This isn’t a story about a love triangle. There is no triangle involved. This isn’t a story about an accidental pregnancy. Although having a baby with her . . . I would. This isn’t a story about lies and deception, even though at times I’ve lied to myself. No, this is my story.A story about sacrifice. A story about a man who fell in love with the wrong girl. A story I wish I never had to tell. … story I wish I never had to tell.
This is a story about the true meaning of the downside of love.

Oh man so I went into this book feeling two different ways, one very heartbroken and very angry! And I wasn’t prepared to end up feeling the way I ended up feeling and how my feelings changed wholeheartedly. That’s all do to the wonderful writing Meghan done. The way she told this story and made you feel so deep and real I just can’t even put it into words!! This is one of the most emotional books I’ve ever read and I loved every single minute of it!! I devoured every single beautiful word!! This is my favorite Meghan book to date!!! If you haven’t read any of her books this duet is a must!! It is definitely on my list of top 2018 top reads!! It’s like I can’t say enough about this book but I don’t have the words and that hardly ever happens to me!!! 5 Stars is no were near enough for this book!!! Everything ended up exactly how it should have…. absolutely perfection is what this book is!!! But all I’m sayin is someone else needs a book from this duet…. just make one more Meghan lol
I highly highly recommend this book!!!!!! – By Tina
Meghan Quinn has done it again!! What an amazing duet! I am so in love with this book and the ending to this amazing duet – though I do hope there is another story to follow!!
FIVE HUGE STARS!!
Firstly, you have to read The Upside of Falling before starting on this book. With Colby off at flight school and Rory carrying on with her life, Colby’s best friend, Stryder is in desperate need of help as he spirals out of control. Ryan and Rory step up to help Stryder and give him purpose in life and a feeling of self worth. It was as beautifully written as the first, but I was a little sad with how the story panned out. The Epilogue was a little trite and I really hope that doesn’t become another duet – its a little too weird! All in all, well worth the read.
It was an amazing book and it left me in shock for like 4 days and I’m just now writing this review.. I can’t say much, but I’m gonna say this.. read this book with an open mind and be prepared to be shocked and left raw because this author writes the feels like no one else does!
Guys, I have to be totally honest here — I have no idea how to review this book in a way that won’t spoil the story. If you’ve not read the duet and you’re planning to, tread carefully. I’m going to try my best to not give things away, but I’m also not sure how to talk about my feelings without doing just that.
I’ll be the first to admit I was a) heartbroken, b) nervous and c) a little angry when I started this book. But, at the same time, I trusted Meghan to give us the story she wanted us to have. Even if I was more than a little unsure about how things were playing out. It was impossible not to fall for the idea of Rory and Colby while reading The Upside of Falling. Their connection seemed real and their love seemed true and, even through the struggles, I hoped they would be able to work things out. I doubted it, though, when I read the ending. Yet, a little piece of me still held out hope.
The Downside of Love isn’t the story I thought I wanted. I can’t lie about that. But, what I can say is that while it might not have been what I wanted, I truly believe it’s what was right. My brain was basically shouting “No! No! No!” for awhile, but my heart felt differently. As much as I loved the first book, I can’t deny this just fit.
While I love Meghan and trust her work, I did worry about how this duet would play out. I tend to be such a shipper that I’m basically ride or die when it comes to my favorites, unwilling to see there just might be something else that works better. I went in with as much of an open mind as I could manage and I fell in love. This duet won’t be for everyone, but it worked for me. While this story arc is complete, I can’t wait to see what happens next for another character (or two?). Write quickly, Meghan.
FAVORITE QUOTES
Do I tell her love her? Do I tell her I saw her first, that I stepped aside, despite wanting her more than anything? Do I tell her that she is not only my best friend, but the woman of my dreams?
“For the first time in my life, Rory, I want to be the gentleman you deserve.”
“My life is magnificent because of you. I am more than happy. I’m content and full because you also breathe life into me. And that’s the sort of life I want to live. And it’s only possible with you.”
The downside of love is heartache and uncertainty, but the upside of falling is finding an everlasting love that will carry you through a lifetime of happiness.
Life is full of chances. Opportunities. Challenges. But it’s what you do with them that counts.
I can’t believe I am saying this about one of my favorite authors, but I disliked this book so hard! What the heck?? I was so upset by what these 2 did to Colby I couldn’t sleep!! And Rory had the nerve to act like he abandoned Stryder?? She was awful. Stryder was awful. They deserve each other. Poor Colby! Stupid plot!!
Once in a while, you cross paths with a book that really makes you think, that makes you feel and that will swallow you whole. This is that kind of a book.
Be aware – this is a duet and absolutely cannot be read as a standalone. If you’ve read the previous book you’ll understand just how shocking the ending was and therefore understand why I dived into this book straight away.
