Can there be any greater challenge to London’s Ambitious Mamas than an unmarried duke?—Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, April 1813By all accounts, Simon Basset is on the verge of proposing to his best friend’s sister—the lovely and almost-on-the-shelf—Daphne Bridgerton. But the two of them know the truth—it’s all an elaborate ruse to keep Simon free from marriage-minded society mothers. And as … mothers. And as for Daphne, surely she will attract some worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable.
But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, it’s hard to remember that their courtship is a sham. Maybe it’s his devilish smile, certainly it’s the way his eyes seem to burn every time he looks at her . . . but somehow Daphne is falling for the dashing duke . . . for real! And now she must do the impossible and convince the handsome rogue that their clever little scheme deserves a slight alteration, and that nothing makes quite as much sense as falling in love.

I enjoyed Simon and Daphne’s story and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Not sure how I hadn’t read a Julia Quinn book for so long, but once I dove into the Bridgertons series, I was hooked! I loved Daphne and look forward to seeing how she’s realized on screen! The Duke is great too. I loved seeing dual POV, loved the dynamic of the large family and the doting mother… it’s all great. Pretty much what you want from a …
I thoroughly enjoyed this first installment to the Bridgertons series. It’s a light and fun historical centered around a hysterically close-knit family. The story is easy to read with characters for whom you can adore with dashes of scandal and gossip laced into every chapter thanks to the enigmatic Lady Whistledown who keeps everyone in London …
I loved this story for its wit and memorable characters.
I love Julia Quinn’s books! Smart, sassy women and men who realize how important they are.
I own all her books! Excellent author, one of my favorites!
I absolutely loved this series. They are making it into a series on Netflix but casting choices will keep me from watching it.
I loved this book. Great job
Simon Duke of hasting , as a child never spoke till four and with a stammer. His father was ashamed of him and never failed to let his son know. As an adult Simon befriends Anthony the eldest Bridgerton at Eton and Oxford. Upon returning to the continent he reunites with Anthony.

I like Julia Quinn’s books and series. As it’s been awhile since I’ve read this one, I only remember that I liked it very much as I do almost all of her books.
Dash of heat, incurably romantic and witty…all in all a cute story with charming characters. It is a simple story…nothing dark, nothing crazy. The gentle romance will keep you entertained from beginning till end. Also a bonus epilog was a bonus.
Couldn’t put it down.
Julia Quinn is always entertaining.
THE BRIDGERTONS and The Symth-Smiths series are delightful and wonderful. Developed characters. Stunning dialogue. Real issues to overcome.
I loved this book. Simon and Daphne are made for each other even if hunky Simon refuses to see it.
Born with a stutter and essentially ignored until abused by his father, he has sworn to let the line die with him. Things don’t go as planned when he meets charming Daphne. A misunderstanding forces them into a MOC.
Very entertaining and steamy as …
I love all of herbooks!,
As a Julia Quinn devotee, I love her book and can find no fault with the book or her style of writing.
A good romance.
Loved it
Fantastic! I loved it from start to finish! Could not get enough.
