Having agreed to a double date with Hannah, Jennifer Page was driving in the middle of nowhere to meet them at a popular sushi restaurant. But it was miles from everything on a dusty, pot-holed road! And it didn’t even have Wi-Fi!
When the GPS said she reached her destination, Jennifer knew there was no sushi place nearby. But Hannah called her name and she saw her dressed in a puffy orange vest that was definitely not attractive. Her boyfriend didn’t even have a shirt on! Nor did the hot guy, her date probably, have a shirt. Uh, where’s the sushi? Apparently she misread the text that said whitewater rafting, not sushi – she had spilled some sauce on that part of the word, so assume ‘r’ was part of ‘restaurant’. And here she was in a dress and high heels! She did want to find her true love while on a date, but definitely not out here in the middle of the woods! She was absolutely NOT an outdoor type of girl!
Outdoor adventurist Dylan Douglas is surprised when his blind date shows up in high heels for their date! She still gives it a try, and he admires her for that. And both are willing to try another date. But can the outdoor, rugged guy and the absolute city girl find a way to bring their lifestyles together? Can each teach the other the value of a little adventure added to the dependable, hard-working career goals to make a better-balanced person?
This was a wonderful story of two people who, despite their differences, are the absolute best choice either could make! They complete each other and help each other find more balance in their life. This is a funny story line that keeps the reader laughing and enjoying these great characters as they fall in love. You definitely won’t want to miss this one!
Ms Hatler has penned an excellent and amusing tale that has a number of laugh out load moments when you picture the various mishaps Jennifer has on occasion

I cannot imagine whitewater rafting without any preparation. It is literally a possibly lethal adventure for the unprepared. I grew up kayaking, tubing and rafting on the American river. It is really not a joke if you do not have good people beside you.
Jen takes the risk and gives it a shot though. Despite a leaky raft, she has a blast – and a hunky guide and teacher, who still managed a fun date.
Jen wants to launch her own designs for travel bags. Can she take a gamble with her career and romance?
Fun and sweet read!

Funny love story. Jennifer is a lovable, stressed out, over worked city woman. Working a fulltime job while trying to start up her luggage business with her own designs. She doesn’t have time to date. And then her assistant sets up a double date. But not at a sushi restaurant where Jennifer thought they were meeting. Oh no! White water rafting. And talk about totally unprepared. This was a wonderful story and it gets better and better. Jennifer and Dylan (who is the adventurous type) seem like total opposites, but as they continue to have their “do over dates” they bring out the best in each other. But Jennifer has a lot going on with starting a new business and meeting with her investor. Can she give Dylan time and a chance? Dylan was so endearing. He never got angry at Jennifer for all of the times she messed up. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
What do you get when you pair the ultimate Type-A city girl with a laid-back adventurer? You get the sweetly funny misadventures of Jennifer and Dylan. Their story shows Murphy’s Law hard at work, and makes me wonder if the author has a bit of a vindictive streak with how ruthlessly she wields the question: “so what really is the absolute worst that could happen?” I loved watching Dylan teach Jennifer how to spread her wings, and her, in turn, showing him it’s okay to plant roots. This book was the perfect candy confection I needed. Now I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next in the series.

This novel is definitely a case of opposites attracting. Jen and Dylan are as different as Gucci shoes and white water rafting. He is an adventure seeker and risk taker who travels the world over, and she is a person who works day and night at a more than full-time job while trying to get her own business off the ground. How Dylan quells his wanderlust and finds Jennifer’s adventurous side is a funny tale that leads to a great happily ever after.

Jennifer Page and Dylan Douglas are setup on a double date by her best friend and her date. When Jennifer read her e-mail she thought it said to meet at The new sushi restaurant so she did not eat lunch. She was so excited because she loved sushi and she was getting a date out of the deal. When she pulled up where everyone was waiting on her, she was shocked by what she saw. There was a raft waiting to be put in the water, everyone except her had the proper clothing for this adventure. She had her expensive high heel shoes and nice clothes on.
Dylan is an outdoor person. He is not afraid to try anything that has to do with anything outside. No threat too big for him.
Every time Jennifer and Dylan tried to go on a date, the universe was against them. Jennifer finally got the nerve to face her fears and done things she never would have dreamed of doing.
I really loved this book and can not wait to read another by this author.

