Very very sweet stories and often times witty to the point you find yourself giggling out loud without warning it was a perfect escapism and the fact that there’s 3 in this bundle all the more better to pick this up and fall into the stories
Getting Lei’d (Escape #1), my twenty-third read from author Ann Omasta. After having read Aloha, Baby! (Escape #0.5), & planning on reading the rest of the Escape Series books I found myself side-tracked by The Pet Set Trilogy: Goofy Newfies, Itty Bitty Kitties & Funny Bunnies. This is another, entertaining, and well-written HEA read from her (as narrator the author does a wonderful job). I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Now on to Cruising for Love (Escape #2).
Cruising for Love (Escape #2), my twenty-fourth read from author Ann Omasta. Another, entertaining, and well-written HEA read from her (as narrator the author does a wonderful job). I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Now on to Island Hopping (Escape #3).
Island Hopping (Escape #3), my twenty-fifth read from author Ann Omasta. Another, entertaining, and well-written HEA read from her, maybe the best of the three (as narrator the author does a wonderful job). I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Now on to Daring the Judge (Daring Desires #5). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Wonderful stories, characters and funny family
The Escape Series box set containing the 3 books Getting Lei’d, Cruising for Love, and Island Hopping is wonderfully charming fun and entertainment. Each story has it’s own story-line and couples but they all are set in a vacation locale with intertwining characters popping up. I laughed, cried, rolled my eyes, got mad and more as the H and h of each story had to deal with certain real life events and circumstances that are beyond their control and have to make some important decisions, sometimes with the push of a crazy family member.
Ann Omasta is a very talented writer and she has once again shone that talent with each book included in this box set. This is a very enjoyable set that I would highly recommend to readers who are looking for some fun and maybe to just get away, when you can’t actually get away right now for real.
I recently got this three story set and wanted to leave reviews for the individual stories in it, but I only see Getting Lei’d as a standalone here, so since I’ve already reviewed that, I’ll leave my other reviews here.
In Cruising for Love, we pick up after the events in Getting Lei’d. Roxy is off pursing her HEA, and her sister, Ruthie, gets tapped by a producer for a reality show after her overhears her antics in a bar. This launches Ruthie on an improbable adventure that was a blast to experience because the author had already set us up for Ruthie’s inexplicable scrapes. She finds herself in the midst of a reality show wedding contest, and being greatly taken advantage of.
However, the cruise isn’t a total disaster because her high school crush is on board the ship working as an entertainer. There are so many complicating factors to keep the two lovers apart it’s hard to see how they could get their HEA, so it is immensely satisfying when they do. Ruthie’s penchant for trouble of her own making deliciously sets up this story to work for this character. Kudos to the author for an entertaining read.
In Island Hopping, we find Ruthie and Andrew have signed up for a reality wedding show with the same producer who did such a hatchet job on her before–and she seems oblivious to the possibility he would ruin her wedding just for ratings. But he has a plan to shake things up even further: he’s invited Lizzie, Roxy’s former BFF who ran off with her ex-fiance the day of her wedding, to come to Ruthie’s destination wedding. Lizzie, despite being reviled by her former chosen family, is known for fixing things–and the producer is ready to play her desire to make up with her adopted family and her keen efficiency against all the plans he has to turn Ruthie’s wedding into a cinematic disaster.
By this point in the series, I’m invested in the characters and their ups and downs. The author has done a fantastic job of making each heroine distinct from the other, even though each story is written in first POV. I want Lizzie to beat the producer at his own game, and to loosen up and have a little fun, as well as forgive herself for hurting people she loves. Shay is a laid-back decent guy, and it’s fun seeing her fall for him despite the fact he appears to be the antithesis of everything she thinks matters to her.
I highly recommend The Escape series if you’re looking for exactly that: a little light escapism. It’s the perfect read to take your mind off the world and its troubles for a while.
Never thought I would enjoy this, but surprisingly entertaining.
This is a frothy delight. Each of the three escapees from the wedding fid love in the most unexpected places. I know it is a fairy tale but sometimes you are just in the mood for fairytales.
Fun easy books when you need something that is light!
Love the grandma she should have her own series.
These three books are humorous and a lot of fun. Get caught up with Roxy, Ruthie & Lizzie for fun and adventure on the beach. Oh, Roxy’s & Ruthie’s grandmother is a kick and you never know what she is going to do. Three romantic comedies to kick back with and relax on the beach.
The Escape Series (Books One through Three) was another great box set by Ann Omasta. This box set consisted of; Getting Lei’d, Cruising for Love, and Island Hopping. These books follow three women on their tropical getaways and finding love when they least expect it. This was another great read by Ann Omasta and I can’t wait to read more by her.
The Escape Series box set for books 1-3 include the titles of Getting Lei’d, Cruising For Love, and Island Hopping. The novels entail plots dealing with a jilted bride per text message taking her honeymoon with her grandmother, a television reality show contestant on a cruise ship looking for her perfect match, and two diametrically opposed individuals who are attracted to each other but somehow finding a way to love. These books have memorable characters, realistic plots, original and humorous storylines, and steamy romance. I strongly recommend these fun reads which are perfect for when you need a few minutes to escape!

