Widowed Nicolas Westfall, the Duke of Stapleton, cannot prevent the upcoming debut for his youngest daughter no matter how much he wishes her eventual marriage wouldn’t leave him all alone. Convinced to host a Christmas Ball to prepare her for the season, he’s aware he’s considered a catch on the marriage mart too, but Nicolas is drawn to companion Gillian Thorpe instead.
Gillian was hired to … hired to prepare the duke’s daughter for her first season, but its not easy when the girl hasn’t the least interest in the men and the widowed father makes her knees weak when he laughs with her. Gillian respects and admires (perhaps too frequently) the Duke of Stapleton and when she’s lured into a mistletoe kiss with him, will she be able to stop at one or even want to?
A steamy regency romance.

I loved the story
A lovely period piece book, left me feeling good
I wish I could give it a negative rating. I discarded the book within 10 pages and I generally try to finish my books.
This is a historical romance set in early 19th century where the class distinctions were very strictly adhered to. The heroine is a lady rescued by the Duke’s second daughter . The tone and form of conversation with the Duke on the very first meeting confirms that the author is totally unaware of the prevalent norms and she also doesn’t care to.mislead new readers into believing that these lines could e easily wiped out. She has the gall to question the Duke outright? Seriously? Not an author Im.going to be picking up again.
Recommended: definitely not
Very entertaining ! I kept expecting things to progress in one direction and the story would take a slight turn. Great ending!
Thank you I enjoyed the characters and the wonderful story
Lovely characters and an enjoyable story!
I suspended reality and enjoyed the story
In the real world of peers and commoners, this sweet story would never happen. However, in the fictional world of romantic love, indeed a duke can and does fall in love with his daughter’s companion.
The Duke and I by Heather Boyd is a well written, fast paced romance with likable characters. It’s a quick read with a few smiles and some passionate interludes leading up to a happy ending.
All in all an entertaining read.
Content 411: In addition to six mild swear words, there is some passionate kissing and a couple of sexually intimate interludes that are moderately described.
Heather really knows how to put a story together. Sensual, sexy and witty. Characters mesh well together, the atmosphere just puts the reader in the moment. A very enjoyable story.
I really liked this book! It wasn’t too long, had great characters, and was very romantic!
I wanted it to be longer.
Enjoyable, with the requisite misunderstanding at the end.
Just ok. The writing was a bit stilted and it fell a bit flat, but overall it was a sweet enjoyable read.
Strong characters. There is a mean-spirited character that attempts to thwart the hero and heroine from obtaining their happily ever after. Also enjoyed the chemistry between them and that both were widowed. The hero is also a devoted father who married young so he is in his early 40s. This is a second chance at love story.
