She was always the one.Or so I thought.Turns out my instincts were dead wrong.Years ago I was faced with the choice between two women. Both were perfect in opposite ways. One was carefree and against commitment. The other was a woman you’d bring home to mom. I was young, naïve and stupid. I’m sure you can guess who I chose. Now, I’m older, wiser and know what the hell I want. So, when the same … the hell I want.
So, when the same two women pop back into my life it’s my chance for a do-over. But they flipped the script. Just like me, they want different things now. Leaving me with one choice—convince the woman I want that she wants me too.

This is the first book I have read in this series! I was not disappointed! It was a fast paced book that sucked me in right away! I loved Knox and Kamea. I loved that there was no long drawn out unnecessary drama. This is book five in the series and while you can tell that other characters had their story told already, you won’t feel like you are missing out. This is a true standalone in an interconnected series. It does definitely make me want to read the books before this one! Great cast of characters! I would definitely recommend this book!
Received an arc for a honest review.
The Do-Over is a fantastic romance! It’s everything you want out of a Piper Rayne romance. I love each and everyone of The Rooftop Crew and can’t wait for Jax’ story! This was a fantastic addition and one you won’t want to miss out on. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I purchased my own copy.
Knox has always been a mystery and boy does that mystery get solved in his book! When Knox Whelan falls he falls hard and it is a beauty to see and read. Piper Rayne made me fall in love with this crew and Knox is no exception.
Tall, dark, brooding leading man that you want and know deserves his happily ever after. The way that they weave his storyline to make you yearn and pine for a happy ending was brilliant. The underlying theme of friendship that is never ending and having people in your corner no matter what is what adds to the awesome-sauce in The Do-Over.
Can you get a do-over? Know did and he did so in a way that made me giddy and happy and all that I come to enjoy from a book written by Piper Rayne!
The leading lady will of course be strong, caring, gorgeous and complete and utter perfection. You will enjoy watching her fall just as are for Knox! This Rooftop Crew is fabulous and will make you elated!!!
I knew before starting this book that I was going to love Knox (I was already halfway there anyway) but I wasn’t expecting to swoon so much over him. He is the sweetest guy. I love his protectiveness. I’m not going into any details about this story or Knox’s woman because I don’t do spoilers. I will say I loved her and she is the perfect match for Knox.
This is another fantastic book from Piper Rayne and I definitely recommend this book (and the rest of the series).
I did not go into this book feeling like I knew what was going to happen. From what we’ve seen of Knox and Leilani in the previous Rooftop Crew Series, I had no idea what their relationship really entailed. Knox keeps it close to the vest so you don’t really get to know him that well in the previous books, but this book ended up being more than I could have imagined! I love where Piper Rayne took this. Both of the characters were fantastic and seeing them come together, despite the other things that are they’re dealing with, was so satisfying. Their past experiences in life have definitely left a mark and are impacting what they’ve been going through as adults. There was just a lot of depth and I really loved getting to know Knox!
As always the Rooftop Crew always brings such a fun and happy element to the books. They’re just such a strong group of friends that support each other, are super kind, and are just trying to do the best for themselves in life. I love how the women in this group get together and support each other. They are the female friends we all wish we had. They’ve had some struggles, but they own them and persevere. They are working hard to go after their dreams and I love it. Next up is Jax and Frankie, and with her daughter Jolie’s Christmas wish to Santa at the end of this book, we all know it’s going to be a great story. I cannot wait to get into Jax’s mind!! Thank you to Piper Rayne and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!
**4.5 Stars**
This was a bit of a different take on a second chance romance and I adored it. This was the first book that I read in this series and I was a little concerned I would be lost/missing some backstory but that was not the case. Yes, it was clear that there were other stories before Knox’s but I didn’t feel like I missed anything without reading those first. I truly enjoyed Knox and his lady. They were so perfect together. I loved how caring he is and how he stepped up to take care of her when she needed it most. I loved that he wanted her to get on her feet before they started anything but that also made me want to punch him – like wake up dude! you can’t lose her again. I loved how he made her stronger, how her feelings for him helped make her stronger, believe in herself, give her motivation to add on to her business. I also loved how she made him realize what a ding dong he was all those years ago and made him step up. These two are just perfect together and I couldn’t get enough of their story. It was entirely too short but now I need to go back and read the previous 4 box while I patiently wait for Jax’s story.
