What I Think: First, let me admit that I chose the excerpt I did because it made me laugh out loud when I read this tale. It’s the kind of mundane thing many of us would do if we were dating a dragon we can’t get enough of. Anyway, let me get my mind out of the gutter and on to the review.
I love dragons. I love them so much. Did I mention I love dragons? So I was in a hurry to read this tale and it hit the spot. The story kicks off with Aidan turning up from nowhere but determined to start a new life while being watched over by his boss. The boss who won’t give him any information. The boss who finds ways to run and avoid him while looking after him. The boss who is suffering heartbreak and PTSD yet has to report Aidan to the King.
The connection between them is too strong and immediate for it not to be more and the secret, when revealed, tears them apart. Aidan is in for a tough ride as his dragon stays rooted in the past and unable to move forward. I thought Aidan being mythos would help but no, this idiot just has to find problems with everything and makes me want to smack him in spite of understanding his fears (being reasonable is a burden). He’s laying down so much hurt that I hope Aidan doesn’t make it easy for him, no matter how much he craves.
But in true Mme. Jenn style, more secrets are revealed that leave me floundering, not knowing whom to support. Yet these two never lose their focus, no matter what secrets are revealed, no matter the betrayals, they are grounded in the firm truth that no matter the scars they carry, their hearts know where home lies.
Verdict? A modern-day fairy tale that reminds you to follow your heart because only your heart knows where home truly lies.
Dragons!!! . Need I say more?!?!? Of all the mythical/supernatural beings, dragons are my absolute favorite. Adian and Nassim have quite a journey ahead of them. I could not stop reading this book. I would love to have another story about them. Or maybe some of the other characters in the story. You will not be disappointed reading this book.
4 1/2 Stars
I do enjoy this author. Her take on paranormal characters is unique and fun. While there are dangers and drama within these pages, there is also a lightness and freshness that makes it a relaxing good time.
I became invested in the lives of Aiden and Nassim right away.
Aiden’s’ past catches up with him once more, not that he remembers it. As he tries to reclaim his memories, Aiden discovers more than he bargained for. The paranormal aspects of his life are very well written. I wasn’t left floundering and wondering about the wherefores and whys of this new-to-me entity. This is some good stuff.
The author handles his amnesia well. I was continually wondering and watching, trying to figure out what was going on, as I lacked the patience to wait for the author to let me in on the secrets being held. It was worth the wait, though. Aidens confusion and emotional distress were palpable, and I was rooting for him to get back that which he had lost, his memory, and his lover.
Poor Nassim. I wanted to give the big dragon hugs as he suffered through Aiden’s disappearance and subsequent return with no memory. Poor guy. I could feel his pain and dismay as the book moved along.
Aiden and Nassim is a good, strong couple with intense passion and a love that makes me satisfied with their HEA.
My only complaint is that the book isn’t longer, haha. I would enjoy more from this couple and this author.
First,I’m going to start with saying that I really enjoyed reading this book ,although some things left me a bit perplexed. One of them is Aiden’s taking information at face value.
For example, the guy wakes up naked and without memories, right? I would be terrified and distrusting . Yet Aiden trusts Nassim, goes to his home and everything. I can hardly relate to that. But I can relate to his his confusion to how familiar some things are,or to his dismay about the way he feels about Nassim.
I was intrigued by Aidan’s story. ‘ is a fast paced mystery/romance with slowly revealing details and clues. I liked the setting and the characters, the excitement of unraveling secrets, the steady rekindling of Aidan’s and Nassim’s relationship.
