From treasure buried in a heritage garden, to a haunted keep, and even a spectral Scottish stag, The Emily Haversson Cozy Mystery Series are perfect coffee break reads. Fans of cozy mysteries and women sleuths will love historical researcher, Emily Haversson, and her suspiciously intelligent cat/sidekick, Mr Bumble. Amazon Review of The Lavender Of Larch Hall: “I really enjoy novella length … novella length mysteries and this was a fantastic start to the series. I like the idea of a historical researcher which made sense as to why she would find the document that was the source of the mystery. Fantastic characters and great pacing, it was not predictable and was a great escape.”
The Lavender of Larch Hall
Historical researcher, Emily Haversson, and Mr Bumble (the cat) are at heritage site, Larch Hall, to go through some old records. They’ve only been there a day, when Emily discovers an old love letter which contains cryptic clues to a ‘legacy of love’ buried in the garden at Larch Hall.
However, when she approaches the head gardener, Rob, to see what he makes of the clues, he expressly forbids her from digging up the garden. So when Rob discovers soil and lavender bushes strewn everywhere the next morning, he immediately accuses Emily. Only she knows the truth…
Someone else is hunting for the secret hidden beneath the lavender of Larch Hall!
Emily Haversson has another mystery on her hands…

I was enchanted with these books so it did not take me very long to power through the entire set of Emily Haversson Mysteries! Emily’s profession of historical researcher was very fascinating. Who knew it could also prove so terrifying? I like the characters and the plots are well written. Mr. Bumble, Emily’s cat is also an important character – and very smart! If you are looking for something different in cozy mysteries, you should read these books!
Overall Rating: 4.5 stars
There was witty banter and humorous situations throughout these cozy mysteries. They were an enjoyable read and I recommend them to cozy mystery readers.
The mysteries need to be read in order to make the most of your read. I was given an advance copy of this book from the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own.
The Lavendar of Larch Hall
Rating: 4 stars
• Larch Hall was a high class hotel. Emily was hired as a historical researcher to evaluate old historical documents that were on site. She found a love letter with clues to a possible buried treasure, somewhere in the gardens of Larch Hall.
• This was a fun romp through the gardens with some twists and turns I did not expect.
The Leaves of Llewellyn Keep
Rating: 3 stars
• Hayden, Sean, and Dan were teenagers breaking into the keep on Halloween to see ghosts and artifacts. They claim they saw a headless ghost.
• Emily’s quest is to check to find historical data to dispute the presence of a Ghost.
• I knew what would happen in this one, once I met the other characters in this story.
The Snow of Severly Castle
Rating: 4.5 stars
• Mr. White was dying, but he wanted the live for one more Christmas to be with Jake, Lily, and George, his grandchildren.
• Damien is Emily’s new assistant and they are at Severly Castle to discover the traditions of Christmases past, so thet can use them during Christmas present.
• This cozy mystery had more twists and turns than the previous ones and was not so predictable. This was my favorite mystery.
The Frost of Friston Manor
Rating: 4.5 stars
• Emily is hired to look into the family tree of Amelia Friston. Amelia wanted to pass on her wealth to someone in the family, if she had any family.
• This mystery was pretty straight forward. But this story had a lot of caring and sweetness to it that I enjoyed.
The Heart of Heathley House
Rating: 4.5 stars
• Emily and Damien are hired to determine the significance of some historical documents found at Heathley House.
• I enjoyed this cozy mystery. It was a fun read and it had a little more romance. This novella defined Emily’s and Damien’s relationship.
A delightful series of stories involving Emily Haversson in her attempt to bring history back to life for a variety of clients. Mischief and mayhem abound. Romance surrounds her in all of the settings. It was quite enjoyable reading these stories. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review.
Blooming #1 – A quick, fun read with bits of suspense. Armed with self-doubt in the beginning, the main character uses integrity, determination and hard work to succeed and becomes an outstanding young woman while changing the life of the people around her. This book is filled with humor and suspense. The author did a good job with this book; still needs editing. But this recent work is vastly superior over her earlier writings. Like the main character, she persevered, too. 5*
Holly Winters books 1-4 5* Ms. Loren re-edited this series.
Snowed In With Death #1 – Just so silly, it’s funny. A humorous whodunit filled with the egos of six private detectives and a young female amateur sleuth. Even with the disdainful PIs present, the young woman shows them up. Just perfect for a few minutes of humor filled relaxation. 5*
A Fatal Frost #2 – Two stories in one. This book picks up where Snowed In With Death stops. The perfect breakfast opens the story! Another well written, quick murder mystery with our two characters from SIWD. The plot was interesting and kept the reader’s attention; great for a lunch break or a few moments of relaxation. I contacted the author to review her books after reading the ones I had in my Amazon library. 5*
Murder Beneath the Mistletoe #3 – An interesting story, a little more substantial than the first two books in this series. The characters are interesting, although one disappears without really knowing what’s up with him. The ending is kinda cool, which of course is where the next book picks up. 5*
Winter’s Last Victim #4 – Picks up where Murder Beneath the Mistletoe stopped. These four stories are related in more than one way. Interesting plot, the same good and bad character types and a new member to Holly’s “gang”. Plenty of humor, along with a couple of surprises. 5*
