A fairytale retelling in a land of magic and war, see Cinderella like you’ve never seen her before. Wren never imagined she’d find herself back in the crosshairs of battle. Her family estate burned to the ground—along with most of Praed—she and her stepfamily are forced to the outskirts of Sortis, where she learns an undeniable truth of her new reality.A new war is upon them—a war no one saw … war no one saw coming.
Yet, it isn’t just the life of captain Wren is thrown back into. There’s a history in Sortis she’s been avoiding, one she hoped to ignore until she felt ready to face it. With old friends reappearing and new alliances forming, Wren is torn between doing her duty and following her heart…
Because deep down, Wren knows they can’t be one and the same.
Can they?
The Embers We Seek is a serial series, meaning a new episode of 8 – 15,000 words will be published in the last full week of every month. Cinderella’s tale will be completed in ten episodes.

In book 3 you go d Wren and her step family safe from the Orcs attack. You learn about Wren’s mom in this section and you feel her pain as she remembers her mom. The surprise of who Alaric really is throws Wren for a loop. The scene where he finds her is quite interesting. Again this is a short read and there are several more books to finish the story.
Episode 3: At the Gates
Loving the girl power and action. The story is reminiscent of Lord of the Rings (think Helms Deep) if women had been key players.

I loved the reunion and I bet my bestie Laura was thinking thoughts that I can’t write down lol
We learn what happened to Wren’s mother and more about the sexy soldier that Wren keeps thinking about. It’s nice to see Mor back. For such short chapters, it’s amazing how much Acacia is able to show in them. Props to the author.
I’d say this series will be good for 18+. Yeah. Why?
this was the third book in this series and i really liked it! her family home is burned to the ground. now there is a new enemy and something is just not right. read to find out why.
Wow Wren has to deal with some ungrateful people. The orcs are on the move and nobody knows why. Wren takes up the roll as captain again and we find out why her family name is so well known. We also find out the truth about the man she has been fantasizing about, though Mor really does her dirty springing that surprise on her. Though short these books are well done and don’t feel rushed or like anything is left out.
Wren’s home is destroyed and she-along with her stepmother and stepsisters-now lives on the outskirts of Sortis. Can dealing with her past and fighting a new war with the help of her friends be accomplished? What about her heart and the feelings for another?
Wren is at war with the “family” that treats no better then a servant. But the one night that she is awake, she knows something/someone is coming for her. As she fights for her life, she ends up saving those same people who hate her, but she thinks nothing of it. When safety is found, Wren is called to the castle with others to find out what is happening and perhaps why it is happening. But finding out the one person she never thought she see again is there but he isn’t who she thinks has her confused and made. But when the fighting is coming to them, things may change and we never know if it’s for better or worse. I want to read the next sooooooooo bad, I’m hooked and I need my “Embers We Seek” fix.
We have episode 3! Y’all so much happens in these short little books…its just packed but its not overload…all I can say is brilliant and not every author can do it. Wren has saved her family and are they grateful? Hell no. Are they grateful and thankful that she got them the best and biggest tent? Hell no! She’s now been summoned by the King and she was hoping to avoid that. She also learns about Alaric and well I dont know about y’all that made me cringe! I knew she’d be pissed. In this one the main focus is learning why the Orcs are attacking for not reason. So, hopefully in the next book we learn that. I really dont want to spoil it but I know there’s another character we learn about…I’m zipping my lips! Hopefully we learn more about her. Poor Wren is having such a difficult time but you would do if you had to go back to the very place your beloved Mother died. Such strength in her but she doesn’t think so and Mor…God love her is by her side. Cant wait for more Acacia!
A new enemy emerges drawing our fearless characters back into a deadly war. The tension is higher not only between our characters as some secrets are come to light but also with new deadly adversaries as well.
