Jillian St. Clare’s first mistake is taking off her shoes at a society ball. Her second mistake is hiding the note that flies through the window into her empty shoe. Her third mistake is dancing the scandalous waltz with the devastatingly handsome stranger who wants the note. A secret message. Meant for a spy. So many mistakes. Jillian can’t keep track. Caught up in the dangerous world of … espionage, whom can she trust? Certainly not her cold and callous guardian. What about the handsome spy, who is none other than Adrian Bennett, the Duke of Dunbary himself? Can she trust Adrian? Or will she lose herself to the Duke’s dangerous kiss?

Oppressed and kept away by her cold guardian, Jillian was definitely not enjoying her social life and it only took a single incident for her to suddenly find herself in the middle of the intrigues of people she did not trust, at all. The Duke of Dunbary had his hands full spying for the Crown and Miss St. Claire was complicating and putting things in jeopardy. His mother had shown him that women could not be trusted and that he had learned well. The one that was openly defying him was no different, but despite her wiles he was attracted to her. But it is said that from hate to love there is only one step and Jillian and Adrian were playing a game that was only fooling themselves. Meanwhile, the enemies schemed, secrets came to light and things got dangerous for the protagonists. I liked the intrigue, suspense, and mystery surrounding Jillian which also happened to have her knack for intrigue. I think as a spy, the Duke was lacking. He could have investigated the Miss a little more to find out why she behaved in certain way. Interesting, entertaining, some amusing scenes, lot of villains, suspense, interesting twists, a not-so-simple Miss, a jealous duke, and a grandmother who knew how to do things.
There were so many intertwined details in this story! Jillian’s vague family history and guardian with a hidden agenda provided an interesting start to the story. Her chance recovery of an item while at a ball draws her into the world of political intrigue and the sights of Adrian. I really enjoyed watching the various characters dance around hidden family and plot details right up till the very end.

Who is the good guy?
Overhearing a conversation and finding an unknown letter has Jillian wondering who she can trust. There are very few people who she feels she could ever trust not her guardian or chaperone that is for sure. What about the Duke of Dunbary? He wants the letter back that is apparent but why? There are fantastic twists in this book and the story showcased two wonderful characters but I have to say the secondary characters were awesome too. Drama and danger blended so well into this intriguing piece. I pick this book off an email by eBook Discovery and I am so glad I did. This is the second book by this author and I cannot wait to read the next one I have. This is a really good series. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I had a hard time putting it down at times as I wanted to know what would happen next. The main characters Jillian and Adrian were well developed and thought out. The story line was well planned. I felt like like it flowed smoothly and didn’t change constantly. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. This was a good paced story involving secrets and spies. Lillian St Claire is a unconventional young lady, who is unaware of her background. Adrian, Duke of Dunbary is working for the government and determined to prevent a war with America. There are a number of misunderstandings and I kept wishing Lilliana and Adrian would just talk to each other! I did enjoy this story and found it to be an entertaining read. Nicely written storyline with well defined characters that as the pages were turned Jillian and Adrian continued to pull me right into their journey as it unfolded!
While taking a break near a window during a ball Jillian comes into possession of a letter with secrets in it. When Adrian The Duke of Dunbary asks her to dance she knows he wants the letter back. As Adrain pursues Jillian from ballrooms to a houseparty trying to get the letter back he is intrigued her. And when they are found in a compromising position he does not take long to propose. But as her acctions make his personal demons stronger their marriage soon grows troubled. Even as they grow farther apart their feelings develope until danger struck. And only when he had to save Jillian did they face eachother with no more secret and let their love free. This book is free of cheating and ends with no ciffhanger. I read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed reading this book and the story moves at a nice pace. The characters were well written and I enjoyed their interaction. One of my favorites was Adrian’s grandmother. I did feel like so much misunderstanding could have been avoided by Adrian and Jillian if they had just communicated instead of running away from each other. That got to be frustrating. It was a fun book though and I enjoy this author. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
This is the second installment of the series On His Majesty’s Secret Service. A nice addition to the series with spy plots and family mysteries, it was a well-written and interesting story. Jillian finds herself caught up in the intriguing world of espionage when she comes across a mysterious letter at a ball. Adrian, a spy for the Crown wants that letter. He follows her from one society function to another in attempt to retrieve the letter from Jillian. As he pursues her, he becomes fascinated and intrigued with her and when they are caught in a compromising position, marriage is the only option. Their marriage, however, is not smooth sailing, and there are secrets between them and they begin to grow apart. Mystery, intrigue, and suspense are the name of the game in this story and I found it to be an engaging and entertaining read. I’m looking forward to reading the third installment of this series.

Whilst this story has a good plot, the characters frustrated me with no end. Jillian finds herself in possession of secret information, but not knowing whom to trust, she hides it, and the situation spirals out of control when the Duke of Dunbary repeatedly waylays her to get it back. In a world of espionage, No one is to be trusted. I loved Kip’s character but found the discontent between Jillian and Dunbary disturbing. Ultimately, the story does come to an exciting and happy conclusion, but I was disappointed in this romance as I had high hopes when I started out reading it.
