The Duke Who Stole My Heart is the sweet/tame version of The Duke’s Bride. My dearest brother,Harry, if you receive this letter it will be because I’ve eloped with an honorable American shipping merchant and will soon be sailing far from England to his home in the Americas. This decision doesn’t come easily. I’ve tried my best to convince your dear friend, the Duke of Ashten, to live again and … Ashten, to live again and remove himself from his own self-imposed exile, but in doing so I have instead been reminded of the day he first stole my heart. Eight years old, I was at the time, six years younger than the two of you. I adored chasing you both down to the river, climbing trees, and watching you fish. That was when I first fell in love with Ashten, but unfortunately that love is not reciprocated, even though I wish it were.
Our dear sister posts this letter to you on my behalf as my valise is now packed and I’m about to escape from under Mama’s eagle eyes for Gretna Green. An adventure awaits me, one hopefully without a brooding duke and a battle of wills at play.
Please, remain safe during this dreadful war. I miss you, terribly.
Your ever-loving sister, Ellie.

10/19/2020 I was disappointed with “The Duke Who Stole My Heart” (nook). Pierce/Ashten and Ellie were lovely characters but not quite mature enough to suit me. Ms. Wadsworth uses vivid prose to describe the places, flowers and trees.
The well written storyline and the very developed characters kept me totally captivated throughout the entire book! I always look forward to reading more from this author!
Ellie has always been in love with Ashten, but he just sees her as his friend’s little sister or so he wants to think.
Ashten has secluded himself in his house after Lady Ashley dies at sea pursuing her dreams of adventures. He thinks that is he doesn’t go out, he wouldn’t put in danger any other lady. However, Ellie’s news about her elopement changes everything.
One of the things I like most about the book is that everybody is likeable.
I love Ellie; she knows Ashten so well that she is the only one to make him go out of his hidden hole. She is a wonderful character; strong-willed, lively and of course stubborn.
I liked the sheer loyalty of Gorman to Ashten. And I love the end. I like so many things that I would need several pages to write it all down, but that would be too much information and it is better if you find out for yourself.
A great fun story. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This story is brilliant, the storyline is entertaining and romantic and the characters are likable, passionate and intelligent. It had me from the first page, waiting to see what would happen next. It’s one of my favorites among the books that I’ve read by Joanne.

Highly entertaining and engaging romantic adventure filled with danger, secrets and sweetly sexy chemistry…. really enjoyed this journey and look forward to reading more from this series.
Lady Ellie Trentbury kept throwing herself at the Duke of Ashten trying to gain his attention and his heart and bring him out of his reclusive state. But when he’s finally attracted to her and he tells her he’s going to offer for her she decides to elope with the man she was pretending to be engaged to in order to make Ashten jealous. I didn’t like that she was so in love with Ashten, but she will still marry another man and never be completely happy with him just because she had accepted his suit.
This is a story that had me smiling it is well written, the story flowed smoothly from page to page. A new series called Sweet Regency Tales and I want to read the next book. Ashten sees Ellie as his friend’s little sister but now she has decided to elope and he realizes she is his can he stop the elopement? I found the thing he did at the end to be sneaky but it got results. I would say read this story and if you do I hope you like it as much as I did. Ellie is set to run away when all she really wants is Pierce. Pierce has closed himself off from society after a tragedy. Sweet clean read

Stubbornly, Lady Ellie Trentbury knocked on the Duke of Ashten’s bedchamber door for the tenth time in ten minutes, insisting he talk to her. Taking a hair pin, she wiggled it in the lock until the door opened, much to Ashten’s shock! The woman he had intended to propose to died at sea and he blamed himself. But Ellie tried to explain that she had wanted adventure at sea and that is why she chose her own path and eloped with Captain Seymore – it was not Ashten’s fault in any way. But he continued to hide himself away in guilt. Ellie was Ashten’s best friend’s little sister, but he had no idea at all how she felt about him. Threatening her to leave or she may be forced to wed him was certainly not a deterrent! He was like a member of her family and she would not let him isolate himself like this. It was time for her secondary plan hatched with Mr. Tidmore, an American shipping merchant, earlier. So she told Ashten she was eloping and, if her ship sunk, she wanted Ashten to know it was not his fault!
The Duke immediately pulled her back into the room and shut the door on his servant. He had to talk her out of her foolishness. She said she had danced at a ball with the man, and although she did not love him yet, they were friends. Her every defense made Ashten argue more to dissuade her. How far is Ellie willing to go with her ruse? Ashten refuses to love again. Mr. Tidmore is willing to actually marry her, and it may just come to that – but what about her love for Ashten?
This is an absolutely wonderful story, full of humor and a spunky female who won’t let someone she cares about waste away in misery. The other characters added to the situation Ellie had set up and made this truly a fun read. Don’t miss this one – it is a definite keeper! (Note that The Duke Who Stole My Heart is the sweet/ tame version of The Duke’s Bride.)
A fantastic lighthearted book… that will entrainment you until the end…
An incredible plot of a young lady to win the heart of her love…
He had closed himself from the society, the life… and want to be alone…
Will all win?
A voyage to the happiness….

This is well written and such fun to read. He won’t notice her because of a tragedy in his life. Now she comes up with a really funny, will thought out plan to get him to see her. Love this story and also the other characters who mesh into the story. This is exciting, funny, emotional, dramatic and so much more. I was given a free copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
Oh, how I loved this book. It was full of love and romance. I absolutely loved it. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
This was such a fun read I love headstrong ladies and that is what you have in Ellie. She does kind of get into her own way a bit, but it works out. She does get the Duke goat at times. Pierce is a bit close off will he stay that way not if Ellie has her way. A great afternoon read with enjoyable characters and storyline. Ms. Wadsworth has a winner on her hands. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
What to do when a man you have loved almost all your life, will not notice you are now grown? Take drastic measures! Ellie, sister to Harry, the Duke of Ashten’s best friend, knew what she wanted and that was Pierce! The Duke had closed himself away after the death of his fiance and not come back out into society. Ellie plots a scheme to get he out of exile and make him take notice of her.
She hopes if she pretends to elope with another man, he will come to his senses!
A truly delightful story that was a lot of fun with Ellie’s family and other characters. Now I want to read about Ellie’s siblings as they find their happily ever after!!

This was such a delightful lighthearted book to read in one afternoon. Ellie has been in love with Pierce (the Duke of Ashten) ever since she was a little girl but he has always regarded her as his best friend’s little sister. Now an adult, she is a force to be reckoned with when she decides she wants him to notice her, as well as help him overcome his self imposed seclusion. She really knows how to get him going! lol I loved the family scenes and I can just smell that pork pie with apples in it!! A fun read and I now look forward to reading Ellie’s sisters and brothers’ stories.