I have loved The Rooftop Crew series from the beginning, and Knox has always been the one who intrigued me most. Because he was always on the sidelines, and we only got small glimpses of him in each book, the mystery surrounding him has definitely been building up. And everything I thought I knew was coming in his book was 100% wrong.
Piper Rayne has teased us through four books about who Knox would be paired with, and they definitely surprised me with this one. I loved the curveball they threw at us, but also how it all played out and still kept true to the little we knew about Knox. The heroine was sweet and definitely unexpected, and I enjoyed their story. While it was a much different book than I thought it would be I think it fits these characters perfectly.
My favorite part was how involved the rest of the crew is in this story, highlighting their bond and proving exactly why I love these characters so much. And the build-up for Jax & Frankie was amazing, I’m so excited for the next book!
This was a fun book to get lost in! I love a good second chance romance. While Knox never went out with Kamea, they had a moment years ago… and suddenly she was back in his life again. Knox liked helping people and when an opportunity to help Kamea arose, he was there for her. I enjoyed seeing them get to know each other and despite the negative going on, they focused on each other and the positive. I enjoyed the way their story evolved and the feels this book gave me! I couldn’t read it fast enough and I recommend!
To say I was shocked with this book is an understatement!! I totally did not expect the book to go in this direction. I was so excited with the twist this book took!!
As always I love Piper Rayne’s writing!! There is humor, drama, shake my head moments, and I am always sad to see the book end. They have a way of writing that sucks you in and I find myself enraptured in their story telling.
I don’t want to say to much about the book because it is a must read. I will say this Knox was everything I wanted him to be. He has made appearances in the other books of, “The Rooftop Crew” series and he lived up to what I had thought he would be.
I was not expecting the twist of this book, but Piper Rayne did it again! what a wonderful story!
The Do-Over by Piper Rayne was a page turner and I loved the twist this writing duo took with this second chance romance for Knox and the woman who has his heart. It was great seeing Knox find his HEA though it did not come easy as he had to come to terms with his past. I enjoyed the witty banter, romance and the friendship of the Rooftop Crew. Another great story in this series that I highly recommend.
“Good things really are worth waiting for”
And that sums up the story of Knox Wheland perfectly. This book has an unexpected twist and direction, so I won’t give the plot away by mentioning the female lead’s name. I will say that this is a second chance romance and Knox has a chance to make things right. In usual Piper Rayne style, The Do-Over is full of wonderful and supportive characters, many whom we’ve already met in The Rooftop Crew series and some new faces that help assist this couple in finding their way. There’s also lots of humor, especially with roommate, Jax. He’s a hoot. The new relationship between Knox and his lady love has many challenges and both need to find the courage to take the next step to finding the true love that’s within their grasp. A really wonderful story that I enjoyed very much.
I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review
“ , ’ , . ’ . ’ -.”
Let’s talk about “The Do-Over by Piper Rayne”. This is book five of “The Rooftop Crew” series.
This series keeps getting better and better with each book released. I honestly can’t tell you which one is my favorite couple so far, but I’m SO here for Knox and Kamea! will their children have names beginning with the letter K? Is it a new dynasty forming? Move over Kardashians, there is a new K power couple to rule the world!
I’ll start by saying there is NO love triangle in this story, because Knox is so over Leilani, finally. There’s so much one can handle of an unstable person. Long years ago he made a wrong choice between two friends, one that he deeply regrets now when suddenly Kamea is back to his life. Who knew that arresting his ex-girlfriend would bring the love of his life?
I love Kamea, so much! I could see a lot of me on her personality, except the vegetarian stuff. She is so strong, smart, focus and kind. She is an introvert and doesn’t have a lot of friends and the one she has, Leilani, is toxic AF. But I loved the most is how hard she fought for herself and to achieve her goals. I laugh a lot when she said she didn’t hold a grudge over Knox, because, yeah, she obviously does!
