), it will be impossible to put down. Sinclair has a filthy and dominant side, he saves it for his siren, but he also has a swoon worthy and adorably kind side to him. His words and acts will leave tingling and swooning. He is possessive, protective and is determined to get what he wants, it creates such incredible scenes and chemistry with Giselle, but when things go south and so wrong, he puts aside for a little bit, though he grows to not like her as much as he did, he makes sure that his former girlfriend is okay and cares for her in another way. That was another thing about him, I love him and Giselle so so much, but I loved, especially at the end of The Consequence and in the extended epilogue — that extended epilogue was incredible, how he cared for his ex and how he’s happy that she’s getting the love and happiness she deserves. I loved Giselle and her growth throughout the trilogy as well. She is a sweet, loving and protective, especially when it comes to others judging Sin’s darker side, woman, but like her man, as their romance progresses, she gets more confident and is confident in what she wants. She still has that gentle, sometimes shy, side to her, but after being with Sinclair for a while, becomes his kind and dirty-loving queen. One of the other main things I loved was the plot. In most forbidden love romances I have read, the friendship between the hero and heroine is so cute, but when they get together, there are less swoon worthy moments – this is not the case in the Evolution of Sin trilogy. The scenes that make your heart warm, steamy, tension filled moments and the drama that comes with trying to be together do not stop. There is no moment in this story where you won’t be either screaming, blushing, grinning, swooning or sitting at the edge of your seat. It is steamy, romantic, frustrating at times, emotional, so addictive, suspenseful and so captivating. I highly recommend this phenomenal trilogy!
I’ve individually rated and reviewed all books in this box set.
In short. This book trilogy is smoking hot, well written, and I highly recommend
