When poor orphan Ava Smith comes face to face with a girl who looks exactly like her, she is certain she has seen a ghost! But, Lady Emily Fairfax, is no ghost and is sure that she and Ava must be long lost twins. Despite her better judgement, Ava allows Emily to convince her to swap lives for a month, in order for Ava to scupper Emily’s engagement to a cold-hearted, brute of a man.Imagine Ava’s … Ava’s surprise when Emily’s betrothed turns out to be none other than her unrequited crush, the Duke of Kilbride!
Raff Alexander Hamilton, the Sixth Duke of Kilbride, knows that he must do his duty to the line by marrying and procuring an heir. Love was never in the equation in his search for a bride. All that he required was a lady who was well-bred, quiet and biddable—and he thought that he had found just what he was looking for in Lady Emily Fairfax.
Imagine his surprise, when overnight, his betrothed goes from meek and compliant to outspoken, alluring, and decidedly unimpressed with him.
As Raff battles to woo his bride to be, Ava must navigate the sumptuous world of Regency London, while trying desperately not to fall in love – no matter how much her heart wants it.

A good story and no yucky sex, Yea!!!
This is the first book in the Fairfax Twins Series, a clean Regency Romance. This story is beautifully written, fun, emotional, and romantic! I loved to follow Ava and Raff in their journey. Ava is lovely, naive, caring and supportive. Raff, the sixth duke of Kilbride, is a complex and handsome character, understanding and caring. They are perfect together. The storyline is intriguing and captivating, filled with secrets, and lies. I loved Emily, Ava’s twin sister, and their father. The secondary characters are great and intriguing. Looking forward to listen to the next installment in the Series, The Duke’s Governess in Disguise, Emily’s story. Duke and Duchess DeFoix did an amazing job with the narration. I love their voices together. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it.
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.
This is a female version of The Prince and the Pauper. Twins, who are separated at birth, are raised in a wealthy and a poor/servant household respectively. They meet by chance and switch places. It’s cute and clean. There is not a lot of conflict or turmoil nor is this very deep but nonetheless, it was a very pleasant diversion.
The narration, done by both a male and female voice, reflects the changing POV between the Duke and Ava [the pauper twin]. I liked the narrators, Duke Defoix and Duchess DeFoix, and found the switching of their narration to be very smooth and entertaining.
Have enjoyed all 3 books in this series.
Good storyline and characters
Read it outloud to my husband and we both enjoyed very much.
Prince to pauper kind of story with a romantic twist.
I loved the characters. I loved the story.
Can’t put the book down
I enjoyed reading the book. The characters were interesting.
This is the first time I read a book from Claudia Stone and I loved it.
Excellent, clean read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
This is a cleverly composed look alike switch! Very enjoyable!
The Farifax twins are something else. I did have a small bit of trouble accepting that the twin raised in the orphanage could even remotely replace the one raised as a lady, but it was all good fun and our hero likes her better anyway!
Enjoyed this book
Actually, I’ve enjoyed the whole series. Reading book three (about their friend) now. Interesting premise of twins separated at birth. Both story lines were intertwined and well written.
I enjoyed it even if it was unrealistic that no one would in the family would miss the difference in accents and speech patterns.
Loved this story – !st of three in a series. Read in order if you can
I enjoyed this book.
Twin girls separated at birth grow up in vastly different circumstances, cross paths, swap places and complicate matters by falling in love under assumed names. Loved it!