I don’t want to share much and it will be a short review as there’s potential of revealing too much. The Downside of Love reminded me once again that love is not black and white. It’s not straight forward. Love has shades, variations and turns and twists.
This is a story of unconditional, selfless love. About sacrifice, about putting others before you.
Get your tissues ready…
In the The Downside of Love the story continues for Rory, Colby, Ryan and Stryder, and just as the first installment it’s riddled with the same heartfelt emotion that’ll have you near tears one moment and in full on swoon mode the next. This was such a heartwarming conclusion to the duet, the instant my eyes landed on the first page I was pulled right back into these characters lives, and once again completely wrapped up in every facet of it.
After the cliffhanger I wasn’t too sure about what was awaiting me, but I have to admit Ms. Quinn worked some serious literary magic here, magic that had me completely mesmerized from start to finish. It’s hard to say much about this beautifully crafted tale without giving important details away so I will just conclude my review with saying, if there is one story you read this summer, please make it this one, this duet will leave a serious dent on your heart, it’s so incredibly moving!!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Im really at a loss….0f words…..
For how good this story was!
The most beautiful book I have ever read! It was exceptional!!
This might be the next book in the duet however it is the most enthralling story, I just feel so much for both the characters!!
Meghan has written something so absolutely incredible, it will touch your heart so much just as it did mine! The words that were written were so wonderful. The caring side and the inner turmoil just made me want to give them both a big hug. And also #HeIsMine!! I may share….lol.
The intimate moments were so intense, but also the connections were truly amazing!
But this book tore me apart, it broke me, it made me want so many good things to happen but I truly wasnt sure if it would! If a man doesn’t know his self worth from those who really and undeniably love him, what happens!??? This is something you need to read for yourself…. that is all I will say.
Meghan’s best work to date, of that I have no doubt! She has nailed this series to perfection.
Where to start…The Downside of Falling is the second book in the Blue Line Duet Books by Meghan Quinn. Unlike most books, these 2 books cannot be read as stand alone. But that’s okay. With these two books, you will still get your HEA. That being said BE PREPARED. If you are like me and have read a lot of Meghan Quinn’s books, you know she is a quirky fantastic author that does AMAZING RomCom books. But this book..this book is MORE.
Usually, I like to give a little background about the book. The characters, a bit about the story, things like that. With this book. I don’t know what to say. Other than READ IT.
Yes, Meghan Quinn steps out of her norm but the depth of the characters, the richness of the story? Meghan Quinn wows. In my review of book 1, I said that was her best book written yet. I stand corrected. These 2 books together show the range of Meghan Quinn’s writing. These stories are emotional. You will FEEL with this book. A LOT. There are bit’s of Meghan Quinn’s comedic humor in them but the overall stories are outstanding.
As I said before. Pick this book up. READ IT. LOVE IT. I promise you, you won’t regret it.
And it is finally here!
No names will be given in this review as I will not spoil this magnificent story of your heart finding love and never giving up on going after it.
Be ready to be shocked, angsty, feel tons of emotions on where this love story will take you.
Like Selena Gomez sings: “The heart wants what it wants”
My take from this book is be the family that you want to be and don’t let others bring you down.
Love with your heart always, not with how you think others want you to love.
This Duet is my favorite books from Author Meghan Quinn.
She smashed it with this duet.
A Top 2018 Must Read Book!
I had no clue what to expect from this book, especially the way book 1 ended. I was nervous because Rory was not my favorite by a long shot but Stryder made up for it. I was here for their story. I was a ball of nerves until the very end.
I’ve started this review a half-dozen times and I’m still struggling to know how to put my love for this story into words…
This story is unexpected. It’s raw and real and emotional. No matter how you think this story will play out, you’re wrong.
And unlike the first book, we’ll get a different perspective. Stryder’s perspective. And trust me when I say what you learn about him will make you fall in love so hard for this broken man.
Like the blurb says – it’s not really a love triangle. But I promise, you want to ride along this journey and see what happens. Make sure you bring plenty of tissues and set aside plenty of time for epic binge-reading. Once you start this book – once you start this whole duet – you won’t want to put it down.
NO SPOILERS!
The Downside of Love was absolutely BRILLIANT! It was an incredibly unique, sexy, emotional, and beautiful conclusion to the Blue Line Duet, and I absolutely loved it with all of my heart and soul! The storyline and characters were phenomenal, and Meghan Quinn completely blew me away with her extraordinary talent and writing style. The Downside of Love is the perfect example of why I love Meghan Quinn and her amazing books so much. Not only can she write hot and hilarious romantic comedies, but sexy, emotional, and heartbreaking/heartwarming contemporary romances as well. The Downside of Love completely blew my mind in every best way possible, and I am so excited for what’s to come!
