With Michele Pariza Wacek’s series conclusion, The Evil That Was Done, the Redemption Series is brought to a wonderfully satisfying end, though we’ll miss each and every one of the characters, especially Uncle Charlie and Oscar, who was such a hero in this latest novel. In the series finale, a stalker comes to Redemption, and Becca makes a stunningly large number of idiotic moves by trying to prove things on her own and soon gets way in over her head when it becomes apparent someone is very adeptly try to frame her for not one, but two murders.
The past also rears its ugly head when a thirty-year-old skeleton is found in Aunt Charlie’s basement, and Becca is visited in her dreams not only by Aunt Charlie, but with Jessica accompanying her. As usual, the clues Aunt Charlie gives Becca are a puzzle and never a straight answer, so she has no clue what is meant when she’s told to “find the jade” and then to “find the evidence.” But she’s warned repeatedly that her life is in grave danger and that time is running out.
I was pleased how the author was able to answer so many of the questions that had come up throughout the three-series novels and was very surprised at the very end section concerning Daphne, a character I enjoyed thoroughly during the novels. Will definitely miss the series and wish there were more to read. Definitely recommend!
Wow!! What a conclusion to an amazing series. There was so much suspense throughout. I read this book in one day! This is a very entertaining series and I highly recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review
Oh My Goodness! This has been a great series from Michele P.W. and I am glad to have the chance to read them.
The Evil That Was Done is the third and final instalment of the Secrets of Redemption series and it MUST BE READ IN ORDER! I will try keep this as spoiler free as possible.
Becca once again find herself piecing her life together after the events of book see her memories of Jessica come flooding back. Her husband in jail is dragging his feet regarding divorce and we find out that he has siphoned off some of her trust fund, leaving her with little money, she takes in her friend Mia and Chrissy her stepdaughter as room mates and it would see that life is looking up., what with Jessica’s killer also in jail. That is until she starts dreaming about Aunt Charlie and this time Jessica is there!
My frustrations with Becca were ten fold in this book – she really made some totally bad judgement calls, and once again ignored the clues her Aunt and Jessica were giving her! If only she had listened then maybe she wouldn’t be a person of interest in a murder!
Once again I had an notion who was behind it all and I was super happy that I was right, but I had no idea just how insane and revengeful this person could have been! Yeah this book will definitely keep you toes, there are lots going on but it all flows seamlessly.
5 stars
When I started reading this story, I could not put it down. I read the book in one day. This author is an awesome writer. I can not wait to read more of their books. Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
The Evil That Was Done is the long-awaited third book in Michele PW’s The Secrets of Redemption Series. With that being said, this is a series that must be read in order beginning with the first book It Began With a Lie, which was released in September 2018, then moving on to This Happened to Jessica, which was released in November of 2018. So you see, I have been patiently (well, not really) waiting for seven months for The Evil That Was Done. I have recommended this series to two friends, outside of all of you, who have LOVED it. I was so excited to receive the ARC that I had to read it right away so while my family was fishing down at our dock, I was sitting on the back porch reading and lost track of time. All of a sudden, I was at a very intense portion of the book when I realized that I was alone outside in the dark and got a little freaked out. Enough about me, let’s chat about The Evil That Was Done.
We pick up in Redemption with Rebecca in a period of transition for lack of a better word. Her husband (soon to be ex) is dragging his feed with the divorce. Her cousin, CB, is in prison for the murder of Jessica, whose body still hasn’t been found. Her parents are demanding for Rebecca to return to New York and pick up on her old life there. She has taken in two roommates – her best friend Mia and her stepdaughter Chrissy. And wouldn’t you know it, there’s another missing person and Daniel’s ex-fiance is being stalked.
Unfortunately, Rebecca once again finds herself having “dreams” about her dead Aunt Charlie along with Jessica who warn her that she is, once again, in serious trouble. Rebecca is being set up to pay for the evil that was done. Can Rebecca follow Aunt Charlie’s clues before she is arrested or even worse killed? Will her friends or the police believe her crazy story?
Sorry, no spoilers here! That’s all that I am telling you about The Evil That Was Done. I will tell you that it was definitely worth the seven-month wait. This book took some very unexpected twists and turns that left me on the edge of my seat. Congratulations to Michele PW on a beautifully crafted book and series for that matter!! My rating for Michele PW’s The Evil that was done, 5 out of 5 propellers and for The Secrets of Redemption Series as a whole, 5 out of 5 propellers!!
Book 3, The Evil That Was Done actually dates back to Becca’s Aunt Charlie, however it has returned in another form to reveal a twisted story with Becca in danger. No spoilers, a great read with exciting end. Hopefully the restless spirits of the house will find peace.
Secrets of Redemption series is a must read with its imaginative storylines and shocker endings you cannot figure out.

I was starting to feel like one of those kids in a horror movie who goes down into the basement without turning the light on. Honestly, it made sense at the time.
My Review:
I was totally annoyed and completely exasperated with the main character of Becca – she dithered, she waffled, she was immature and irresponsible and made one boneheaded decision after another. I was so disgusted with her I declared her limited brain cells aloud to my Kindle with, “What a moron!” Yet I couldn’t have stopped reading if my hair had been on fire. I was deeply invested and had to know what happened if I ever wanted to sleep again as the diabolical storyteller known as Michelle P.W. had my attention. There were lots of twists and turns and surprising revelations. I spun and cast aside several theories and was oh so confident that I had it figured out… I was so very wrong. The storylines were active, taut with tension and angst, and involved so many poor choices that I wondered if Becca might have suffered one too many blows to the head, but I couldn’t have been happier with the choice of life-saving hero.
