“Mrs. Pollifax gives Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple a rival to reckon with.”—Toronto StarIf you make it across the border, get us help. Some of us care. Do you understand? Right now we desperately need passports and identity papers. The arrests grow insane. At the very hour this message was en route to the CIA, Mrs. Pollifax was waiting for her night-blooming cereus to do its thing. She hardly got … cereus to do its thing.
She hardly got to see it, however, because Mr. Carstairs was already on his way to recruit that gallant lady for another daring mission.
Soon the most unlikely of all international spies was sporting a beautiful new hat—perfect for hiding eight forged passports.

Mrs Polllifax always makes me smile and feeling better
Have read a couple of the books in this series and always find the indominable Mrs. Pollifax to be highly entertaining….
Good cozy series book.
I read this some time ago with others in the series. I really enjoy the older woman playing spy. She meets interesting people I like, gets into serious trouble but comes out ok. Plucky woman. And I really enjoy her two FBI or CIA? contacts. Great fun. But always some serious suspense and danger.
nice little mystery with great main character ….light hearted but still with some twists that you don’t expect.
Overall enjoyable, let me get away for a day and feel good
I think i’v read everything by Dorothy Gilman but my favorites are the Mrs. Pollifax books. I suggest reading them in order starting with The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax.
This book is a fantastic story!!! I own most of the books in the Mrs. Pollifax series and have read them multiple times.
This is marvelous series that I revisit frequently
I have read all of the Mrs Pollifax books. They are funny and she is amazing.
Very enjoyable book.
I like all the Mrs. Pollifax books.
It kept me guessing. I think I mostly enjoyed glimpses into life in Bulgaria, a part of the world about which I know very little, to I enjoyed getting to know more about its history and current life.
Liked the character of Mrs. Pollifax and interesting situations!
Enjoyed it!
Always unpredictable and very funny. I love this series
I love all the Mrs. Poll I fax books & highly recommend them.
Mrs. Polfax ignores the number of candles blazing on her last birthday cake, packs her suitcase and leaves her rather boring retirement life for exotic locations to be an unexpected, inexperienced, and untrained secret agent. It is always fun for the reader to tag along with Mrs. Polifax , meeting people, making friends, acquiring gifts for her grandchildren as well as confined to prisons of dictators, running in a Chinese alley, climbing a mountain behind the iron curtain. Recommend you read the series.
I absolutely love all of the mrs pollifax books. Always a great reread.
Please, I want to be Mrs Pollifax. My dream job. Love her.
