Ambitious. Intense. Irresistible. I never wanted to fall for a man. And definitely not two men. They tear me apart until I don’t know how I’ll ever be whole again. Until I’m not sure I want to be. THE EVOLUTION OF MAN by Skye Warren is book Two in the Survival of the Richest series. This continues the story of Christopher Bardot, Sutton Mayfair and Harper St. Claire. I strongly feel you need to read the previous book to full enjoy this one. This book starts a few months after the first one ended. Harper is going through a painful time in her a life but is coming out stronger than ever. Harper works through her feelings for Chris and Sutton. With this writing I felt that she could be with either but my feelings leaned toward Chris. One thing for sure this book took you on a lot of emotions that kept me turning pages until the end.
Amazing conclusion to this series. I have been #teamchristopher the whole time!! Skye never disappoints. She has amazing characters and for sure knows how to pull us in and never let us out. I am sad to see this series end, but was super happy to have had the chance to read it.
Life is hard and we all have to find our way. A death of a parent is never easy and finding your true love and listening to your heart is even harder.
The Evolution of Man is the exciting conclusion in the Survival of the Richest Series. It’s dark, conflicting and absolutely addicting. I loved every moment of it. The push and pull between Harper, Christopher and Sutton drove me mad, made my heart beat fast and me fall utterly in love with them all.
There were so many angsty moments that left me gasping and my heart fluttering. I ached and rooted for them all at the same time. I felt like there was enough added elements that I was constantly trying to guess what they were up to and what was going to happen next.
The biggest surprise was just how emotionally connected I felt to them. Sure, I loved them in Survival of the Richest but there was something about the vulnerability of all of them in The Evolution of Man that just pushed my emotional connection to the fullest. I was so invested in their story and I wanted nothing but for every one to be happy.
One this that is always consistent is the flow of Warren’s writing and this was no exception. Everything flowed smoothly and the transitions were executed beautifully. I read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.
If you like angst and you want to feel emotionally invested then The Evolution of Man and the Survival of the Richest Series is exactly what you needs. It will make you feel. It will make you hurt but above all it will make you love.
This book is super intense with so many emotions, happy, sad and heartbreaking as you read what these characters are going through each inside their own turmoil of life with their own demons of acceptance and love and choices. Christopher, Sutton and Harper were very complicated and fought so hard to just do the right thing but what is it and to be able to accept decisions that were so difficult and hurtful to each other I was torn up by them, it was heartbreaking and full of so many twists and turns that they faced it seemed like a big game but its not these characters feelings and actions were real and very painful as they find their way. Harper was so strong and her choices were hers and what she thought was right as she came to realize the truth was there all along and seeing her acceptance and pain made it all that much better. I loved Christopher and Sutton and felt their pain and heartbreak and routed for both through it all. I loved it and would love to see inside both of their minds and their POV .
Thank you for your review.

The love triangle between Christopher, Sutton, and Harper gets more complicated as they each go their own way. The combination of all their energy is like a volcano about to erupt with the undercurrents that cannot be ignored.
As Harper’s mom continues to succumb to cancer in her, Harper’s fight for the crumbling library continues. She has paid dearly for the building and the 5 acres of land that go with it. No one will agree to help her; all saying the building should be condemned and brought down. Is Harper fighting a losing battle trying to help the library survive? Is this her means of fighting the inevitable just like her desire for her mom to fight the cancer that is consuming her body?
The final confrontation between our characters is not to be missed. In the end, acceptance is the only way to survive.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
3.5 Stars – Couldn’t keep the magic of the first book.
I anxiously awaited this sequel because I desperately wanted to know how this love triangle was going to end. Survival of the Richest was the first book I’d read by this author and I loved it so much that I was a little disappointed that book #2 had lost some of the magic from the first one although it was still captivating at times. I was especially intrigued by Sutton and couldn’t wait to find out who Harper was going to choose in the end and hoped that there wasn’t a bad outcome.
