A fantasy romance boxed set this book brings me so much joy! The Dragon Saga Books 1-3 by Nicolette Andrews engaged me from the first page and kept me coming back for more. The author introduces readers to a young priestess, former princess, exiled. She is performing a ceremony with the other priestesses on the mountain when something strange happens. The barrier that surrounds the shrine is harder for her to get through…she finds it strange and notices no one else has that issue. This is just one of many events to come that will trigger the release of the dragon who has been imprisoned there for over 500 years. Once he is free, his plan is to hunt down the descendants of the priestess who imprisoned and betrayed him and end their existence. But there is a more impending truth and twist of Fate that they must both come to terms with and fight against if they are to survive. The dragon was once the balance of the area, and with him taken away things were thrown out of balance. The author raises the question…can these two move past their differences to heal the world? Or will darkness win?
When I first started reading this book it was to see if there was any correlation to one of my favorite animes of all time…Inuyasha. I have to admit…that I was NOT disappointed. I saw the similarities and tie-ins quite often and I loved every minute of it. That is probably what ended up hooking me in the most when it came to this story/series/saga. Seeing the two characters go back and forth and then the gradual addition of others…I practically devoured this book. There are hints of romance throughout and I love how it develops and even falters at times. The author sprinkles in moments of humor in the right moments that had me giggling and eagerly page-turning to see what was going to happen next. I loved the appropriately placed flashbacks and reflective moments that gave me more insight into the characters and who they once were in a past life.
Normally, when characters are being bratty, snotty or just plain arrogant I want to reach through the book and smack them, but oddly enough…I never had that compulsion with these characters. If I didn’t know any better I’d say the author cast a spell to keep me from that. LOL! There are some moments of disappointment in the characters, but I felt that this just added to the quality of the story. It brought the characters to life more and helped take them to another level.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I couldn’t get enough of these characters and I loved how this book lured me in with the hints of one of my favorite anime throughout. If you love a good fantasy novel/boxed set then this is a good choice to make. The characters will lure you in, and the storyline will keep you engaged to the end. I can see myself to returning to these books in the future to revisit and relive their journey with them again and again.
Love this series!!!
I’ve read the first of these books and loved it enough that I feel comfortable recommending the whole bookset.
Here’s my review of that first book:
I love the story in Nicolette Andrews’ The Priestess and the Dragon (Dragon Saga Book 1). The whole concept of a smart-mouthed priestess like Suzume bring exiled from glitter to a remote mountain shrine, where she is to live in poverty and be trained to become a priestess, only to discover that she’s the reincarnation of the lover who jilted the arrogant dragon she’s awakened and which now wants to use her as his tool for revenge against herself (NR knowing who she actually is)? Perfect, even if kinda complicated to even try to actually explain. An exciting tale in which Suzume discovers new powers, takes on a whole lot of problems and delivers one heck of a fun ride for we readers. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
Addendum: ok, I’ve read the other two books now, in one mighty binge as they were too addictive to put down. As I suspected would be the case, the quality and enjoyability (if that’s even a word) more than held up. Totally fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the boxed set. I am not one for romance, but the books held my attention until the end. I loved the stories.
A great bookset. This is a Fantastic bookset especially if you love fast paced and real page turners. The Author does a fantastic job at bringing out the Characters. And if you love Dragons and Magic its definitely got that wow factor. I highly recommend this bookset
