Death comes for everyone. Even Drake Chandali. The aging process that twists all unmated dragon shifters’ bodies into something useless has taken hold of his body centuries early. A mate could have reversed the process, but now it’s too late. To protect his team of enforcers, he leaves, and comes face to face with the woman he’d thought was human when he saved her from a fire months before. … before.
Except she’s not human. She’s a mate.
Camilla Carrillo almost lost her family to wildfire. To discover she’s fated to mate a creature made of flame and rage, and become one herself, should be terrifying. But somehow a rightness settles inside her, especially when she’s around the glowering red dragon shifter who wants nothing to do with her.
When Drake learns Cami bears his mark–the same mark as the High King–he refuses to believe she’s meant to be his. It’s too late. How could he turn Cami only to take her with him to the grave? At the same time, he can’t walk away. Hiding her from the corrupt, rotting High King might be the last honorable thing Drake ever does with the little time he has left.

Every time I begin an Abigail Owen dragon shifter book, I think “this one” will be my favorite. And she keeps upping her game.
Drake and Cami are literally a fiery grump/sunshine couple. Just when you think you want to yell at one of them to just kiss already, Owen twists the story and sucks you in deeper.
A steamy, action-packed adventure that finishes with a HEA and the reader wanting the next book.
Abigail writes fabulous dragon shifters! DOn’t miss out on this new release… 🙂
They hide among us, fiery dragon shifters with their slow ageing process, their soul deep loyalties to their clans and their desperate search for their fated mates, for to never find them will mean certain decline and death. Drake is coming to the end of his life, he has no hope of finding his mate, so he leaves his brothers behind only to come face to face with a woman he rescued months before from a raging fire. For all of the sexual tension between them, Drake knows Camilla is human, or is she?
Camilla bears the mark of a dragon mate, yet she doesn’t even believe dragons exist, could she be Drake’s savior or has his decline gone too far to even dream of finding what his heart and soul crave? To try to turn her now could mean certain death alongside him, besides, her mark is shared by both Drake and the High King…which makes her doubly dangerous or possibly doubly strong. Could this female possess the strength to pull Drake for the brink of death? Would she even accept him?
Drake is far from an open book, he is moody, standoffish and doing his best not to encourage Cami, but you know what they say about a hard-headed woman…Cami is fierce in her love of family, of those she cares about and in her loyalty to a man who she sees clearly needs someone on his side.
Abigail Owen’s THE ENFORCER sizzles with tension, not only between Cami and Drake, but among the dragons, as well. Brilliant storytelling in a world created to fall into and believe in, page after page. Feel the heat, the passions and the turmoil as one dragon and one mate find each other only after it may be too late.
An excellent addition to this series!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Entangled Amara and Abigail Owen! This is my honest and voluntary review.
**I received a copy of The Enforcer from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions were not solicited in any way and are mine alone.**
The Enforcer (Fire’s Edge # 3) by Abigail Owens is the third book in her Fire’s Edge series with Drake Chandali and Camilla Carillo (Who doesn’t fear a dragon or fire!) I have to say this wasn’t my favorite but I still loved both of the characters even though Drake took awhile to understand that Cami COULD be his mate. There is a huge pot of trouble brewing with the Dragon Kings, Alliance and Rune that will most likely have to be resolved in a future book soon. I give The Enforcer a 4.6 star rating.
Cami Carillo is desperately trying to save her family and goats when a fire surrounds their ranch so when a dragon comes to their aid she doesn’t hesitate to tell him she can handle their escape. But even when a mind wipe is done she realizes that her connection with Drake is more than a one time meeting. But first she has figure out why she’s sparking fire from her fingers. She contacts Rune who realizes that she’s a dragon mate.
Drake Chandali knows that his time is coming to an end when he starts having weakness in his hands and wings so instead of telling Flint his Huracans team leader he goes rogue and asks for help from Rune which in turn causes anger between his team mates and the Alliance. When he realizes there’s a mole as well as trying to protect Cami’s family then throw in a mate you can imagine what will happen.
I liked the hero and heroine very very much!
The Enforcer (Fire’s Edge Book 4) by Abigail Owen
This is a “DRACARYS” HOT romance that will heat you up!
