Miss Emma Bavidge can barely make her way through society without someone whispering about her. Her father’s disgrace has ruined her reputation and left her struggling in society. Her one hope is Lady Emily Smithton, who leads ‘The Spinsters Guild’ and has promised to help. When questioned, however, Emma cannot pretend that she is immune to the charms of one gentleman in particular – Viscount … particular – Viscount Morton.
Viscount Nathaniel Morton cannot help but feel sorry for Miss Bavidge. Knowing her father as well as he does, he is well aware that her reputation bears no stain other than that of her father’s disgrace. He wishes to help her in some way, wanting to encourage her back into society’s good graces, but does not quite know how to go about it.
One thing is for certain – he cannot allow her to know the truth about the part he played in bringing about her father’s fall from grace, not even if he begins to find his heart yearning for no one but her!
Can Emma and Nathaniel find love and happiness despite the secrets between them?
This book is the second book of a series called The Spinsters Guild, a group of unusual ladies who are almost “on the shelf”. Can Lady Emily help them find their perfect match?

I’ve mentioned many times, I dislike with a passion where only 1/2 truths are finally told, but rest is held back. The reason was lame. The story more of a cookie cutter when you have omission. No excitement because you knew exactly where the story was going.
This surprised me, because I’ve been enjoying this author’s writings lately. But, these character’s are not strong and I felt no connection. The villain was what you expected. The person the h turns too, is not above reproach and you would think this would ruin her reputation. Granted it is all rumor but the TON, doesn’t need facts.
This is a clean story, with barely sweet kisses. Plus the story ends at 90% mark and rest is blurb for next story. I wish the author would have used the last 10% in this story because it ends abruptly.
No cheating, HEA, no romance and clean. Plus title misleading, our h is not a bride. (ljb)
What a great book! The characters come to life and draw you in! I give this book a 4 star.
I received this complimentary copy of the book for a honest review.
This story takes us through how Emma and Miss Crosby sought out the help of Miss Smithson for help and guidance to navigate through society! This begins the spinsters guild! This is Emma’s story!
There is scandal, hope and internal strength that had Emma learning to hold her head high as she realizes her fathers sons are not her own!
Lord Morton seeks her out to assuage his guilt in the part he took in her fathers scandal. He slowly comes to admire her and quickly falls in love with her.
This book and Emma were perfect for the second book in the new series! I liked the flow of the book, it wasn’t rushed and everything unfolded as it should. I really enjoyed this new series! Rise Pearson is the Queen of Regency Romance! I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series!

The Disgraced Bride by Rose Pearson, book 2 in her Spinsters Guild series, is a delightful sweet Regency romance. It is the perfect book for a cozy interlude on a rainy day. A cup of tea and a blanket on the couch in front of a nice fire in the fireplace completes the picture of how this book made me feel. It is an easy read, entertaining, with a happily ever after that to me are the makings of a magical escape to a different place and time.
I especially like how Rose takes a not so nice fact about the Regency time period and weaves a tale where the “weaker sex” comes out on top. The men in the story become better people because of the women’s strength of character. And the “beau monde” are shamed for being small-minded as well as petty. Oh if only that was true, how might the struggle for women’s rights changed sooner?!
Well worth your time to cozy up to this wonderful novel. Don’t forget the tea and scones!
I really don’t know what to say about this book. It was ok. I had high hopes for this series as everyone loves to route for the under dog. But this wasn’t one of those books. It was ok and had a happy ending. So I gave it another star for that.
the conversation seemed a little stiff between characters. But it might be just time it is set in.
Liked this book right from the start. As a reader you will feel emotions such as anger and sympathy, which is what I want a book to do for me.
It was a bit slow and often repetitive, but a different approach to Regency romances.
Basic, nothing of interest. Instead of repeating the same thing for the reader how about just mentioning it in one sentence. You can pick up on character reactions but, I’m not two I’ll remember the secret you don’t have to tell me again. Instead develop actual characters that have interests. Lots of events were happening at the time, science and historical discoveries, philosophy and art all of this is part of getting to know another person. So have your characters have actual conversations rather than tell me that he found her astute and cheerful. The characters are boring sketches and I’ll be honest I skipped most of the repeat material.
A sweet romantic read about two people who make mistakes and grow from the experience.
A sweet love story about two people who overcome their wrong assumptions to claim their happiness.
A decent read
An average type story.
The writing style fits the time period of the story well. The story clearly shows the dual nature and vindictiveness of the London ton. The themes of betrayal and “doing what is right” form the core of this story.
Boring. I just didn’t care for it. It maybe be someone else’s cup of tea, but they better not be sleepy when they read it.
2.5 Stars. Meh. Okay, but rather tepid storyline AND characters,
The first of the spinsters is featured in this book with some appearances by Miss Crosby also. This book at the beginning has quite a few scenes from the first book which make this book truly standalone, though I still recommend reading them all in order. There are wonderful characters and unique situations. I started with the fifth book of the series and am returning to read them all in order and then to reread the fifth since I’ll have so much more backstory!
Lady Emily Smithton leads ‘The Spinsters Guild’.
This Guild is to help single girls who need help
to find suitable match.
Miss Emma Bavidge turns to Lady Smithton for
help. It seems her father has been disgraced.
This has ruined her reputation within the ton so
she finds herself in a vulnerable situation within
society. Emma reveals that she is drawn to
Viscount Nathaniel Morton.
Little does Emma know that Viscount Nathaniel
Morton is the source of the rumors regarding
her father. He confided in his best friend who
broke their pact and the rumors spread like
wildfire now his ex-best friend is blackmailing
him to keep Nathaniel from his growing feelings
toward Emma.
What is Nathaniel to do when Emma discovers
the source of the family’s fall in society? Will she
forgive him? Will they end up together?
The book is easy to read with writing that flows
smoothly. The writing allows the reader to get
a glimpse of the characters and their action as
if the reader was right in the middle of the story’s
timeline.
The main characters were well defined, relatable
and realistic for that time period. The supporting
characters were well written and interesting.
This book is book # 2 in the The Spinsters Guild
series. It can be read as a stand alone with no
problems.
An enjoyable, recommended read.
I volunteered to read The Disgraced Bride.

Sweet Regency Romance!
Viscount Nathaniel Morton seeks to help Miss Emma Bavidge overcome gossip caused by her father’s disgrace but lost his heart instead. Can she trust his intentions? An engaging tale of trust, secrets, forgiveness and romance. I love the heartwarming characters in this series. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
