Reminiscent of Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting, this debut novel, The Elephant Tree challenges the reader’s sense of morality with shocking plot twists and vivid characters.Mark Fallon is an overworked detective investigating a spate of attacks at a string of high profile city centre nightclubs. Scott is a dejected 24 year old struggling to make ends meet working for his brother and supplementing … his income with a small-scale drug dealing operation. Angela is an attractive 23 year old, raised by her father, a career criminal and small time drug dealer who supplies Scott with cannabis. This is a chilling tale spanning a few months in the lives of Scott and Angela, where realizations about the present combine with shocking revelations from the past leading to an apocalyptic climax where they no longer know whom they can trust.

“The Elephant Tree” is a good book to read on a weekend when you know you can keep turning those pages until you know what happens at the end. I started it at the beginning of the week and couldn’t wait to have some more time to finish the book.
I guess what made the book so compelling for me was not only the plot but also the characters, who …
An interesting story which absorbs you and you can stay for a long time!!
The Elephant Tree by R.D. Ronald is the story that contains its main idea and meaning inside, not outside. I liked the content of the book and the author’s style. It was easy, interesting and quick to read. I also want to mention the characters that the author has developed …
The Elephant Tree by R. D. Ronald
Book starts out with a team of Scott and Neil supplying drugs to the local folks at the clubs they frequent.
They make quite a profit but Scott wants a quieter life so he agrees to try a different venture to gain big money quick.

I discovered this one a while back on http://www.transgressivefiction.info but as I don’t post my reviews very often I’m just getting around to it now. Pretty excellent book I doubt I would otherwise have found. Dark and gritty in all the right ways, and a genre I find myself more drawn to all the time now.
Excellent read, and I’m dipping into that site …
Totally love this. I’ve just discovered a new (to me anyway) genre in #TransgressiveFiction and that’s where I found The Elephant Tree. I’m picking my way through and have a bunch more to read through, including the next book by R D Ronald.
Fantastic read. I want more books from the author.
