Lady Amy Hartley is in danger. Her incredible beauty has engaged the attention of a lunatic admirer who sends her obsessive and threatening letters. After expressing admiration for Amy, all her suitors are found dead. Amy is terrified for the safety of everyone around her as well as for her own life. Her only hope to escape from the situation is her childhood friend, Lord Daniel Nottage. He is the handsome Earl of Derby. Having lost his fiancée, he is determined to unravel Amy’s psychotic follower and keep her from harm. He is putting himself in grave danger however, since he is falling desperately in love with Amy. – Amy’s father and stepmother were cruel and selfish. They were both mean to Amy but would not allow her to live with her mother, who was sweet and loving. Amy, Daniel and his sister Sarah played together as children and were close. She always cared for Daniel and was still friends with Sarah. There are twists in this romance-mystery. I went back and forth as to who was involved in the mystery. I found the book to be interesting but a little long. I enjoyed the extra epilogue but could not access it from my Kindle. I read it online though.
I enjoyed it. There were some interesting twists and I didn’t catch on to the “villan” for quite a while. That’s unusual for me. I normally have it figured out before I’m halfway through. The characters were well defined and relatable.
L’idée de mêler une histoire “rose” et un policier pouvait être originale. Mais les personnages sont si caricaturaux, et l’intrigue si lente et prévisible qu’on perd le fil très vite.
Predictable
Love the book , couldn’t put it down.
sweet story, with lots of twists and turns. Sex level sweet and non-graphic.
Lots of mystery in this book! Enjoyed reading it and looking forward to the next one in the series.
Loved this original story. Great read
There was nothing espectacular about it, finished it because I don’t like to start a book and don’t go through it. Repetitive situations all over the book, definitely not a favorite
Almost did not finish this one; skimmed ahead often. The plot is ridiculously convoluted, about a young woman who hates crowds and society functions, with the formulaic evil stepmother, and her heartless father who sees her as a possession. And yet a whole bunch of men are smitten with her, and later die. Whodunnit? Really, at the end I just didn’t care.
Amy’s life is pretty awful. Thank goodness she has Sarah for a friend. Daniel, Earl of Derby is Sarah’s brother and Amy’s crush. It’s a long journey before Daniel acknowledges his feelings for her. Her father and step-mother are two of the most disgusting characters you will find in a book. She asks Derby to help her find the sender of some frightening letters. There are other heroes and bad guys she meets before the mystery is solved and it was not someone you would suspect. I was concerned that the story would drag due to the length of the book but I was pleasantly surprised how the story kept a good pace.
Being the first book that I have read by author Ella Edon, The Earl’s Dangerous Passion, is filled with love, excitement, and mystery from the very beginning. The beautiful Lady Amy Hartley has been raised in an abusive home that is sorely lacking in affection and love. Her father, Lord Hartley and stepmother, Beatrice, are trying to get Amy married off but to a man of their own choosing. Amy refuses to wed any of the men that her father has picked out because they are just like him. Wishing that she could live with her mother and stepfather, Dr. James and Anna Day, Amy is a withdrawn young lady that will open up to no one but her best friend Sarah and her brother, Lord Daniel Nottage, the Earl of Derby, who Amy has secretly had crush on for years. It seems Amy has a secret admirer that has been sending her letters, mostly speaking of love but there are several that have a dark undertone. Fearing for her daughter’s safety, Anna encourages her to go speak to Daniel and see if he can find out who is the culprit. As the time passes and still no closer to the identity of the letter writer, things begin to become sinister as several murders take place that seem to point to the admirer. Will Amy be able to discover the identity of her admirer before it is too late? Will Daniel follow his heart and let Amy know his true feelings toward her? Will the murderer take the one person from Amy that she loves with all of her heart? Author Ella Edon has written a masterpiece with multiple twists and turns. I am so excited to read more from this bestselling author!
A cruel father and vindictive step-mother rule Amy Hartley’s life, making her miserable. Now they want to marry her off to a lecherous womanizer, and English law says her father owns her as property. She has no say in her own affairs.
But Amy isn’t going quietly nor submissively, refusing to face an unhappy future with a man she can’t stand. Mysteriously, good men who are interested in her are disappearing or turning up murdered.
It’s a cat and mouse game trying to figure out who the murderer is. Fear about who to trust, and who will be next to die, permeates the atmosphere.
This is a great book with wonderful characters. I was frustrated with the h/h at times, which translates into how much I was involved with the story. Very good storyline. Warning there are some harsh, abusive scenes.
What’s a bit of mystery with some romance? This book! Incredibly well spoken Amy in a predicament but her friend’s older brother is coming to her rescue! A must read page-turning book!
The great character and storyline development made this book a real page turner that kept me totally captivated as I turned each and every page until the very end!