Although there were some very emotional parts that broke my heart and brought tears to my eyes, I couldn’t give this book a higher rating. The story was turning in a circle and dragging for most parts of it. The last 20% were the ones that had my heart, although the ending was very sudden und not satisfying enough for me. It’s not that there was an open ending but it just happened so quickly without any explanation or confession of anybody. That’s not how a love triangle should end for me. Not if it doesn’t want to leave me frustrated.
I was slightly annoyed at Harper that she acted so selfish because she wanted Christopher but kept Sutton close all the same. She obviously would have acted differently with Sutton if Christopher wasn’t in the picture and I believe that she wouldn’t have looked twice at Sutton then. This really saddened me because he was my favorite person out of those three.
And the icing of the cake was that Christopher was never nice to Harper and even said something horrible and mean, although he had the decency to apologize afterwards, but she only had eyes for him, whereas Sutton was nothing but a good man compared to Christopher. Still, Harper couldn’t understand that the only ‘bad’ thing Sutton did was only meant to keep her from hurting. So, why couldn’t she forgive him? She was only ever angry at him and had her eyes set on Christopher. This wasn’t even anything new as the same was true in the first book but it annoyed me nonetheless. Harper was desperate for attention no matter from whom. This woman was insincere and selfish through and through.
This book wasn’t much of a romance story though it was well written and the characters were intriguing, but they still didn’t know what they wanted. The author obviously knows how to write push and pull scenes and the sex scenes were very hot!! There was a lot of physical attraction but lacking in emotions as the characters were all rather closed up. I have to admit that I understood the pent up emotions, that there were feelings locked up and hidden, anger and sorrow, unrequited love, the pain of love and loss. The hurt of life. But the ending was too sudden and I did not know where the love suddenly came from because there was none in the entire book.
I had been waiting so patiently for this book. The fantastic ending to the Survival of the Richest Series.
The Evolution of Man is the continuing story of Harper, Christopher and Sutton. What made this story really grab me was the grittiness, the down and dirty, the hurt and loss. It made my heart bleed.
I could feel the emotional turmoil of the artist in Harper. I could feel the heartbreak in Sutton. I could feel the vulnerability that Christopher kept hidden so well.
The library was such a good metaphor for this story. The beauty, the destruction and the truth of being able to fix what was broken.
This story was deep, you have to savor the words like a fine wine. Ms. Warren really grabs you by the soul in this story. She drags you through her words and makes you feel, which is a true testament to a fine story teller.
The final chapter was beautiful. It was rich in imagery and a beautiful end to such a tragic tale.
This story and the other stories in this series were phenomenal! I cannot wait to see what Ms. Warren comes out with next! (You may get something sooner, rather than later…that’s the only spoilerish thing you will get from me!!)
The Evolution of Man is full of hot sexy times, romance and mindgames galore. But like a typical Skye Warren book she leaves you gasping for breath and on pins and needles in anticipation. I loved this conclusion and seriously never wanted it to end!
Skye is a a brilliant writer in that she makes you feel every emotion in this story. My heart ran the gamut of emotions from being happy to overwhelmingly heart broken. I smiled and teared up in the same breath and could not get enough. When we last saw Harper St. Claire, her heart was torn in two directions between Christopher Bardot and Sutton Mayfair. And boy did this author kill me with the conclusion! I found my heart moving in so many directions and rooting for everyone. I ached for both men but for Harper more as she was suffering the impending loss of her mother and being more confused than ever.
Without giving away any spoilers, the Evolution of Man is of course a brilliant love story of a woman caught between two men. But more importantly, this novel was perfectly written as we see Harper metaphorically personified so aptly in the story. She has come into her own and knows who and what she wants and deserves. Like her hope for the destroyed and wrecked library on the verge of collapse, Harper eventually shines and is brought back to life after much hard work, determination and love.
Gah!! This story was magical and everything I have come to expect and love from this author. Pure writing gold filled with heartmelting swoons, angst and a lovestory of the ages. It is pure Skye Warren gold and a story befitting the Queen we have rooted for since The Pawn. And the man who eventually wins her hand? He was her true King in my opinion – the man who always deserved her even when he doubted it himself. Bravo! 6 stars! ~Ratula
This one was okay for me. It has the angst like the first one and I liked the ending.
