The next psychological thriller from the bestselling author of The Good Neighbors…
Autumn Sanderson goes by Lark now.
No one in her new life can know who she was.
No one from her old life can know where she is now.
Drowning in debt, Lark is desperate to land a job. When she finds herself at an interview for a mysterious company offering her an exorbitant salary, she jumps at the chance.
But … exorbitant salary, she jumps at the chance.
But things aren’t quite what they seem…
She soon learns of the company’s peculiar hiring process. Locked in a luxury cabin with five strangers who go only by their code names, Lark begins to question exactly what it is she signed up for.
The company, riddled with secrets and led by a cryptic boss known only as Mr. X, has strange rules and even stranger challenges for their candidates. After each day’s competition, the candidates gather around the dinner table to eat, drink, and spill their darkest secrets.
When Lark sees something she shouldn’t, she begins to ask questions, but soon gets a warning to stop. It’s obvious she’s in danger, but why? What does the company want? How much can she trust the others in the house? Trapped in the remote cabin with no technology allowed, Lark realizes she must take drastic measures to find out the truth.
The job of her dreams may cost her life…

I came across a picture of this book on Instagram and it just called to me, since It’s been my lifetime
pursuit to find my dream job. Also that it is listed under psychological fiction, my go to genre.
I’ve also put a lot of this Authors books on my TBR as they all sound like great interesting reads.
Well this book did not disappoint, not only was it an intriguing page turner, it also gives much to think about as far as the job interview process the co workers you work with, interact with and become friends with.
Bonus for a character named “Doreen”
I can’t wait to dive into some of Kiersten’s other books.
While I have said many times I refuse to ruin books for people… and this book is no different! I LOVED the writing style of the Author and the twist that I honestly never saw coming.
Our main character Autumn starts off explaining how she is desprately in need of a job to support herself and most importantly her very ill mother wh she needs to provide total care for.
She finds herself applying, interviewing and then moving onto a second interview for a job that sounds far too good to be true.
As you follow Autumn (Lark) through her journey you question everything along with her on this mysterious position she is interviewing for. So many secrets so many unknown things and no connections to the outside world… what has she gotten herself into? And could she honestly do ANYTHING for a salary of a half of a million dollars?
This was a 5 Star read and you will love it if you: Love huge twists that completely side blind you, make you think you will have a completely different outcome, and a mystery that slowly unravels.
/ 4.5 stars
Another fast and easy listen; this one with lots of suspense and a twist at the end which was brilliant even if it wasn’t necessarily what I wanted or expected.
Loved it, could not put it down, narration was great, now on to the next!!!

Fun -often I get bored -this kept me in suspense
This book was so unique, right from the first page you are hooked. It starts in the most peculiar way, and you don’t really know where it is going… but then things start to take off. And boy do they take off. This book was fast paced, with a plot that doesn’t quit and an intense cast of characters. You definitely won’t want to put it down, because you will have to know just how it ends. A very unconventional love story, filled with excitement and so many twists and turns.
Although it was labeled a psychological thriller I wouldn’t consider this fall in that category but more so of a mystery genre with a twist you won’t see coming. A light easy read that will keep you turning the pages
This was one of those you just can’t put down until finished. Kept me guessing till the very end. This was my first book to read by this author, but, will definitely not be my last! Loved it!
Firstly the blurb and cover caught my attention straight away. The story blew me away. I pulled an all nighter to read this as it was unputdownable.
Autumn thinks she has found her dream job. The salary is more than she could imagine. However the hiring process is like nothing she’s heard of before. Will she do whatever it takes to get her dream job.
This author is an amazing storyteller. I can’t wait to read more from her.
I don’t know how this author keeps coming up with all of these fantastic stories but I hope she never stops!! The Dream Job was haunting and exciting! The characters were great and the storyline was unlike anything I’ve read before.
I think this one is Kiersten Modglin’s Best One Yet!!!
*Lark* is the sweetest and she goes through 5 days of weird, unexplainable, mind teasing situations… the weirdest Job Interview ever! She is tough, smart, quick thinking, Brave, and is not about to back down to no one….
If you like Jodi Picoult you will Love Kiersten Modglin’s Books! I give the Dream Job 5 Stars
OMG I could not put this down! As with previous books by this author I was hooked by the first chapter and was on the edge of my seat, holding my breathe the whole read! With a gripping storyline filled with twists and turns and suspense this thrilling story totally blew my mind- I did not see most of what was coming, a sure sign of a true thriller!
Every avid reader has a few authors that are automatic one clicks and this is one of mine. I was hooked from the start with the way she can twist up and plot and have not been disappointed. This one is no different. At the end of her rope with no relief in sight she gets the call back on THE dream job. It’s so perfect yet too good to be true. It’s the perfect scene for trouble, because of course if it’s too good to be true than of course there’s something to worry about. Pitting all of the candidates against each other and using themselves against them it’s a game or is it. There is so much so severely wrong with this but it makes for good reading. Yup this author does it again. She takes the mundane every day life things and makes it into something that just floors you. You won’t see the twist until all you can do is say dang it she got me AGAIN.
Awesome read.
Autumn and the other characters work so well together. Each character comes from a different background and each one has a different personality.
Autumn gets an interview for a dream job. The money alone would help with her mom’s cemo therapy bills. During the interview Autumn asks questions but some are not answered. It makes Autumn wonder what kind of job she is applying for. Then she gets the call. She and 5 others will be at a secret location. As they go through a series of questions and challenges, Autumn begins to wonder if she can trust these people. Will Autumn make it till the end and get hired for the dream job? The ending was fantastic!! I stayed up all night reading this book. It is definitely a page turner. Twists, turns, mystery and intrigue. This book has it all and then some. I highly recommend this book. Be prepared to stay up all night, because you won’t be able to put it down.
