Miss Katherine Ross is a wealthy, eccentric socialite who knows precisely what she wants: No husband. No children. No candlelit tête-à-tête with the insufferably emotionless Duke of Ravenwood. She’s convinced his heart is ice — until she touches that chiseled chest for herself. One lapse in judgment is all it takes to turn both their lives topsy-turvy…
The Duke of Ravenwood isn’t cold and … cold and haughty, but a secret romantic who has always dreamt of marrying for love. Instead, he gets Miss Katherine Ross — a headstrong hoyden intent on unraveling his carefully ordered world. He doesn’t know whether to kiss her or throttle her. Can they survive each other’s company long enough to turn a compromise into love?

Katherine Ross thinks the Duke of Ravenwood is cold and has no feelings, and the duke thinks she is a flighty debutante who flits around to all of the events of the Season because she has nothing better to do. Both Katherine and Ravenwood have decided they detest each other, but for some reason she can’t stop thinking about him and he has an urge to kiss her. When they’re caught in a comprising position, just when he’s about to give in to that urge, they have the chance to find out just how wrong they are about each other.
I really liked the lonely duke who just wants a family and loving home and is afraid he’ll never have them, and I felt for Katherine who has fears she must overcome if she’s going to have the life she dreams of. I enjoyed watching them as they learned about each other’s hopes and dreams, and worked towards understanding each other. This series has been great and I’m sorry to see that I’m down to the last story, All I Want, which is next on my Kindle.
I love Erica Ridley’s books. She makes that world come alive and the people in it are people I want to meet. I read her books as they come out and then read the whole series at once for things I missed. I get a more complete picture that way and more pleasure.
I love Erica Ridley’s books! And this one didn’t disappoint! Very entertaining.
Perfect airplane read
I enjoyed this book and the series
Good book
A great weekend read.
I really enjoyed the book.
Loved this book.
Great read. Like to see that both characters changed situation imposed upon them to meet their hopes and dreams for future happiest and were rewarded for their efforts.
I’d read it again
Good easy read
This author always puts a nice twist in her plots to keep the reader engaged!
The characters discover the goodness in each other rather than fighting with each other. It was a nice twist to the usual romantic theme.
It was good, but not great. I’ve read better books of hers. The hero was stiff, and the heroine waffled. I generally like the thawing of a frozen heart kind of romance, but this one not so much, even when he thawed it was only mildly different than when he hadn’t and much of it was repetitive. If his duty and commitment was mentioned once a chapter I might have managed, but it seemed like it was every other page. Overall an okay story, but the author has better books.
I love reading Erika RidleyErica Ridley Dukes of War
The story was a new take on romance than what I’m used to. There was no actual protagonist, just their own feelings and plans getting in the way of love. Aunt Havens was a fresh addition to the story in that her actions effected the whole story. The only part I really didn’t like, the hero is called Ravenwood throughout the whole story. His first name is never really used at all, making the story less personable for me.
I really enjoyed this book especially as Katherine and Ravenwood not only discovered each other, but learned more about themselves and what they held dear. The plot moved along at a good pace and the secondary characters were nicely fleshed out as well. Recommended.
Another hit!
I LOVED THIS!!! We have on outgoing, fun loving, creative, action-oriented heroine in Katherine. Our hero is the staid Duke of Ravenwood. He is serious, proper in all things, rule abiding, loyal to England, a member of Parliament and was secretly called the Ice King. Caught in a compromising situation they had no choice but to marry. It touched my heart the lengths each of them went through to get to know each other, please each other, be considerate of each other and to show their growing respect and love for each other. As people have said “there are two sides to every coin” and as such Ravenwood had a side he shared with no one. That was until Katherine came into his life. She had issues to overcome and so did he. Unfortunately, in the beginning they tried on their own. Towards the end they came together. It was glorious. I admired Katherine’s love and devotion to her Aunt Havens. When Katherine’s parents died Aunt Havens and her parson husband took Katherine in and loved her to distraction. She would always be grateful. Sadly, Aunt Havens now suffered episodes where she was not rooted in the present. This worried Katherine. She could not imagine living without her constant companion, best friend and confidant. But she had an even more fearful concern about childbirth. That was something Ravenwood and she were divided by. This is a page turner. This is a must read. You will not be disappointed. It is moving, emotional and full of realistic feelings and challenges. I highly recommend this book.
