Miss Emma Bavidge can barely make her way through society without someone whispering about her. Her father’s disgrace has ruined her reputation and left her struggling in society. Her one hope is Lady Emily Smithton, who leads ‘The Spinsters Guild’ and has promised to help. When questioned, however, Emma cannot pretend that she is immune to the charms of one gentleman in particular – Viscount … particular – Viscount Morton.
Viscount Nathaniel Morton cannot help but feel sorry for Miss Bavidge. Knowing her father as well as he does, he is well aware that her reputation bears no stain other than that of her father’s disgrace. He wishes to help her in some way, wanting to encourage her back into society’s good graces, but does not quite know how to go about it.
One thing is for certain – he cannot allow her to know the truth about the part he played in bringing about her father’s fall from grace, not even if he begins to find his heart yearning for no one but her!
Can Emma and Nathaniel find love and happiness despite the secrets between them?
This book is the second book of a series called The Spinsters Guild, a group of unusual ladies who are almost “on the shelf”. Can Lady Emily help them find their perfect match?

Not her disgrace, but still her problem.
In the nineteenth century, the shame of one family member was suffered by every family member. This social norm was especially difficult for the women of a family disgraced by a father, brother or son.
Thus begins Miss Emma Bavidge’s journey back into society, which means overcoming her father’s disgrace. When Nathaniel, Lord Morton, makes efforts to ease her struggle with the ton, Emma is reluctant to believe his sincerity. Although Nathaniel is sincere, but he also has a secret that could end his fragile relationship with Emma.
The Disgraced Bride by Rose Pearson is an interesting and entertaining read. It both profiles the struggles women faced in English society, but also the moral issues of the Regency era. Yet it still manages to end on a happy note. I really like both Emma and Nathaniel. She is a strong heroine, and he is the type of gentleman that could love Emma forever. They each have so much to offer the other, but circumstances are poised to ruin their fragile alliance. Thankfully, they manage to work through their issues.
This sweet and clean romance can be read as a stand-alone book. That said, because this book is the second one in The Spinster’s Guild series, I recommend reading the first book in the series, A New Beginning, before reading The Disgraced Bride.

Lady Emily Smithton had been sold into an unpleasant marriage but returned as a strong, wealthy, and independent young widow who has vowed to never put herself under a man’s control again. She is now approached by other women who ask for her help in finding matches so that they are not spinsters, left on the shelf. This was the start of the Spinsters Guild, to give hope to women who would otherwise live lonely, solitary lives through no fault of their own!
Miss Emma Bavidge was eavesdropping as her father, Viscount Hawkridge, and her aunt discussed finding her a husband. She wasn’t beautiful and did not have a large dowry, so enticing a gentleman would be difficult indeed. But it wasn’t fair that she would be suffering the consequences of her father’s mistake while she had always behaved properly; she would more than likely become a spinster and live off the charity of relatives. It would be difficult for Lady Mitchell to appear in London society also because of her brother, but she finally relented and agreed to help Emma. But Emma soon learned that the ton is a cruel place and even her Aunt pulled away from her to avoid the cruel whispers.
Emma has one last chance to find help for her situation. She needs to contact Lady Emily Smithton who leads ‘The Spinsters Guild’ and is promised help. When questioned, Emma mentions one gentleman’s name – Viscount Morton. Could he be the one for her?
Viscount Nathaniel Morton feels sorry for Miss Bavidge, as he knows her father and the details of what occurred. He knows her own behavior has been above reproach. He wants to help get her back into society’s good graces, but has no idea where to begin. As he does his best to help, he begins to fall for her. But someone else is determined to keep them apart. His own secret involvement in the start of the gossip about her father keeps him from opening up to her. Nevertheless, will he fall in love with Emma and court her? Or will he walk away?
I really enjoyed this book. (As an aside, it tears me up how the women are at the mercy of society and men, moved around like chess pieces at times, and tossed away in their 20’s while the old men can take a wife no matter how old they are! So glad to not have to live through that!) Will Emma get the HEA she deserves? Grab your copy and see how the story plays out. You’ll enjoy the well-described characters and the intriguing story line.
I am loving this new series already! The secrets and twists and turns that keep you reading till you find out what is going to be next and then you keep reading yet more! Love, is in the air and more to come in this series, wow! I love reading Rose Pearson’s books, always enjoy my time reading but so hard to put down! I recommend any of Rose Pearson’s books and especially this new series.