The Enforcer is about a dragon shifter (Drake) who has split loyalties between his law enforcer team and the rogue dragon Rune who harbors and shelters dragon mates to save them from the corrupt and murderous King. Finding and mating your one true mate is the only thing that can save and lengthen a male dragons life but, once mated, if one mate dies so does the other.
Drake is dying, centuries too soon, with his body failing him he has left the Enforcers to live out what little time he has left at Runes hideout where he can be alone.
Cami is more than a little upset to find her body is shooting out sparks, starting little fires everywhere! Now to top it all off she is face to face with a huge black dragon named Rune telling her she is a dragon mate and soon to become a dragon herself. Now, she’s down right pis**d she has to leave her family and go into hiding for her safety, before the King hears of her existence.
Drake just wants to be left alone so he can die in peace but, the little spitfire Cami is drawn to Drake and she’s not afraid of him like everyone else. No matter what comes out of his nasty mouth, she keeps coming back around to take care of him, whether he likes it or not.
The storyline is edgy and engaging with excitement, suspense, danger, betrayal, and twist and turns that kept me reading. The author expertly delivered a deep emotion that brought me to tears at one point and made me laughing at another. Great complex character’s including deep dark bruiting male dragon shifters and confident, brave, and witty females. The romance is searingly HOT, raw, passionate, and emotional. I love the romance but my favorite thing about this book is the clever, witty, and humorous banter between the characters! I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Happy Reading
Content Note: Adult Rated
Some reader may be offended by the strong explicit language, and the steamy hard core sex scenes with very explicit descriptions and words. Earning out of 5 flames!
The Enforcer by Abigail Owen is book Three in the Fire’s Edge Series. This is the story of Camilla Carrillo and Drake Chandali. I have read the previous books which added to my enjoyment of this one but you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Drake and his fellow dragon enforcers are coming to the point they need to find a mate. If they don’t their body starts to turn on them and Drake knows that he is nearing this where he will have to go rogue. But when he saved the human Camilla then she turns up again where he is at he starts to learn there is more to her than he thought and she is his mate.
I have enjoyed this series and this book.
Drake is in the last stages of his life. He is a dragon and they die of a wasting disease if they don’t find their mate in time to save them. He leaves his dragon brothers and ends up finding Camilla. Camilla is the human woman he saved from a fire months ago. Camilla has lost almost everything and she has the mating mark. Drake recognizes her as his mate but is it too late to save him? Will Camilla come around to finding out about the dragons and accept Drake? A wonderful read that kept me interested and excited to find out what happened until the end.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
This is the 3rd book in the Fire’s Edge series and I would absolutely read the previous books before this one as events from those ones lead into this one. This one also loosely ties into the Inferno Rising series. In this one we get Drake’s story. Drake Chandali’s body is slowly giving up as he hasn’t found his mate. In most cases if you find a mate, it will reverse the damage. But Drake believes he is too far gone for it to work. Camilla Carrillo is a woman that Drake saved from a fire set by dragons. He believed her to be human. But when he comes face to face with her again, he finds out she is a dragon mate. And when he finds out she bears the mark of his lineage (and the rotting High King) he doesn’t want to believe she is his, because he doesn’t want to drag her to the grave with him. But he will spend the time he has left keeping her safe from the king. No matter what the cost.
I really liked this one! Drake makes the ultimate sacrifice for the people he cares about and just shows his true character with every move he makes. Camilla shows how much she loves and cares about her family and what she is willing to do for them no matter what. I loved the intrigue and suspense but I really want to know more about the council. And I really want to know whether there are any on it that oppose the “rules” but are working behind the scenes so as to be able to spy on them. All in all a very enjoyable read and I love that it is starting to tie in with the happenings in the other series!
This series just keeps on getting better and better. The Enforcer is here and I’ve just been waiting to get my hands on Drake’s story. I refused to accept that he was too late to find his mate, it just wasn’t a possibility in my mind. And of course, Abigail would NEVER do something like that to us.
Drake’s story was well worth the wait and I was living for every single moment of it. There were soooo many moments that just really tore my heart apart. I hated how Drake was already accepting things and wasn’t even willing to think it a possibility especially when it was right in front of him.
I LOVEDDDDDDDD Cami for Drake, she’s a whole lot of sass and unafraid to speak up to Drake. As grumpy and moody as he can be, he does not scare her one bit. I’d say she accepted the dragon shifter life rather easily, but when it comes to her family, that wasn’t something she was willing to say farewell too.
