This is another awesome read in the Hank Reed series. It has all the mystery, action, thrills, with a touch of romance I have come to expect from Mr. Lichtenburg. However, I have discovered that Mr. Lichtenburg has a tell. There’s a way to figure out whom the perpetrator is going to be and I had to giggle when I figured it out. (No, I’m not going to reveal it. You’ll have to read the series for yourself.) I enjoyed getting to know JR better in this book. He is a great character and I think he and Hank “work” (in every sense of that word) well together. I would love to see JR be more involved in future books. If you haven’t read this series you really need to. I highly recommend it.
You decide to go out to a bar on a whim. You meet this girl and everything just clicks. She comes back to your place. You have an incredible night together. The next morning you go out to get breakfast and when you get back she’s disappeared. Are you crazy? Did she exist? And what were those crazy phone calls telling you to get out of the house? Sounds like the beginning of a twilight zone episode but these events happened to Nick Ross. Hank Reed PI and friend of Nick’s cousin who’s a homicide detective agrees to check things out because Nick’s family is worried about him. That’s where things start. That’s where things start to get really weird.
When Hank starts investigating everyone thinks that Nick who’s had some mental health issues has just imagined his problem. The more Hank delves into the case the stranger and more complex it becomes. Twists and turns, murder, money laundering, lies and so much more. Everything you could possibly want in a thriller is right here in this book. I was enthralled from the beginning and found it hard to do anything else until I read the whole book. This is an excellent story that will keep you guessing right up until the end.
I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
The Edge of Murder, Book 3 in the Hank Reed Mystery Series, grabbed me from the intriguing beginning and never let go. I read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down, so make sure you have plenty of snacks and beverages on hand when you settle in and start reading. The main character, Hank Reed, is a very likeable P.I. who is hired to find a missing person. His investigation pulls him into a world where nothing is what it seems and mistakes could get him killed. The suspense ramps up as Hank unravels a complex series of sinister crimes that lead to a thrilling climax. An unputdownable and satisfying must read from mystery author Fred Lichtenberg.