Knox and Kamea’s chemistry was off charts and once their past was dealt with, it was an explosion. And damn, I would give my kidney to be with that hot of a cop Knox (yeah, not really, but you get my drill)! Also they obviously developed a relation based on trust, friendship and respect, love the maturity they had.
I screamed out loud in the end with Kamea’s reaction over the twist, you go girl! Gosh, I have a girl crush on her! And that epilogue? I can’t wait for the last book in the series featuring Jax and Frankie, I’m so anxious and excited for them!
Knox and Leilani have been on and off for a few years. The last time she left nearly broke him. Will he survive another encounter or is he over her for good? Maybe Knox just needs a do-over of the night they met…
This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy. I liked this book and am glad Knox got his happy ending. I really cannot wait for the next book in the series. Piper Rayne saved the best for last!
Knox’s story was sooo worth the wait!
He’s always been the “mysterious” one to me. So to finally find out why had me happy dancing.
Plenty of drama, tension, wooing and steam. And of course, a few laughs.
Love this series so much, they are the type of people I’d love to have in my corner IRL.
So excited to read Jax and Frankie’s book.
The Do-Over (The Rooftop Crew Book 5) by Piper Rayne
Knox Whelan is a police officer of the Cliffton Heights Police Department who is a sucker for women who “needs saving.” He has wasted a few years for the “wrong girl” that his career became stagnant. He got passed over from a promotion because of his “savior complex” with fixing his ex-girlfriend. After breaking things off with her and coming out bearly surviving, he made sure that he focused on work and friends only. Unknowing to Knox, he would have his second chance when he arrested a past and bumped into another – all in one place.
Kamea works at the country club but is currently on hiatus due to the ongoing renovations until spring. She has a side business that provides good income and some savings on the side. Too bad that someone from her past had other plans and turned her world upside-down. The result was Kamea being:
1. broke,
2. kicked out of her home by said friend’s friends,
3. ghosted and bailed by the said friend after loaning the money, and worst of all,
4. saved by someone who she blames for all her insecurities.
It has been a while since I was offered a book with two women and a man who did not choose well. I was excited, and the book did not disappoint—the story from the first-person POV narrative – Knox and Kamea. I enjoyed the book’s honesty and grit in Knox, failing himself and having to face his mistakes and try his hardest in “fixing” his life – professionally and personally. But when a promotion is on the line, will Knox’s choice be convincing enough to Kamea to trust him with her heart after choosing the last time differently?
In Knox’s head (and heart), Kamea is the woman who got away. He had been riddled with so many “what-ifs” in the book. I got so invested in his “rules” and analytical ways that – I wanted to smack him and tell him, “YES, DO IT!” Everyone else did too! He chose the wrong girl in the past (boohoo) then make things right instead of lingering in the past! Although if Knox did that, it would have cut the book in half and made him an “underdevelop character,” –> which is not what this book is all about! Be patient is all I advise.
Kamea remembers Knox well enough that it had a lingering effect on how she sees herself. Knox’s actions finally shattered her confidence. She had a past that I emphasize. It is full of disappointments with men, especially from one man in particular. This defeatist self-worth has been with her for so long that it may be a reason that she hasn’t pushed her small business forward and still look at it as a side business.
Knox and Kamea’s honesty is evident because, halfway through the book, everything was said and laid out. This element is a big plus for the book! It is refreshing because knowing where both main characters stand is what makes up the story, hence the title. There were no flashbacks about what happened. There were some “thought processing,” but instead, each character confessed to the other right there and then. Knox and Kamea told each other the truths with so much conviction and confidence that it made the scenes a lot more compelling.
Getting back to the present, I liked how Kamea “opened her eyes” early to become braver and resilient in the face of her situation. She may owe her friend her gratitude in the past, but her friend’s attitude and treatment of Kamea was inexcusable. Granted, this friend had her reasons and experience, but she should not treat others this way! I was horrified by her friend’s nonchalant attitude while Kamea stood there, panicking and begging out of her situation.
