Whenever I hear the words “royals,” are “royalty” in a book, I think of Carol Moncado. She is an expert in writing stories which will take you deep into the lives of “royalty” and the world of “royals.”
Guess what, she’s done it again! This time we learn more about Princess Evangeline Miriam Amelia of the Quatremaine Dynasty.
Yes, that’s a lot of names, but when you’re a royal they give you more than just two. However, as we read about Evangeline we soon realize she’s more comfortable as, Evie. She’s a younger sister of King Benjamin and a twin to Princess Genevieve.
Evie’s not one to like the limelight. Yet, she’s pushed into it when her twin sister gets sick, and that’s where she meets Sir Peter Barker. He knows right off, something isn’t right and he catches Evie playing the part of her sister.
I think sometimes it would be fun to be an identical twin. There could be so many times and ways to play tricks on others. One of the things which might be special about being a twin is the fact you would have someone who knows you deeper than anyone else. However, what would be hard, is if you lose connection with your twin.
As she and Pete start to develop a friendship, they find they enjoy each other’s company more and more. While they get closer, things come up from Pete’s past and Evie’s “royal” duties that put pressure on their friendship. Unfortunately, they find communication is key to a relationship and they work hard to not keep things from each other.
One thing which is driving me crazy is how she left a “bombshell” at the end! Really? Now we have to wait until the next book comes out to find out what really happened to Gen.
The author, Carol Moncado has truly done it again! She’s brought this story to life in vivid color!
I love this book and can’t wait to read more about many of these characters in the future! I think I’ll read any book this author writes because they are always full of sweet romance and wonderful life lessons, with a bit of suspense.
I received this book from the author for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I have not read a Moncado book that hasn’t been top notch, uplifting, emotionally charged, and inspiring.
The (Elusive) Princess by Carol Moncado is the eighth book in Carol Monado’s Crowns and Courtship series. We finally get to read about one of the royal twins of Eyjania. Although Evangeline is not my favorite character, I really enjoyed this book.
Evangeline is the younger twin and she is always in the shadows. She prefers to be behind the scenes letting her older sister Genevieve take the lead. However she finds herself pushed into the spotlight when she starts dating famous movie star, Sir Peter Barker. Will they be able to make a relationship work in the midst of jam packed schedules, a potential royal scandal, and a royal family in crisis?
Evangeline was a different kind of character for me because she is not really like me. I am more outgoing than Evangeline is, however, as I read this book I started to relate to her and like her more. Evangeline was cool because she had to learn to lean on God’s strength to help her do hard things. She put herself out there because she knew it was the right thing to do. I really enjoyed her growth as a character.
I liked Peter from the start of the book. He was funny and sweet. I also liked how he was able to put Evie at ease. I thought it was so cute how he fell for her really fast and he wanted to protect and encourage her. However, he had his own baggage that he needed to deal with first before their relationship could really work. Peter had to learn to let go of past guilts and trust God. Peter was the perfect match for Evie, he helped her blossom and she helped keep him grounded.
Peter and Evie had to learn to make a public relationship work. It was hard work, but they knew it was worth it. I really enjoyed Peter and Evie as a couple. They really helped each other out as they dealt with everyday life. I also liked seeing the side characters. I loved Ben in this book, he has finally started to soften. I also thought Owen, Peter’s assistant, was really funny.
The (Elusive) Princess was a light and easy read. I love how Ms. Moncado writes books that still hold God at the center. I would definitely recommend this book. I think that people who live light, Christian, royal reads would really enjoy this book!
Princess Evangeline (Evie) has to go to a function for her sister who’s not feeling well, but decides to dress as her sister. She pulls the function off well enough, except for Pete, who figures out who she is immediately. This sets off a fun story, with getting to know Pete and something from his past that comes up. We get to see more of Ben, Katrin, Eliana, Thor and a little of Gen too. Easy to read story with more of our favorite characters and enough plot twists to keep the story moving. Set primarily in Eyjania, with a short trip to the US.
A complimentary advanced copy was provided by the author, but I also purchased my own copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The (Elusive) Princess is a must-read book in Ms. Moncado’s latest series. This book continues in the Crowns and Courtships Series. This book focuses on Evangeline, the quieter twin sister. In the other books, readers would know Evangeline, but most of the time knew more about her twin, Genevieve. Normally Evangeline tried to stay out of the spotlight, but due to circumstances out of her control, she decides to take her sister’s place at an upcoming event. While at the event, she plays the part of being her sister. There she meets Sir Peter, a famous movie star, who she has always had a little crush on. From the beginning, Peter realizes that the wrong twin is at the event. The more he is around her the more intrigued he becomes. There are several events that become distractions from them being able to get to know one another. Readers will discover if they are able to work through their distances. During the book, readers also learn more about Genevieve and her current circumstances. When the book is finished, readers will be wanting to get their hands on the next book that continues Genevieve’s story! I cannot wait for the next book! This book was another great book in this series. I highly recommend you read this book! You will not be disappointed!
What happens when a princess fills in as her twin sister at and event then meets a hot movie star? This is the story of Evangeline, Evie and Peter, hot movie star. Evie is a kind of shy behind the spotlight kind of person, her sister Gen is the outgoing one. She meets Pete at this event standing in as Gen at an event. He’s a good friend of Gen’s and knows right away. Sparks fly.
This story is one of learning to forgive ones self. Both Evie and Pete have scars from the past. I was glued to the book. The twists and turns that came. I love all of Carol Moncados books. I devour them like a lot of her faithful readers. I highly recommend this and all her books. Can’t wait to read Gens story. Thank you from a faithful reader for doing what you do Carol. Blessings.
If you have read any of the Crowns and Courtship series you are well aware that Genevieve and Evangeline are twins and that Gen is much more outgoing than Evie. Find out what happens when quiet, introverted Evangeline is pushed into the limelight on the arm of Eyjanian born Hollywood actor Sir Peter Barker. Evie steps in to fulfill an appearance for her sick twin and life as she knew it changes!
As always, I stayed up way too late reading, let the chore wait a few more minutes (oops make that hours) while I find out what happens next. I need to know about . . . .
The “worst” part of the whole book is not knowing what is going on with Gen. The taste of her upcoming story has me complaining that I have to wait two whole months until it comes out!