One of the many things that fascinate about this series is the politics of the dragon-shifter world and dragon mates. There’s still so much going on and as we get through every book, some truths are uncovered, however I still have a million other questions. I have no idea how this political system will change, but it definitely needs to happen.
With The Enforcer, we get a little insight/crossover with The Rogue King, which is the spin-off series of Fire’s Edge. I couldn’t tell you how excited I was to read all of that and it also left me begging for more.
Such a flawless story and I instantly fell in love with Cami and Drake. As much of a fighter Drake was, there was nothing that was going to keep him away from his mate.
Absolute must-read, everyone!

Abigail Owen
Smoking hot dragons, yes this book is full of them
Drake is the main man in this story and his a little gruff, well he has a good reason – his body is dying as he hasn’t found his mate in his lifetime.
Cami is a woman with strong family roots, she’s also showing signs of being a mate and she seems drawn to Drake.
There are lots of twists in the dragon world, who’s good and who’s bad, the lines seem to blur sometimes but keeps you intrigued.
The love and lust between Cami and Drake is hot, and all that I’m saying is Dragon tongue magic
This is part of a series and connected to another, but it can be read as a stand-alone. The author does a good job of filling in what has happened before without an information dump that slows the story down. The story moves along pretty fast with action, suspense, twists, shifters of more than just the dragon kind, and romance. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, the story takes a twist. There are a lot of people keeping secrets, but they can’t stay hidden forever. Changes are coming to the world of dragons and those currenly in power aren’t giving up easily. The path to Drake and Cami’s happily ever after is hard won and takes a lot of help from others to get there. This is a wonderful and exciting story all by itself. The Fire’s Edge series and its connected Inferno Rising series has created a world that is amazing, shocking, and makes you anxious for the next book to come out.
Drake is about to come to the end of his life this dragon shifter has never found his mate and that is certain death so he leaves his family in an attempt to spare them seeing him die That when he runs into Camilla again she is a human that he saved from a fire months ago why does she feel like his mate to him as he cannot mate a human or is she human. She may bear his mark but is it to late will he kill her by claiming her as his on or is she indeed so strong that she can drag him back from the brink of death. When danger threatens her family due to the mark she carries it will be up to Drake to keep them all safe, will he admit what she is to him in the process.
I am so excited to be back with these HOT firefighting dragon shifters, and to meet some new ones in The Enforcer, the third book of the Fire’s Edge series by Abigail Owen.
Drake was the only one who could save the family surrounded by fire, but because he is unmated, his body rebelled in his hurry to save them. It is Cami’s family that he rescues.
She is not afraid of him. She has issues of her own, no one to turn to for help, until…Rune. He just happens to be in the vicinity. He is a rogue, a dragon shifter with no clan and gathers those who need his help, offering them a safe refuge
Dragons come in many colors, each with their own special abilities, other than the normal fire breathing and such. If dragons do not mate, they begin to age and death is not far behind. Drake is one of those dragons. They have their own political intrigue and narcissistic rulers. There is betrayal, danger, love and sacrifice. The kings make the laws, the enforcers, enforce them. Going rogue is a death sentence.
Cami finds a friend in Skylar, who has her own secrets. For some reason, she is drawn to Cami and offers to help her, teaching her martial arts, while she is nursing Drake. At first she doesn’t know why she is drawn to him, but as she learns the ways of dragons, it becomes clear to her. At the moment, she is the stronger one.
“…is your default setting asshole?”
“I’m surprised he left you alone with me.”
“He didn’t want to, something about you being a scary motherfucker…”
Oh man, when a shifter dies…it brought tears to my eyes. Abigail Owen’s descriptive writing brought the scene to life and I could picture it in my mind. BUT, I’m not telling you who will no longer be with us. And Drake, that is his biggest fear. If he were to mate with Cami and not be healed, they would both die.
We have a lot of fun verbal foreplay that turns HOT, steamy, sexy, playful, HOT…ADULTS ONLY HOT.
“Did you know some dragon shifters can shift a single part of themselves?”
I know what first popped into my mind and I wonder what pop into yours. LOL
I love dragons in any shape or form. They are people first, doing all the things that humans do, after all, someone has to cook dinner, do laundry, and all those menial chores that need to be done day after day. I love Drake, Cami, and their merry band of misfits. Makes for some wonderful moments as their individual personalities are revealed. It has been a marvelous visit and I look forward to returning.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of The Enforcer by Abigail Owen.