Kiersten Modglin and her writing gets better and better. I loved this book from beginning to end. Once you start reading, you won’t be able to put it down. I can’t wait to see what Kiersten writes next. I’m so ready for the next one.
This is my first time reading this author and I really liked this book. It drew me in from the get-go and held me captive with its mystery and suspense till the very end.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another thriller from Kiersten that throws you for a loop. I don’t understand how she does it. But I swear every single one of her books get better and better. I am absolutely loving the new ones that she is writing. This one had me hooked from the beginning, had me on the edge of my seat until the shocking moment where I was almost ready to throw my kindle. I was then reading as fast as I could to see what happens.
Autumn is going for a job interview. The thing about this interview is she really doesn’t know anything about the company. No information is giving to her. She is in need of a good job with good money to take care of her mom who has cancer. A couple of weeks after the interview she hears back and is moving on to the next step. But that requires her to go away for a week. Odd, yep you said it. This is where things get really interesting. And let me tell you Kiersten writes the storyline so that you are turning every single page as fast as you can wanting to know what is going to happen next with Autumn. While she is on this second part of her interview, she is “Lark” and is with the other people that are also being interviewed. But she still really doesn’t know much about the job or the company she would be working for. All she knows is that odd things are going on around her and she might or might not be in danger.
This was an absolute thrilling, intriguing, suspenseful, mind blowing page turning book I could not put down. I loved Autumn’s character. She was strong, stubborn, wanted answers no matter what and would do anything to find out what exactly was going on. She didn’t just bury her head and go on with her day. She was a fighting.
Kiersten wrote another amazing thriller. Highly recommend reading this one. Cant wait to read more.
Autumn is drowning in debt, between her degree and her mom’s cancer treatment. And interview after interview and nothing. Until one interview call back. Only problem was they wouldn’t give her their company name, or who the boss was. And now they want here to agree to go to a fancy resort for a week, for further interviewing. $500,000 is enough to get her to go, but when another candidate goes missing after Autumn heard a struggle, she starts to doubt her decision?
Wow…..here I sit after racing through this book from day 1, and my jaw has dropped! Another twisty read by one of my favorite authors and boy it DID NOT dissapoint! The great thing about Kiersten is that no two of her books are alike and you never know what ride you will be on until you start with the first page and get on the roller coaster. This book was no different. A great premise, “what would you do for your dream job”? Anything? Or everything? Could you throw someone under the bus if that’s what it takes? Well could you? That is the dilemma that Autumn finds herself in…how far would she go to be the candidate that beats the other 5 candidates for this seemingly PERFECT job? Oh but wait, there’s another small problem…you have no idea what the company does or if any of it is even real or, if in fact there really IS a job to be had…it’s a struggle from the start… and so the quest begins. You will find yourself wondering what you would do and what moral dilemmas might come your way and how you would react…..you will finish this book thinking very differently than when you began, and you will be shaking your head because, once again you will not see the twist coming! Brilliant! Loved it and so will you!
Wowie! What a book. I have heard a lot about Kiersten Modglin and I’m here to tell you none of it was overkill especially when it comes to The Dream Job. This was such a great book. It was so fun to read. It kept me on the edge of my seat and flipping those pages as fast as I could.
On the surface it looked like a very benign story but, you kept getting a stronger and stronger feeling there was something sinister going on underneath. She was a master at building the suspense. I won’t even hint at the ending but, this book totally blew my mind! I’ll leave you to read it for yourself. Take my word for it, I’ve never read a book as unique as this one.
If you like psychological suspense, do yourself a favor and read The Dream Job. This is my first book by Kiersten Modglin and I will be reading more. She is a very prolific author so, I’ve gotta get going….I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
I recieved this book from the author for a fair and honest review.
The Dream Job is a mystery thriller about Lark, who is actually called Autumn Sanderson. No one can know who she is. She gets a new job that looks like a dream job, with a huge salary. The only thing, it’s a mysterious company with a mysterious hiring process. It’s up to her to find out what’s really going on. When I read the description of this book, I was immediately intrigued by the story. And well, it did not disappoint at all! There were many plot twists and I couldn’t stop reading to know what would happen next. I would definitely recommend this book!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
“You couldn’t be any safer that if you were at Fort Knox. Trust me, no one can get to you here.”
“If no one could get to me, it meant no one could save me.”
Talk about multiple WTF moments!! I can’t tell you how many times I asked myself what the heck was going on while I was reading this! A job too good to be true, an exorbitant salary, but with really , and I mean REALLY, strange contingencies. Six candidates, all from vastly different backgrounds, thrown together in a elegant cabin, and put through odd games and exercises, all hoping to prove to the nameless company that they, and they alone, deserve the spot.
It was like reading a reality show. I know that sounds weird but it’s true!! I was reading episode 1 of Employment Survivor. Who is the cut-throat who would betray anyone to get the job? Who’s lying to get the upper hand? Who’s friend and who is foe? Who will be left standing, and what will become of the others?
Autumn “Lark” Sanders starts nosing around for answers to this mysterious job and the secrets the company seems to be hiding and I was questioning everything along with her. Are they in danger? If so, why? Are they all connected somehow and they don’t know it? Is it all legit and she’s just imagining it?
GAH!! I just didn’t know! Then, the ending floored me!! I wasn’t even close to figuring it out. I should be used to it by now. I’ve read nearly every one of this author’s books and I have yet to figure out the ending before I finish! I have dubbed this author the Queen of Twists and Turns. Well, the Queen has raised her scepter and we should all bow down. Hail the Queen!