She had her chin-up and focus on her business and maybe getting the guy – if she can convince him that they should have a “do-over.”
I loved her plan and glad that Knox did see the error of his ways – that Kamea is nothing like his ex-girlfriend. She is further and a lot better for him than he could have hoped!
Thank goodness for nosy neighbors/friends! I love how they taunted (with love) and supported (feverishly) Knox while taking in Kamea as part of them. Knox’s friends all lobbied and shook some senses to both characters. I give them all credit for making the story work! They are responsible for Knox “breaking his rules” and Kamea for taking charge to change things that ended with an explosive (!) HEA for both of them.
The Do-Over is all about choices, consequences, growing-up, healing, second chances, and redemption. There is a lot of growing up for all the characters, even the “other woman.” Note that there is no cheating involved and is more for Knox being “pressured” by his friends at that time, which was typical. It is well-written and how the author ended the story has thoughtful. I am now curious to start on the Roof Top Crew series based on this book. I hope you do, too, after you check The Do-Over out!
Check out the Roof Top Crew series here.
I just love this series!! I love how close knit all of these guys are and how they look out for one another. The Do-Over was the fifth book in Piper and Rayne’s Rooftop Crew series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading them all in order to get the best experience! It was full of laughs, sweet and tender moments, and of course lots of sizzle!
Years ago Knox had a choice and he made a decision based on what he thought he needed at the time. It would take years to figure out just how wrong he was. When a second chance came along, would he take it? Would he be able to finally right the wrong from so many years ago?
What a second chance romance! Knox was one of the sweetest and most caring of the crew! I loved getting to see what made him who he was! The connection they shared was amazing!! Sometimes you just have to take the long way to get where you need to be!
Wow, wow, wow, I didn’t see that coming and not at all what I expected but exactly the way it needed to be! I have been waiting for Knox’s story and his definitely wasn’t without complications and jaw-dropping moments but so worth the wait!
If you’ve read any of Piper Rayne’s books you know every once in awhile they love to throw a wrench in the story your expecting and this is one of those stories. Prepare to be blown away because this story will do just that but in the best way possible.
I loved this story and do excited for the next book in this series!
I knew I would love Knox’s story from start but this story was not what I was expecting at all.
If you’ve been reading from the beginning you know Knox and Leilani have a history and of course, now he has arrested the woman he once loved. Knox is a big softie, he is protective of himself and like to stick to the rules. Until a blast from his past comes back and pushes him.
I loved every single moment of this story. It is a fantastic second chance romance full of laughs and of course the family vibe from the rest of the Rooftop Crew. The chemistry between Knox and his second chance, yeah I am not naming her because I want people to be surprised like I was when reading, is amazing and I loved their relationship from the start. She also easily fit in with the rest of the crew and instantly bonded with all the other women.
Knox’s story is one of my favorites of the series and I completely love him, however, Jax is next and things are going to get wild. The Do-Over is a MUST READ second chance romance that is full of laughs and plenty of hilarious moments between friends.
Another highly anticipated story from the series, this one brings us Knox and the two women in his life. One is a carefree commitment phobe and the other one is the one that he let get away. The question is, now that they’re both back in his orbit, which one will he choose?
I have followed the Rooftop Crew since the beginning and I couldn’t wait to read about the guys, especially the stickler for the rules we finally meet in depth in this book. Since early on we have seen glimpses of his on and off relationship with Leilani and the end of Seth and Evan’s book was more than enough to set all kinds of wheels in motion in my brain, but this story was NOT what I expected.
The one thing that didn’t disappoint is that Knox is as sweet, clueless and big hearted as they come and I honestly think everyone is going to fall in love with him and the woman that will finally win his heart. As he says “your Price Charming was a little late to the party, but he’s on his way now”.
Once again, the ladies have taken me on a beautiful romantic escapade with a perfect couple, their friends and family and the ever present shenanigans that make this Crew one of my heart’s favorites to date. Can’t wait for the next one!
