An amazing murder suspense story that will draw you in and you too will feel the fear. A clean romance thrown in for good measure and this book has all the makings of a best seller!!
Another great addition to this series. Though they start out with so many misunderstandings, I came to love Cade and Jocelyn. They really deserved a happily ever after. It’s a mystery, for sure, but witty and sweet with a great male lead. A perfect read for the winter.
I read The Glamorous Life of a Mediocre Housewife earlier this year and couldn’t wait for the second book in the series to be released. Since I had recently read the first book, I was already familiar with the characters, so it was easy for me to delve right in, but if you haven’t read the first book that is fine, as this can be read as a standalone. The author does a great job of explaining what happens in the first book, including giving away a few spoilers, which is unavoidable since this is a continuation of the first.
Cade and Jocelyn had grown up together and have been friends (and enemies) pretty much their entire lives, so to see their relationship blossom is beautiful. I fell in love with sweet Katie, Jocelyn’s eight year old daughter, and I loved getting to know the history of the town and why the land that the Strawberry Lake Estates sits on is so important that it’s worth killing for to keep its secrets.
The book was a speedy read for me, as I turned each page, hoping that the secrets of the past, and who was behind the killing, would be revealed. My heart went out to Jocelyn, who is a single working mom, and who is having to deal with being out of her home, raising an eight year old by herself, dealing with her horrible stalker ex-husband, all while exploring her feelings for a man that she has detested for so long.
Cade’s character is sweet, lovable, and fiercely loyal. He fights the entire book to avenge his friend, protect the woman and child that he’s falling in love with, and finding the truth.
I really enjoyed The Enemy Next Door and Other Misunderstandings and I hope to see another book in this series soon.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
First of all if you read reviews to pick books, please read the first in the series. I was given this book to review and didn’t which left holes in the story’s mystery. It will also have at least one more in the series as this mystery will not be concluded. That was discouraging and yet I should have known better.
That said, I loved the romance in the story. The fact that they went from enemies to lovers/best friends was endearing. Joss’s daughter was delightful and at times stole her mother’s light. Overall, a fun book, if read in order.
It took a little while for my brain to catch up that The Enemy Next Door and Other Misunderstandings was the sequel of The Glamorous Life of a Mediocre Housewife. Actually, I had known it was a sequel but my brain wouldn’t catch up with that fact, so I floundered with familiar-sounding characters and scenarios until it finally clicked. Crissy Sharp does a fantastic job of making her characters seem so incredibly real. You will love the good ones and really want to take a pinata stick to the not-so-good ones. The Enemy Next Door had some realistic and very plausible stories mixed inside so it was slightly more serious but still great. Sharp has left some questions unanswered so could there be another sequel?
4 Stars. Clean and fun.
Loved the mystery and romance! Cade and Jocelyn start out as enemies, but as they realize the misunderstandings between them, they quickly become more. The mystery of the story keeps you guessing throughout the whole book. I haven’t read the first book in this series, but I didn’t feel lost. The author did a good job giving back story for the different characters to keep things straight, but I’m definitely interested in reading the first book now.
Enemies Joycelyn Kross and Cade Warner are forced to work together after circumstances and a shared history force them to find out what secrets would cause someone to kill Cade’s employee. What was he looking into at the time that has caught someone’s attention? And who killed him? And add to the mix Jocelyn’s ex-husband shows up and causes her more trouble. After some harrowing events, they find their enemy status shifting. Good read I would recommend this book if you like mysteries.
Loved this book! It was full of suspense and a fantastic story line. The romance was a nice addition, too. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.

I received an ARC of this book and offered to give my thoughts on it. It was a good read. I smiled and was intrigued throughout. It is mostly romance but does have a mystery wrapped into it. I like the characters and the way they interacted together, their past, and the way it all intwines. It was a good read.
This romantic suspense was so much fun. It’s the second in a series, but could be read as a stand-alone too. I love characters who start out hating each other and then have to work together.
