Welcome to round two of The Faerie Race—an epic adventure through a realm as compelling as it is deadly… through the next trial unscathed, but all she can think about is her discovery that her sister is alive. Too bad her search for answers has only left her with more questions, and more enemies.
Forced to work side-by-side with their beautiful and duplicitous competition, Orin and Jacq are plunged back into a magical world filled with bizarre creatures, far-reaching conspiracies, and not nearly enough to eat. Each challenge brings the two of them closer—but that just means they have more to lose. Will Jacq be able to reach the final checkpoint with her heart and her life intact, or will The Elemental Trial prove too daunting?

For sure since I had read the first one in this I did not want to miss this one. When you come across a good read with author that can keep you in it you do not want to mess that up. Not big on reality shows but I know if this one was really on it would be a hit with high ratings. Jacqueline is in one that is even more dramatic than ever. A few answers will be given but more intrigue to search for those answers. This is one race that certainly keep you glued watching every second especially when a life could depend on it. There is a assortment of characters that also make this one unique with it making for a excellent flow to the read. This author could get anyone to read YA if they opened that page.
I’m not a fan of reality TV, but if there really was one involving a deadly race in the fae realm I’d sooo be there (watching, not participating: I’m a bit of a wimp). Frankly, the whole concept of that sort of thing is as utterly cool as it is cool imaginative. No surprise, really, that a talented duo like J.A. Armitage and Claire Luana (two of my favorite authors) came up with it. I loved the first book in this series, The Sorcery Trial (separately reviewed) and urge anyone who missed it to start there first as it’s too good to ignore. Happily I can confirm that The Elemental Trial (The Faerie Race Book 2) is equally good. Orin and Jacq are plunged back into the what’s described perfectly in the publisher’s blurb: “a magical world filled with bizarre creatures, far-reaching conspiracies, and not nearly enough to eat.” Luckily for us the result is a wild ride of reading pleasure that’s perfectly written. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
The great race continues, the risks, the rewards, love, death. I read late into the night, not daring to quit before they did. I’m cheering them on and anxiously awaiting the next part of the story.
The next set of trials is even more dangerous than the first. Each duo has to team up with another duo during each of the three trials. And Jacq and Orin can’t trust the other six. Jacq and Orin are growing. The person she least wanted to be paired with is turning out to the best choice. More sabotages happen, and more death. What is the hidden agenda behind the sabotages, and will Jacq find her sister?
This book is so awesome! Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, she switches it up on you!! The trials in this are different than the first. They have to use more of their mind than their physical strength, although that is definitely something that they will have to use as well. The stakes are high and the betrayals are everywhere. They can’t trust anyone at all because any inch given will be exploited. I loved this book. I can’t wait for the next one.
The Elemental trial is the second book in The Faerie Race series by authors J.A. Armitage and Claira Luana.
The Faierie race continues in the second book and our contestant take places in trial that are even more dangerous that have been in the first part. It keeps you wanting to read and not put the book down.
Can’t wait for the third book in the serie, The Doomsday Trial.
I have received and arc of this book by J.A. Armitage.
Twisted as hell!!!
What is going on with this race?, it was supossed to be an entertaining TV show!!! … As the second Trial starts, it seems to be so much easier than the first one… Oh surprise, is even worse… facing so dangerous foes that leads to several injured competitors and even one so sad death , Jaqc is ready to send them all to hell, but her now stronger bond to Orin and her quest to find her sister, give her the necessary strenght to keep going, to keep pretending… Now Cass finally reach out to her, shocking Jaqc completely … Will she finally find out the reason to her sister disapperance?, will they find out about the Brotherhood and its final goal?… … OMG, this book is just as good as the first one, can’t wait for the next one!!!
I received an ARC of this book and decided to write an honest review.
This series is amazing so far!
Oh my gosh i can’t believe all that has happened. This story just keeps getting better & better! It’s definitely a roller coaster ride where i don’t want to get off. It’s that GOOD! I love love Jacq & Orin! Their chemistry is everything. I am so happy at how their relationship is now. I totally teared up at what happened to Ben… This race is unbelievable but that is what makes it soo entertaining and addicting. Lots of action and danger and surprises. I can’t wait to find out what will happen next! Highly recommend this series!
The second book in this series is just as good as the first. I love the language the authors use, because without being very descriptive, which I don’t like, they still manage to make me see everything going on around the characters in great detail. I also love the way the trial went in this one with how the teams were all mixed up. And skillfully woven in the main plot is the secondary plot about Jacq’s sister and The Brotherhood. I am equally vested in all the storylines, and I’m actually sad that there is only one more (I think). I also really like that the romance doesn’t overtake the plot. It’s there, but it’s not the main focus. With everything going on, I just love this series, and I can’t wait for the next one. If you like light urban fantasy with a little romance and action included, you really need to try this series! Highly recommend this book, and I received a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
