One of Isaac Asimov’s SF masterpieces, this stand-alone novel is a monument of the flowering of SF in the twentieth century. It is widely regarded as Asimov’s single best SF novel.Andrew Harlan is an Eternal, a member of the elite of the future. One of the few who live in Eternity, a location outside of place and time, Harlan’s job is to create carefully controlled and enacted Reality Changes. … Changes. These Changes are small, exactingly calculated shifts in the course of history, made for the benefit of humankind. Though each Change has been made for the greater good, there are also always costs.
During one of his assignments, Harlan meets and falls in love with Noÿs Lambent, a woman who lives in real time and space. Then Harlan learns that Noÿs will cease to exist after the next Change, and he risks everything to sneak her into Eternity.
Unfortunately, they are caught. Harlan’s punishment? His next assignment: Kill the woman he loves before the paradox they have created results in the destruction of Eternity.

Somewhat dated but considered one of his best. He is not known for well drawn characters.
Outstanding one of his best
Might only appeal to Asimov fans. Very unusual time travel story.
Steeped in the social mores of post-world war II, it nevertheless tackles the thorny subject of time travel with subtlety and depth that is so often lacking in modern sci-fi writing.
Great premise, plot, and writing. But the characters felt one-dimensional and the hero was unlikeable
I believe I have read all his sci-fi books and this rates as one of the very best because of his creation of “Eternity”.. Fascinating idea with a totally different slant on time travel. Almost seems plausible.
One of Asimov’s better books. On par with the original three of the Foundation Series.
Asimov is a good writer. He builds characters well and combines them with incredible concepts. A good story.
One of my favorite authors, he creates wonderful worlds and thought provoking scenarios.
I read this book purely on the name of the author. At first I was not so sure that it was a good choice. As I read further and especially as I got to the end is was enjoying this book very much. There are some rather unexpected twists that added to my enjoyment.
I read this book for the first time when I was a teenager. It became my favorite book, and Asimov my favorite author.
This an interesting idea but the writing is very cumbersome
cannot go wrong with Asimov
Asimov is a brilliant science fiction writer who crafts haunting stories, and this is no exception.
Perhaps my favorite Asimov story. Love the concept and twists
