Lady Jocelyn Rathbourne was taken in by a pretty face and even prettier lies, leaving her family’s reputation at stake. When the man who made promises to her announces his engagement to another woman, she knows the only way to avoid a scandal is to marry the cad’s brother, the cold, formidable Duke of Calydon. Sebastian Thornton, the Duke of Calydon, is in need of a wife. Bored with the … the simpering ladies and overly-forward seductresses populating the ton, Sebastian longs to find a woman with fire and spirit. He never expected the perfect candidate to barge into his home, aim a derringer at his heart, and demand he marry her…

Stacy Reid has penned a great tale! The Duke of Calydon is in for a romping good time with his shotgun wife! The story is fast paced and the book over too quickly! Thank you for a really extraordinary book.
Well, this 112 page, short, steamy novella started off with a bang, my fellow romance book loving friends. Lady Jocelyn sure got just what she bargained for and then some when she decided to seal her fate and family’s fortune with an alpha dark hero like Duke Sebastian Thornton. Who would have thought this tall, mysterious, handsome, rumored to be dastardly duke wouldn’t even put a fight against Jocelyn’s demands. Right place, unusual circumstances sure worked in her favor.
You may find yourself just having to roll with the no time to waste pace as these two perfect for each other feisty lovebirds pair off and find love in and out of the bedroom. Sebastian plays the role of dominant, refuses to bend to love hero well until Jocelyn lays down her own brand of law. Yeah, she may have crossed a line or two, but so did he, mainly when a heated argument leads to smex. Sure it was consensual, but I’d rather just seen her storm out, slam the door, and him having to give chase. What can I say? I’m a groveling loving kind of romance reader.
I sure loved the response of Sebastian’s brother, whom Jocelyn previously very briefly dated, when he learns they wed. Even he openly admits Jocelyn was way more than he could have ever handled.
So keep throwing these alpha possessive heroes and feisty leading ladies my way, Ms. Reid. Even when they are short, sweet, and oh, so verra steamy, these romantic tales still pack a punch to the heart.
Title: The Duke’s Shotgun Wedding, Series: Scandalous of Calydon (Book 1), Author: Stacy Reid, Pages: 112, stand-alone but part of a series, very short novella, feisty, sassy, impulsive heroine, very graphic smex scenes, HEA, no OW/OM drama, romance safe for me,
(I voluntarily read and reviewed a purchased copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review. There is no affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author/publisher/PR firm.)
It was a short but bumpy rollercoaster ride with such a feisty and unusual young woman and the man made for her.
Jocelyn is so full of life and fire, ready to take matter in hands even when her so careful planned strategy went awry and she found herself married to a Duke renowned for his coldness and ruthlessness.
Sebastian was quite surprised by the woman barging in his office seeking redress. So when she speaks about marriage, why not this spitfire than a boring young miss from the London ton.
From their wedding day, it will be a steamy road with heated discussions for them to find a way to trust the other and accept it with its flaws.
I love how Mrs Stacy Reid even for a novella is able to give deepness and a past to her characters plus I find no fault to her interpretation of the life during these time period.
This is a well written, fast paced short story and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The main characters are well formed and an absolute delight. The story itself is extremely amusing and clever.
I am happy to recommend this story as a most entertaining read.