TITLE: Disgraced by her father’s behavior, Emma steps out into society.
This story had it’s beginning in the first book, when Lady Smithton met Miss Bavidge and Miss Crosby and agrees to help them find husbands. We now read the story from the point of view of Miss Emma Bavidge, who missed ‘coming out’ last year due to the scandal her father (Viscount Hawkridge) caused AND his lack of funds due to gambling losses. First, we learn the back story of how she and Miss Crosby came to the point of approaching Lady Smithton; then the story continues with aid from time to time by Lady Smithton.
Viscount Nathaniel Morton, a young man who (unbeknownst to Emma) prevented Emma’s father from a terrible deed. He is in search of a bride, and is repulsed by young women who gossip. Yet, he himself has contributed to the gossip about Miss Emma in that he had a role in stopping her father from finishing a cruel act upon another. He assuages his guilt by endeavoring to help Emma feel less left out, by dancing with her.
Will the past acts of Emma’s father sends ripples into the present and threaten the delicate relationship between Emma and Nathaniel onto the rocks and destroy it?
CRITIQUE: A sweet story about the delicate nature of a female’s reputation in the Regency era—family scandal can mar, even destroy, the prospects of a happy marriage for a young woman, as it has in Emma’s case. How to rise above such a situation is the lesson Emma learns in this story. Knowing who to trust is a lesson that nearly undoes all the good she has accomplished when she makes a mistake learning this second lesson. A clean novel, with sweet characters, making it appropriate for all ages.

Another great book by Rose Pearson. I’m really enjoying this series and loved Lord Morton and Emma’s story. The story held my attention from the beginning. I look forward to more books in the series.
It was good to read more about some of the characters from the 1st book. Lady Smithton helping Emma (mainly) and Sarah in re-entering society. I just love how Lady Smithton doesn’t take crap from anyone, her head held high and respected! Not to mention her connection with Lord Havisham, such a gentleman. I cheered out loud toward the end of the story when he and Lord Rochester were by the tree! (don’t want to give anything away).
I was relieved and happy with Lord Morton’s decision at the ball, better late than never.
And I still don’t care for Emma’s aunt at all!

Emma’s father was a selfish manipulator, who ruined her with his actions. She is mocked by the gentlemen of the ton and doesn’t know who to trust. Lord Morton feels guilty over his part in her father’s and as a result Emma’s downfall and at first spends time with her to make amends and protect her from his unscrupulous former friend. But when she finds out the truth, will she still want to be with him? I liked Emma’s fellow Spinsters Guild friends and look forward to their stories.
The sins of the father are visited on the daughter. BUT there’s those who are willing to help Emma—if she’s willing to help herself. And she does.
I enjoyed The Disgraced Bride so much that my next book to read will be A New Beginning, the first book in Rose’s The Spinsters Guild series. The Disgraced Bride is great as a standalone; it’s just that now I want to see the story from the beginning!
Emma, the heroine of The Disgraced Bride, is so likeable, you know you’d want her as a friend! Our hero, Viscount Nathanial Morton, is charming, engaging, and sexy. You just know they belong together (unless you feel that you would want him for yourself). I think that part of what makes our hero so likeable is that his major flaw is that he trusted a friend too much.
Good romantic tension while waiting for the inevitable to happen.
Emma and Nathaniel have a very satisfying HEA, just exactly what I, a devoted reader of Historical Romance novels, need!

Just marvelous. Intense read you will love.
A book of good length and very well written.
My free opinion. Thanks.
Sadly I was looking for more detail in the story. It was a very quick read. While it was a good story, I was hoping for more.