Holy smokes the deceit and lies in this world of Dragons just keeps getting more intense as each book reveals just who is a Mate and who is the enemy. The old guard that control the way Dragons find a Mate are pushing everyone to find the one woman who can heal the rotting King. A Dragon who goes unmated for more than a thousand years slowly decays but if the King forcibly mates with the wrong woman his fire will quite literally burn her alive !
Drake understands the dangers of not finding your Mate because like his King his body is betraying him and as he doesn’t want to let his team of Enforcers down he’s prepared to leave and be considered rogue which is an automatic death sentence. It’s just too bad that the little human he recently saved during a fire happens to be where he’s hiding. Not only is Cami maddeningly annoying but she also happens to be a woman who is capable of transforming into a Dragon but it’s far too late for Drake isn’t it ?
Having started this series with the prequel The Mate I found it a lot easier to understand the politics and mating procedure than some other reviewers. If honest I really do think it’s essential reading to get the best out of this series and as I write it’s free on kindle so a definite recommendation. I liked this couple and could understand just why Drake who is stubborn and loyal really didn’t want to hurt anyone but himself. Now luckily Cami is just as stubborn as Drake is so she had no intention of ever leaving him in peace to brood and just slowly decay away. I confess I’d like more about the rotting King as he’s notably absent and his “council goons” are running the show. There are definitely those with their own agenda here but perhaps most intriguing is Rune the sneaky black Dragon who I’d definitely like to know much more about. If blunt apart from a slight alluding to a missing Phoenix and a shake up in Drakes team this particular book didn’t really move the overall plot along much but I’m hoping that the next book will combine romance with action and obviously ultimately a revolution !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
The Enforcer is book 3 in the Fire’s Edge series and it was another great read. Drake Chandali’s body is failing, he is now over seven hundred years old and with no mate in sight, the end for this dragon shifter seems to be near. But the re-appearance of Camilla Carrillo, a human female he had happen to save from a fire threatening her family and home a few months ago, alters both their lives.
This latest addition to the firefighting dragon series was filled with twists and turns and was definitely action packed. The chemistry between Drake and Camilla was awesome. I loved how different they were; he was so aloof with everyone, a bit on the grumpy side, but he was in extreme pain. And then on the flip side we have Camilla, having just learned that she is a potential mate for someone, leaving all she knows behind, she just takes it all in stride. It actually feels right to her. It does take awhile for Drake to believe that Camilla is meant to be his, but once danger surrounds them, any doubt goes out the window.
Overall, I really did enjoy this book. It was actually great to see a bit of a tie-in with the Inferno Rising series. Looking forward to more books by this author.
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

My Review……
I’ve read the other books in this series.
You don’t have to read the others, but it helps, it gives a little insight into where the story and characters are going (there is a story that loosely connects the books)
A quick recap ….. there are six coloured dragon kings who rule their kingdoms (as usual there is conflict) this is where the “enforcers” come in, a team of dragons (each comprising of the colours) they “police” the dragon world, dispensing justice to rogue dragons. (These dragons set fires in the human world) the enforcers go in as firemen and put out the fires (but not with hoses, they draw the fire into themselves) They don’t interact with the humans, if they have to, they wipe their memories. The humans can’t know about them.
The dragon world don’t have fertile female dragons, so they mate human women, but these women are special, if they can accept the fire a dragon breathes into them, then their life forces are connected. And the female will be able to turn into a dragon. A forced mating will kill the woman, but desperate times are making dragons force the issue. And so a band of rogue dragons are trying to rescue human women before they are taken!!!
I’ve liked Drake since reading about him in the first book, a rough and gruff dragon, one you don’t want to cross, but a loyal friend and an awesome fighter. But Drake is hiding a secret from his brothers (the dragons he calls family) he’s dying. When a dragon gets to a certain age he’s struck with a disease, and Drake has been battling it for a while. A mate could probably reverse the process, but Drake is too far gone, and if he was to find her, he won’t sentence her to an early death (their life forces are joined so when one dies, the other joins their mate). The best Drake can hope for is to die in battle or fighting a fire. Or the only other option is going rogue and forcing his team to end him.