Two polar opposites that don’t seem to be complatible but have chemistry and sparks to light up the sky. This is a really cute, endearing and sweet story between Jennifer and Dylan who learn a lot from being in each other’s company…enough to last forever. I completely enjoyed this laugh out loud feel good romance.

Jennifer is a work driven city girl. Dylan is a bucket list fulfilling adventure guy. Their first meeting/blind date is so funny. They both handled it quite well and boy did the sparks fly. A 2nd do over leads to another. She thinks they are too different and he thinks their differences are what bring them together. Of course there is angst but I loved the ending.

There is a reason Susan Hatler is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author!
I enjoyed this story so much! There were many laugh-out-loud moments as Jennifer found herself at the wrong (for her) place at the right time.
Dylan was dreamy and so patient with Jennifer’s ineptitude with anything having to do with the outdoors. And with her fears over so many things.
If you enjoy books that are funny, sweetly romantic, and deal with overcoming fears, you are bound to love this one!
I received a copy of this book from the author but am not required to give it a positive review. The above is my honest opinion.
There were so many “funny”, depending upon which side of the date you were on, scenes on this first date that I don’t know where to start. When Jennifer Page arrives at what she thinks is a sushi date…in stilettos…and it gets funnier from there. Poor Jennifer – she is SUCH a city girl, desperately out of place in the wilderness – but she sure does try to get past her hang-ups. And Dylan Douglas, outdoor adventurer extraordinaire, is the person Jennifer is meeting for this “sushi” date, that is actually nothing close to a restaurant date. It is so much funnier when the author describes it but trust me, you will laugh.
Both Dylan and Jennifer need to work out issues from their pasts in order to move ahead but it is fascinating to watch them deal with their wants, and needs, and wishes. The supporting characters are great, too, and they make you wish you had such crazy, good friends. I like both of these characters and although they each had some “boy” and “girl” moments, they were always good people, to their very souls. There is a defining moment for Jennifer, very near the end, that is both courageous, absolutely crazy (imho), funny and touching. Fun, quick read for me.
This is a really enjoyable book!
It’s a feel-good, funny & moving
story. Jen & Dylan’s first date was
“the” ultimate disaster!
They’re total opposites.
She a city girl & he’s Mr. Adventure.
But their attraction is undeniable.
Would a do-over date make a difference?
Jen & Dylan’s story makes for the
perfect romance.
A MUST READ!!
Thanks to an email mishap, Jennifer thinks she’s joining friends for a double date at a sushi restaurant. In fact, they’re going whitewater rafting. Which is inconvenient because (1) Jennifer is starving, (2) she’s wearing a dress and high heels, and (3) she’s expecting an important call from a business investor. After borrowing a change of clothes, Jennifer quickly adjusts, impressing blind date Dylan with her willingness to go with the flow. But will getting stranded in the middle of nowhere cost her the business deal she’s spent months developing?
This is classic rom com, with its share of zany adventures and physical humor. Dylan helps Jennifer break out of her rut, try new things, and develop the confidence to demand what she wants in life. It was satisfying to watch her transformation.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Lighthearted and good
The Double Date Disaster is the second book in the Do-Over Date series and is a cute romance. The story is about Dylan Douglas and Jennifer Page and their opposites attract story. I did like the characters but at times I found myself just rolling my eyes at Jennifer and wondering if she really had a brain in her head. This is just a lighthearted, fun, and entertaining read. Not the best book I have read by Susan Hatler but still good.

