Very good book. Some grammatical errors but not enough to keep from the suspence of the overall awesomeness of the plot. Deadly virus in a bacterial virus. Thats scary. Race against time to keep the world from becoming extint. Well written.
The Enigma Strain – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Harvey ‘Ben’ Bennett is a semi-reclusive park ranger in Yellowstone National Park and as such is more at home with animals and birds who won’t judge or criticise him. Yet when a devastating eco-terrorist attack sees a so-called ‘dirty bomb’, loaded with the eponymous Enigma Strain as well as its …
This is one suspense filled thriller!! I read it in one sitting-it was that good!
There are twists and turns galore. I was constantly trying to figure out who the good guys were and who were the bad ones–you won’t guess some of the bad ones!
As for the politics and that virus———-you won’t guess what will stop that either!!
I definitely …
THIS is the book that started my Nick Thacker addiction!
This was a very well written book. the author describes the scenes meticulously. They are very few books that I would classify as “page turners” this was one of them. Even though it has a good ending there are more books that follow this one. Narration could have been much better. It was only average. the voice sounded like my grandfather‘s …
I have to say that I was a little disappointed in this book. I was expecting a great, action packed adventure. Instead, I got a partially fleshed out attempt to write a thriller.
The book starts out with a Russian expedition into somewhere in the US in the late 1700’s. When the leader enters a cave, he discovers a treasure of silver coins. …
Folks that buy my Nicholas Foxe adventures like The Code Hunters also buy Harvey Bennett Thrillers by Nick Thacker, and for a good reason. They’re page turners.
The first Harvey Bennett book I read was The Enigma Strain. I have Nick Foxe, Thacker has Harvey Bennett. They are much different people. Harvey (goes by Ben) is a ranger at Yellowstone. …
Great character and action. The plot was very believable.
There were several grammatical errors, especially in the later chapters.
Greed, world domination and a pandemic make this a very timely book. Action packed story filled with twists and turns throughout and wonderful characters. Highly recommend!Looking forward to the next book.
Ben is a very dynamic character. Book was scary because I am quarantined. Made it very real!
Rambles a bit but good story overall.
It hits home with our Covid 19 Virus we’re experiencing.
Ummm…as a biologist and from a science point of view a bit far fetched to get pulled into. Others may like it.
Loved the main character, who has so much inside of him, just waiting to release. Great quick read!
This action adventure thriller provides one answer to the question of how to quash a pandemic before it cam start.
“Ben” Bennett is a Yellowstone park ranger who witnessed an explosion inside the park. The rangers who were there after he left are stricken with a fast moving pathogen.
A CDC doctor from Billings, Mont., joins Ben as they first …
Difficult to put down
What if a corporation got possession of a deadly toxin? One that had existed centuries ago and was used by natives of that time?
I bought this because of its plot related to the current virus. It was OK. Moved well, but some things were tossed in with no purpose. The whole bit about him not flying? Kept going back to it with no reason given or resolution. Overall it was a decent read. Interesting points related to today’s virus.
This was the first Nick Thacker book I’ve read. I found The Enigma Strain to be suspenseful and intriguing. There were many contributing scenes and characters that developed the plot. Just as I thought I figured something out there would be a twist. The main characters, Harvey “Ben” Bennett and Juliette Richardson, drive the story forward while …
