The Dying Hour introduces Jason Wade, a rookie crime reporter with The Seattle Mirror, a loner who grew up in the shadow of a brewery in one of the city’s blue-collar neighborhoods. At The Seattle Mirror, he is competing for the single full-time job being offered through the paper’s intense intern program. But unlike the program’s other young reporters, who attended big name schools and worked at … at other big metro dailies, Wade put himself through community college, and lacked the same experience.
Wade struggles with his haunting past as he pursues the story of Karen Harding, a college student whose car was found abandoned on a lonely stretch of highway in the Pacific Northwest. How could this beloved young woman with the altruistic nature simply vanish?
Wade battles mounting odds and cut-throat competition to unearth the truth behind Karen Harding’s disturbing case. Her disappearance is a story he cannot give up, never realizing the toll it could exact from him. The Dying Hour is a bone-chilling, mesmerizing page-turner that introduces readers to an all-too-human young hero who journeys into the darkest regions of the human heart to confront a nightmare.
The International Thriller Writers (ITW), selected The Dying Hour as a finalist for a Thriller Award for Best Paperback Original, 2006.

Save Her!!!!!
In Karen’s desperation to flee, clear her head and unload her woes on her sister, she makes probably the most crucial decision of her life. Liar Luke, Conflicted Cull and Journalist Jason weave a web of deceit, with a story to be told. This book has so many twists one can hardly believe the outcome. While not grotesquely carnal, the ancient methods behind the murders tell a tale of torture and cruelty, not unlike the Inquisition. Well written. Well researched. Well read.
Couldn’t put down! Loved the plot and main character.
Thought this was a good read. Jason Wade is one of my favorite characters. All the characters were well written. When I read the Jason Wade books, I find it hard to put down. Very well written.
I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author. I have trouble putting them down.
Very gripping story of a very tristed & deranged man. Very interesting that this guy was a clergyman considering what abuses have come to light recently in the Catholic Church & it’s priests.
Very good book.
Don’t want to put it down
Mofina tells a great story. This book kept me up passed my bedtime!! Jason Wade, reporter is someone who I will follow into the next book. Wade is a tenacious crime writer who doesn’t give up…and for that reason the truth comes out about a terrifying ritualistic killer. Keeps you on the edge throughout.
Glad I found this author and this Jason Wade series. Very good.
Love it!!
Read it in one day. Great story

do not read this if- you have laundry going that must be folded on the same day, you you have errands to run, you need to vacuum, you have an appointment that you cannot skip, you want to turn out the light and go to sleep early… this whole series is unbeatable! once you start into the book you will most assuredly wish you had a whole day so you can venture into a reading marathon! so do not deprive yourself and just go for it!!
Well written, keeps your interest from the beginning.
I have read the entire series because of the realistic look at journalism, police work, and the criminal mind in the great mystery format.
Great read! I’ve been a Mofina fan for a while now.
I like his style of writing. Keeps you engrossed from beginning to end.
I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to everyone
Loved the character development, the underlying story of the Father/Son Relationship, and learned some facts about the horrendous treatment of women accused of witchcraft and the early European church. A good read for this detective reader.