This is book two of the Do-Over Date series and the main character is Jennifer Page, who lives and works full time in Sacramento, but works at her dream in her spare time. She designed a travel bag specifically for women and wants to open up her own shop selling her luggage designs, so she can give up her day job. She is highly organized with her plans for her future, loves driving a very clean car, but is extremely messy when eating at her desk at work. Possibly a bit of a klutz! She works such long hours, she has little time for a love life. But when her best friend Hannah asks if she is interested on a double date with her that evening, she prints off the email and drops it in a food spill. She thinks Hannah is suggesting they go to a place called Whitewater Sushi, and follows her GPS to a location out in the middle of nowhere. She wonders what on earth her friend has arranged and gets out of her car when her friend comes up to her door, to see her casually dressed and wearing a big, bright orange vest, not realising at first that it is a life jacket. The man beside her, Patrick, is wearing just shorts, as is the handsome man that comes up to them all, her date Dylan Douglas.
They all look at her extremely oddly, as she is still wearing smart clothes and her high heels, and Hannah tries to ask if she made a mistake about what they were supposed to be doing. Adding that she was quite surprised Jennifer had agreed to even go whitewater rafting in the first place, when she knew Jennifer had an aversion to the outdoors. Dylan offers to lend her some more suitable clothing and everything else she may need, such as a life jacket, sun screen and bug spray. Jennifer is definitely not the sort for this type of activity and even though she is holding on for her life, she still screams her head off, as they begin moving down the river, amusing the others immensely. The thought of not even trying when she has such a handsome man as her date, makes her push her comfort zone a bit. He offers to let her try to paddle, only for her to answer her phone when a call comes in from her investor for her business that she has been desperate for. Shame she drops the paddle and that isn’t the only thing that goes wrong with the rafting adventure! Dylan starts talking to her and she finds it easy to do with him, finding out a lot about why he loves doing a lot of adventurous activities.
They are both clearly attracted to each other, but are complete opposites in their lifestyles and future dreams. Even though there are factors against them getting together, they go for another date, this time at Jen’s favourite sushi restaurant. Matters don’t run quite as smoothly as either of them would have hoped, but there is a perfectly good reason behind that, if they had the courage to speak to each other. Talking to Dylan is so easy and he even has more suggestions for her new business and some other lines she might need to add to it, which complements her original idea. Her childhood and home life made her somewhat fearful of love, and an incident whilst camping turned her off adventure and the wilds. After meeting Dylan and knowing what he had to overcome and how it changed his outlook, her first adventure going rafting, started badly, but at the end she had managed to overcome her fear of the water and enjoy herself. Now she must decide on her investor’s conditions for her new business and how they differ from her own plans, and if she can settle for less than what she has dreamed of. She has to decide if she can be a bit more adventurous and take a chance on unknown experiences and on Dylan. It will involve some drastic changes, but could be well worth it. A lovely short story of love between opposites and how you need to take a chance sometimes, to get what you truly deserve. I look forward to reading more of this series and other books by this author. Good clean fun and romance with a HEA ending. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This had plenty of laughs along with awkward moment as well as some sweet and self refection. Jennifer and Dylan couldn’t be more opposite but the adventures they go on together trying to date and get to know each other are fabulous and makes for the perfect heartwarming read that leaves you with satisfied smile on your face when you get to the end!

All the potential in the world, the developing storyline was interesting and had the makes of a wonderful novel; however, I never could become engaged with my attention fully invested. I will definitely have to give this story another try later on.

I enjoyed this really sweet story about Dylan and Jennifer. They meet on a double date and Dylan is an adventurer, a risk taker who is traveling the world fulfilling his dreams.
Jennifer is taking risks and trying to start her own business to fulfill her dreams of stability and financial independence – things she felt she lost when her parents divorced when she was young. She believes her work is everything.
I really liked how Jen stretched her limits to be with Dylan and how he seemed to really understand what she wanted. I even liked how she fought her desire to be with him even when it was so clear they were meant for each other. It was easy to root for these characters achieving their HEA.