A fire is closing in on Camilla “Cami” and her family, and the stupid herd of goats she’s trying to save aren’t helping. She hasn’t got long, and when the fire threatens to consume her beloved family, Cami has no choice but leave the goats and return to the car. But they won’t make it, they need a miracle, how will they get out of this alive?
Drake is in the vicinity (he’s fighting the fire that a rogue dragon started) he’s got no choice but rescue the family trapped but the fire. What he doesn’t bank on is the feisty female who demands he doesn’t hurt her family. (He doesn’t eat humans in his dragon form) He turns from dragon to man, and then wipes all of their minds (he’s reluctant to wipe the woman’s mind, but no one can know about dragons) setting them on their way shouldn’t bother him, but the thought of letting the woman go, pains him, he pushes himself to let her go …..
Cami is in trouble, not long after somehow escaping the fire they were racing away from, she began to emit sparks from her body (strong emotions usually caused it) she’s scared, how did this happen? Why is this happening? Maybe she’s gone crazy, maybe there is something wrong with her!! Coming face to face with death has changed her, but not to this extent surely? Cami needs answers, and they come in the form of a stranger. He calmly explains that she’s a potential mate for a dragon!! Yeah right!! Until he shows his dragon form to her!! She doesn’t really believe him, but at this point she doesn’t really have another answer.
Cami and Drake meet up again, but she doesn’t know who he is (but she thinks she knows him) Drake knows her, and he’s stunned, she was a dragon mate, how could he not have known? Probably the disease that is now ravaging his body. He’s left the only family he’s known and had come to Rune (the traitor dragon who steals potential mates from the Alliance) He needs a purpose until he can’t fight anymore (oh I forgot to tell you, Rune use to be his friend and second in command to the team Drake was in)
Cami is sure she is Drake’s mate, Drake knows it deep down she is too, but he’s not going to claim her, she could die if he’s wrong, she could die if he did mate her, he won’t sentence Cami to death. So in Drake manner he keeps pushing her away.
The story is a fast paced action read. The Alliance is not happy that Rune keeps helping human women evade them. And they are suspicious of the Huracan (that’s the name of the group) they keep finding women and mating them (law states they have to come to the a Alliance and receive a mate!!)
I like this series and I can’t wait to read the next one. I like we keep in touch with previous mates couples. We have a group of unmated dragons (and now a few rogue dragons) that fight fires and an Alliance that is watching them carefully.
Drake is a grumpy Gus, but he gets the job done and he does it well. His word is a good as gold. As his body continues to fail him though, Drake knows his time is up on finding his dragon mate. However, he was hoping for just a little more time before he has to say goodbye to those closest to him. Joining with this new group of dragons isn’t…ideal exactly, and darned if the human female he risked life and limb to save is staying with this motley crew. But who’s mate could she be? Certainly not his, because he would have known when he saved her, wouldn’t he?
Cami has lost her home to a fire and has discovered more than she bargained for as a new, potential Dragon’s mate. She hasn’t found her groove in this new environment, clinging strongly to her human life and family; their familiarity making her feel safe and secure. Drake seems familiar, but Cami doesn’t know from where or why. Regardless, she’s going back home where she feels she’s really needed. Yet when danger finds her and she unwittingly places her family in the crosshairs of said danger, it’s a good thing Drake has her back, because she may have bitten off more than she anticipated…or discovered what she’s been searching for all along.
Drake and Cami cracked me up! Her sassiness and determination to dig under his thick hide and his stoic demeanor and silence in the face of a chatterbox just fanned the sparky little flames between them into quite an inferno of attraction and bonding! They fit well together, even when in denial of the obvious possibilities, but gracious what a journey it was to get there!!
I am loving Abigail Owen’s dragons! The politics, the backgrounds, the friendships, alliances…all are intricately woven and intriguing in their own ways. However the romance is what draws me every time! Drake and Cami were very strong characters and their relationship alternated between butting heads and finding that someone strong enough to stand up to! But it made for wonderful tension and one heck of an intimate explosion! Really, there’s a whole storyline of goodies happening …
The Enforcer is book three of the Fire’s Edge series and could be read as a stand-alone. There’s a recap given that explains the political landscape and the current situation the guys find themselves in, however, I recommend reading the series from the start because there is an entirely delicious world of sexy dragons and their madcap journeys just waiting to be discovered!
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley and this is my honest review.