Easy, breezy romances for two sisters and a (former) BFF
These three romances set in vacation spots are standalones but connected through the reappearance of key characters. They are each a quick, easy read with some humor.
Getting Lei’d
Sweet romance strikes in tropical paradise: what a honeymoon!
4stars
I enjoyed it in one sitting! Heroine Roxy has a unique honeymoon holiday accompanied by her sister Ruthie and her grandmother! Grandma Baggy is a hoot and ratchets up the humorous side of this story of finding that what goes oh, so wrong may actually be oh, so fantastically right.
This is a quick, easy read with a beautiful setting, likable characters (oh, Gary, thank goodness you never actually show your face!) and a group HEA. Fun, flirty, and not really steamy, just a bit titillating
Cruising for Love
Truth is better than reality(tv): Is Ruthie really ready for reality stardom?
3.5-4stars
It took me until the last fourth of the story to really warm up to Ruthie, the heroine who was a key secondary character in Getting Lei’d, the previous romance in the series. Ruthie is coerced and badly treated by the production company that chooses her for their new couples reality show, but, really, she let it happen. The Cruising for Love reality show did not grab me as I thought it might and what happened to the bulk of the ship passengers? They are mysteriously MIA when Ruthie and the reality cast are moving about the cruise ship! I liked the earlier romance for her sister Roxy better.
The writing flows well and makes it an easy read. The romantic overtures progress to fourth base pretty fast. I found the rapidity and depth of their connection a bit unrealistic even though they knew each other as teens. Ruthie’s grand, unrequited love does not really jive with her behavior in Getting Lei’d.
My favorite part of the story is the ending, after Ruthie’s zany Grandma Baggy hits the deck and the reality show goes rogue. Grand gestures also made the ending satisfyingly romantic and upbeat.
Island Hopping
Lizzie thrives turning chaos into calm, with major help from a handsome beach boy!
4stars
I liked the romance for heroine and super organized Lizzie, but all of the chaos, glitches and wedding drama she has to put up with just skated the edge of too much adversity for a fun, entertaining read. Lizzie’s attempt to get back in the good graces of her friends and their family had her biting her tongue SO often, accepting rudeness and just downright bad treatment and every good deed she does is immediately followed by another crisis. It would have driven ME up the wall!
There’s humor, romance, passion (not explicit), odd, quirky characters, illness, tense family dynamics in the grandparent front, wedding glitches galore, reality tv cameras rolling, and a huge unwelcome visit from Mother Nature! Shay, Lizzie’s savior, is a bit of a mystery man. I kept expecting a reveal of his full backstory but only got a tiny thread. It would have been nice to know more.
This book is an absolute perfect read for any and all. These second time around romances are too funny to put down!
Each of these novels is an amazing story with characters to die for. The interactions and storyline are wonderfully entertaining.
The Main female are a pair of sisters and their best friend, the amount of mischief that goes on as well as other family characters are a kick in the pants. A must read for some lite fun and romance.
I loved reading this boxset was a great reading time. The characters in each book are engaging and well developed with plenty of chemistry. The storylines all had an easy flow to them.

The books will keep you into the series of books. It was a great way to have all three books in the series

GETTING LEI’D is the first book in the Escape series. I recommend reading them in the order of release.
This was one of the best rom-coms I have ever read. Who needs sleep when there is something this good to do (read) instead? It is fun, flirty, light, sweet, and innocently romantic. That does NOT mean there isn’t a good bit of steam. This should not be shared with the teenagers!
I loved that Kai and Roxy were fully emotionally involved long before the clothes came off. In fact, that was an important factor of this story… but I won’t tell you why.
CRUISING FOR LOVE is the second book of the Escape series.
Roxy’s flighty sister, Ruthie, is approached by a producer and signs up to be in a reality show onboard a cruise ship without actually reading the contract. She ends up with three gorgeous men in her life – Cameron (the groom the show marries her off to on the first night of the cruise), Syd (her stylist who becomes her confidante), and Andrew (her first crush from high school who just happens to be on the same ship).
There are plenty of misunderstandings and manufactured trouble (after all, this is “reality” TV – insert eye-roll). I don’t watch reality TV and I don’t watch mean girl types of shows, so there wasn’t a lot I liked about most of the other characters, but Syd, the stylist, was amazing. Then there was Ruthie and Andrew – #TeamRuRew – I was rooting for them from the moment he followed her out of the auditorium. If only all crushes led to happily-ever-afters.
The final book in the Escape series is ISLAND HOPPING. This one definitely needs to be read after Cruising for Love, since it is about Ruthie and Andrew’s wedding. The wedding will also be filmed for TV/online as a follow-up to the Cruising for Love show.
It’s also about Lizzie – the girl who was central to Roxy’s first wedding imploding. Lizzie’s day job involves being a fix-it type of girl – an executive secretary – and she excels at it. So the producer, TJ, invites her along to add drama to the filming of the wedding since, obviously, Roxy and Ruthie are going to be holding a grudge, but Lizzie’s skills will be needed for all that TJ has planned to “add drama” to the wedding. (Yes, more eye-rolls.)
I felt bad for Lizzie. We’ve all made mistakes. Not only is she being judged, but she’s being judgmental about Shay. Shay is an absolute sweetheart, even if he is a beach bum…. Or is he?
One final thought: I’m always surprised by how much the books I’m reading seem to parallel my life at the time. Imagine the oddness that I have been approached by a casting director this week. It’s never happened before. Yet, this week while reading this book, it did. Is it any wonder I prefer to read happy and romantic stories?
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

A wonderful, fun, romantic comedy trilogy with great characters in warm settings.
Getting Lei’d. 5 stars
A fun and enjoyable island romantic comedy. I loved the characters and the setting and the storyline. Though simple, it was great.
Cruising for Love. 5 stars
Hilarious. So much humor. Incredible! Loved the storyline and the characters. Ruthie is even better than made out the first book! Twists and turns galore! Not a clean book, but a must read for sure.
Island Hopping. 5 stars
I wasn’t expecting this character to be the final of the series. Nor was I expecting the returning of characters form the previous book. This book is the perfect blend of the previous two. It was a great ending to a great series.

I’ve read a lot of books written by Ann Omasta; she has done an excellent job at writing a good set of books; I will definitely be reading more of her books.
The story lines caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.