The storyline was completely unexpected, but even better than I ever could’ve imagined. It was so much different than I thought it would be, and certainly took me by surprise. Even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, I truly couldn’t have loved it more. It was phenomenal from beginning to end, and I absolutely adored it with my entire being. It was emotional and heartbreaking at times, and there were a few aspects that I didn’t like whatsoever, but it also made me so freaking happy that I could’ve burst with tears of joy. The Blue Line Duet has definitely been the most unique and memorable duet that I’ve ever read, and has hands down been my favorite one to date. Meghan Quinn blew me away with this story, and I will never, ever forget it.
The characters were even better in this installment, and I couldn’t have loved them more. I loved their personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and the strong connection and friendship they had together. Since I don’t want to give spoilers away, I won’t say any of their names, because that might ruin it for people who haven’t read it yet. I will say that the two main characters have been some of my top favorite fictional characters ever. I loved them to pieces and couldn’t get enough of them and their story. It definitely wasn’t an easy journey, but all of the ups and downs were completely worth it in the end. Every feeling and emotion I felt while reading this book will be ingrained in me for a long time to come, and I can’t wait to return to this story and these characters over and over again. They will stay in my heart and soul forever.
The Downside of Love was a unique, sexy, beautiful, and emotional conclusion to the Blue Line Duet, and I would HIGHLY recommend it and The Upside of Falling! Meghan Quinn truly outdid herself with this duet, especially The Downside of Love, and I was absolutely ecstatic with the way everything ended. The Blue Line Duet was unlike any duet I’ve read before, and I will hold it near and dear to my heart forever. After reading the epilogue, I am so freaking excited to see what Meghan Quinn has in store next!
ARC received in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly wasnt sure what to expect with this book. The way the 1st book ended……
This is a hard review to write because I don’t want to give away spoilers.
Read the first book and then I promise you will be ok with this one.
Great story, great emotional read.
I am in absolute awe of Meghan Quinn right now. As a blogger, I read SO many books a month, it’s just one right after another. I read, review and repeat. I have NEVER been sucked into a book where all I can do is think about it non-stop and beg the author for the second book! To get to the point where I can’t read anything else because of the massive book hangover I have from being completely consumed by this story? It has never happened until now…
I’ve sat in front of this computer trying to find the appropriate words to describe this story for quite awhile now and I know that this review won’t even do it justice. Sweet. Heartbreaking. Sexy. Beautiful. Painful. Breathtaking. A journey that I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue on after the first book but I’m so happy I did. I fell in love with every single aspect of this story, even when some of it was down right painful.
The Upside of Falling & The Downside of Love are hands down Meghan Quinn’s best work to date and my #1 read of the year.
Omg I just devoured this book. It pretty much just consumed my life. When this hit my kindle last night, I stopped my current read and I had to dive right in. This story was absolutely beautiful and brilliant. I hands down love this book more than the first. I’m not really an emotional person (cause emotions are ew) but they were all over the place with this one. See that blob over there? That’s my cold dead heart that was ripped out of my body and thrown on the floor. God, this story is so g-dang good. For really reals, this duet is a must read. I’m not just saying that because I love this authors words and they speak to me. I feel like this was her best book to date and I’ve pretty much loved them all. Gah, the feels are so strong right now. This is reread worthy. I just need to throw it out there again on my huge mega love for this duet. Book hangover!
My favorite quote:
“The downside of love is heartache and uncertainty, but the upside of falling is finding an everlasting love that will carry you through a lifetime of happiness. Life is full of chances. Opportunities. Challenges. But it’s what you do with them that counts.” <—-YES! Heart eyes and an emotional high five!
OMG, The Downside of Love is an amazing read. It can not be read as a standalone, you must read The Upside of Falling first. The Upside of Falling left me feeling broken. I didn’t have a book hangover but I had that uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I went over the possibilities of what happened a the end The Upside of Falling and what I thought would happen in this one. This one took me by surprise. This one went in a completely different direction then I expected and I totally loved it. It has it’s ups and down in the emotions department and that uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach came back when I started reading and it stayed with me throughout the story. It’s a great read that left me whole and happy at the end and maybe wanting a little more on some of the characters.
I went into this book nervous. I knew I was gonna struggle and I did. I still loved the emotion behind the characters as well as the dynamic between them. Its a great story about all the ups, downs and in betweens of love. It left me raw and really emotional.
I’m giving The Downside Of Love four stars despite the fact that I wasn’t too thrilled with it, Ms. Quinn wrote it with a lot of passionate and heart. This book is unpredictable, a mind f*** and it evoked mixed emotions from me. I had a difficult time reading it and I struggled with it as I was really hoping for a different outcome. I definitely loved The Upside Of Falling better than The Downside Of Love. I was disappointed with the unexpected plot however it certainly doesn’t mean that others won’t love it. The Downside Of Love is worth reading and I consider it to be a good book.
