The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope is an unconventional and passionately romantic love story that is as breathtaking and wondrous as The Time Traveler’s Wife and The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.
During WWII, teenager Evelyn Roe is sent to manage the family farm in rural North Carolina, where she finds what she takes to be a badly burned soldier on their property. She rescues him, and it quickly becomes … She rescues him, and it quickly becomes clear he is not a man… and not one of us. The rescued body recovers at an unnatural speed, and just as fast, Evelyn and Adam fall deeply in love.
In The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope, Rhonda Riley reveals the exhilarating, terrifying mystery inherent in all relationships: No matter how deeply we love someone, and no matter how much we will sacrifice for them, we can only know them so well…

This is what I look for in a book, an unusual story, beautifully told. It had me guessing all the way through. I loved it.
It reminded me of an Alice Hoffman novel.
A very different romance
Very good! The writing style is good the plot is good and so entertaining!so four stars! The only thing I don’t give five stars is that Adam disappeared at the end !I want them to be together till the end!
Due to the fabulous nature of this book, I was not sure that I was going to like it. The author, Rhonda Riley, draws you in with her interesting twist on reality and has a very lovely writing style. She has a way of expressing the protagonist’s emotions in a beautiful succinct manner that does not ramble, yet makes them immediately understood. …
Beautiful prose, stunning presentation of character and setting. The fantastical element tucks in seamlessly.
Farfetched, but an interesting and enjoyable read.
Very odd and definitely not worth reading; much less buying
Very weird!
The characters were well developed and if not likable, then interesting.
You didn’t know what was going to happen next.
Kept me engaged.
This story stayed in my mind for days after finishing it. I never quite understood what Adam was or how he came to be, thought at first he might be a fantasy or allegorical creation for love of land, and finally I decided he was real to everyone in the book. Moving on from there, the story was just great, very haunting, and appropriate to folk …
Loved this book couldn’t put it down
Parts with children as usual family life with happy ending good but generally too “science fiction” weird .
One of my favorite books
Did not like the ending. The characters were well written, warm, wanted to know them but the end just leaves you hanging.
It was an intriguing concept and the main character was definitely interesting but I found certain aspects troubling.
Loved it!
Beautifully written, almost lyrical at times, with strong characters and a story you want to see through to the end… and sad that you have finished it, and have to say goodbye. A brilliant and rich tale, full of life, love, and loss.
One of my all time favorite books!
This is an amazing book that speaks to the powerful emotions of love. The author, Rhonda Riley, has a great understanding of the capacity of the human soul to grow and experience that which is greater than ourselves.
Ms. Riley’s writing style is very engaging, easy to read while creating a depth of story not often found.
I’ll let others …