I have just finished The Disgraced Bride, which is the second book in The Spinsters Guild series by Rose Pearson, a delightful, family-friendly four-hour read. Now I need to hunt down book 1…

Will she be a long term member of The Spinsters Guild?
Okay, I am going to say it Lord Morton is kind of a milk toast character but then Emma is kind of surrounded by selfish and clueless jerks. Emma is not having an easy time traversing society and there are some people who will make it even harder. Emma does come up with a plan and you will enjoy reading about it. I liked the book the story enjoyable and well-written. I loved the action at the end. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

A well written enjoyable read. The pace was good & the characters had depth. I wished Emma had had a different Christian name as at the beginning I kept confusing Emma & Emily. I would have also liked an epilogue & to have learned what happened to the villain unless we find out in subsequent books! I look forward to the next books in the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
What does a young woman do when her father is not an honest man. And she is painted with the same brush? BUT she wants to get married? WHERE does she turn? Who can help her? WONDERFUL BOOK.
This is an interesting book, with some intrigue and mostly likeable character’s. Miss Emma Bavidge is having her first season even if she is older then most. She is having a hard time due to her father, Viscount Hawkridge has been ruined and cased out by society. Last year he was caught trying to blackmail Lord Knighton. Viscount Nathaniel Morton, overheard the plot and stopped it in time. Over come with what he
had heard he tells his friend Lord Hawkridge’s expecting him to keep his secret. He does not and tell all the ton what happened. Viscount Morton knew Viscvount Hawkridge had a daughter and that the scandal would hurt her too. Viscount Morton, watches Miss Bavidge to see if she is going to be ok, which she is not.
Mostly she is invited to parties and asked to dance so the parties can say they were seen with her.
Both Miss Bavidge and her friend Miss Sarah Crosby seek help from Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham both from Book One, “The New Beginning”
Both Viscount Morton and Miss Bavidge have and attraction to each other early on. As they get to know each other the romance thickens.
Lord Hawkridge’s has not forgiven Viscount Morton for ending their friendship and is out to make sure he does anything he can to stop his ex-friend from any happiness. He is a nasty piece of work.
This book is a easy read, with lots going on, a happy ending somewhat.
But just like the first book, there is no real end, you are left with a lot of questions which one hopes will be in book 3 now. Do not read this book before the first one. Which is why authors write cliff hangers.

This is the second book in the Spinsters Guild. You certainly don’t need to read the first one but, it does help with the characters of the stories. Emma Bavidge is coming back into society. Unfortunately, due to her father’s downfall, she is whispered about and she finds it extremely hard to think about finding a match. She enlists the help of Lady Emily. Viscount Nathaniel Morton has a secret and one he doesn’t want to spill. He’s partially the reason of her father’s downfall but yet he intends to watch over her as he knows her name will be dragged through the gossip mill. The gentleman who spread the rumors about Emma’s father and broke Nathaniel’s confidence is now out to ruin him and spill the beans to Emma by trying to get close to her. This becomes a tangled web of deceit, mystery, and hopefully the promise of a long future. Can Emma forgive Nathaniel for outing her father? Can Nathaniel keep it a secret? The characters of this book are well written and I loved the story line on this one. I’d highly recommend.

I love The Spinster’s Guild! This was a fun story. It got off to a little bit of a slow start, but gains momentum and really takes off to reveal a wonderful ending. The characters are great, there’s lots of action and the story is very sweetly romantic. I’m so glad it turned out so nicely for Emma and Lord Morton. I loved the book, and can’t wait to read what’s next for the ladies of The Spinster’s Guild!
Because of her father’s revealed blackmail scheme, Emma is despised by polite society. She does not think she will ever marry. She meets and falls for Lord Morton; however, he is hiding a secret that can ruin their lives. Love this author’s stories!
The Disgraced Bride (The Spinsters Guild, #2)

She finds her self falling in love with Lord Morton, but will the fact that he has been the one to have helped Bring to light the scandal that has sent her father away be what truly separates the young couple before the can declare their true feelings?
Great story, I enjoyed reading this book.
