Hillary can’t wait for her book club’s weekend getaway at a member’s ranch but she doesn’t expect to come upon murder. She’s expecting to discuss Agatha Christie not being asked by Police Chief Preston Davis to help investigate. While she is skeptical about his request, she dives head first into the investigation by questioning the other book club members. While it seems all of the members had something against the deceased, Hillary’s unique way of looking at the scene and dissecting answers and conversations, helps lead Chief Davis to the suspect.
While I love Hillary and the way she gets involved with murder investigations, I did miss having the insight of her daughter, Annabelle, and employee, Rose. Rose knows everything and everyone so it would have been very interesting if she had been a part of it all. Don’t get me wrong, though. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait to find out what Hillary digs into next.

I just didn’t want it to end. I just fell in love with these characters and getting to go along on their journey. I can’t wait to read more wonderful stories from this author.

The Diamond Hunt took on a different feel with this book. The storyline focus on Hillary solving this mystery with very little interaction from the other characters that we have grown to love. The plot of the story was interesting, but I felt as if it was missing something to further pull me in. Hillary and Preston seem to have turned a new leaf with their relationship and I totally can’t wait to see where it will go.

“The Diamond Hunt” earns 5/5 Book Club Murders…Entertaining Fun!
Hillary Sheridan is once again confronted with murder. She is enjoying her participation with the local book club, and although she has not joined them before on their quarterly excursions, she thought a relaxing weekend discussing this month’s Agatha Christie book would be fun. The destination is a horse farm and Airbnb owned by Janet Hines, one of the book club members. However on her arrival, she sees Police Chief Preston Davis and cringes. The last time they interacted on a murder case, she was spot on and he was arrogant and dismissive. So, “What is he doing here?” Murder, what else? Janet was found in the barn by her sister-in-law…dead. It seems Preston wants Hillary to leave immediately, not get involved, not get hurt. However, is Preston asking for Hillary’s input? That’s a first.
Wendy Meadows has penned another entertaining novella for her Rosemary Harbor series easily finished in one sitting. Using a traditional cozy formula with a third-person narrative, although not my favorite perspective, she did well keeping me engaged with a clever mystery, well-paced with descriptions and dialogue that best illustrates the setting, tone, and personalities. Cozies, like those penned by Wendy Meadows, offer an engaging mystery, but it’s the characters that are key to the popularity of a series. Hillary is an admirable woman gaining personal strength to meet the challenges of being a single woman after the death of her husband of thirty-three years. She has a positive relationship with Annabella, her twenty-something daughter, and although she’s past the parenting stage, Hillary struggles to let go and support her daughter’s independence. The dynamic between Hillary and Preston seemed an opportunity for an emotional connection, but it is more antagonistic. Hillary has excellent deductive reasoning skills and an intuitive nature, but Preston is “by the book.” Is he coming around to the idea that she’s more professionally valuable? Delightful fun!
Like a good whodunnit! Entertaining and fun read with great characters and good story flow! Quick read in one sitting!

“Gosh, what a journey!” as Hillary said about her Agatha Christie book. And this one by Wendy Meadows is a great journey, too! Hillary is finally actually asked by Preston to help with a murder investigation. He’s finally (yes, using that word again) giving her credit for her ability to get people to open up and talk to her. Thankfully, even though Preston was a jerk previously when she got involved, she agreed and they seem to be heading in the right direction again to be friends.
This book is a quick and easy read. The characters are wonderful and fun. Spot, the extremely smart parrot, is hilarious and very accurate with his statements. I’d only want a bird if it were like Spot! I suggest reading this, as well as the rest of the series.

Hillary’s peaceful book club weekend turns to murder before she even steps into the place and after deciding to stay to support the other ladies it’s time for a showdown with Preston to show she has what it takes to help solve murders and he needs her help. There are plenty of suspects with this one and I loved how my mind kept switching between who I thought did it and the secrets that come out during it all show no one as they seem. I can not wait to see how things go for Hillary and Preston when the next murder occurs!!

Hillary has only lived in Rosemary Harbor a little over a year. She has joined several clubs but the book club is the only one she has stayed with. Having missed the past retreats of the club, she has decided to attend this weekend retreat at a local horse farm/AirBnB owned by book club member, Janet Hines. However, after her daughter, Annabelle, drops her off, she meets Police Chief Preston Davis. He asks her if she really wants to stay. Janet Hines has been murdered and Hillary is not a suspect. But if she decides to stay, he would like her to assist him in finding the killer. It is his way of apologizing for the last murder he would not let her help with. Hillary also has a way about her that makes people open up to her. It seems all of the members of the club have secrets and also had problems with Janet, especially her sister-in-law, Megan Hines.
While talking to Kelsey Jones, a local mortgage officer, she discovers (along with Megan) that Janet had a large diamond that was a family heirloom that she could use to pay off the mortgage if she needed to do so. Hillary suggests that the three of them search the house for the diamond. Soon, all of the club members and Chief Davis are searching for the diamond.
This story has lots of suspects and twists and turns. A must read for cozy mystery lovers.
I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
In this one, Hillary actually steps out of her comfort zone n both the social and gossip areas. She is going to spend the weekend at the farm of a woman who is in the book club she joined. All of the ladies will be there to discuss the current book they are reading. Hillary gets there late on Friday afternoon and finds Preston already there and telling her she has to leave. She takes offense to this and has an argument with him. During the argument she finds out that the owner of the farm has been murdered and Preston wants her to stick around as the ladies all seem to open up to her. She hates gossip but agrees to it for the sake of justice. When they discover the motive was a huge diamond ring, everyone joins in the hunt. It is finally found and the killer is arrested.

Another short cozy mystery by Wendy. She adds humor to go along with a murder. It is a great read. It is part of a series that is great to read also.

Who knew joining a book club would lead to murder? But that is what happens when Hillary joins the local book club. Living in a small town, everyone knows everyone else’s business almost before they do! This is no exception. Can Hillary and Preston become united and find the killer? You will need to read this enjoyable cozy mystery to find out. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from Booksprout.
Hillary was the owner of the gift basket shop called Something Special. Her daughter Annabelle works with her as does Rose, who Hillary rents the store from. They live and work in the quaint coastal town of Rosemary Harbor. Like most people, Hillary has a hobby, an obsession really, mysteries whether in books or in real life. Hillary goes on a retreat to be with her book club at Happy Trails but before she can even get to register, the police chief is there and tells her there has been a suspicious death, he urges her to leave but her love of mysteries just won’t let her.
This the fourth book in the cozy mystery series and is set is a different place with a few different characters for Hillary to bounce her ideas off. This a great addition to the series as it allows Hillary to grow in her skills. The characters are amazing, interesting and quirky. The narrative is critical to getting to know the setting and further enhancing the characters. I enjoyed the interplay between the characters, the humour, the mystery, the twists, turns and surprises, all keeping the reader interested until the end. It is a well done cozy mystery and worth the read.

Hannah is a relatively new transplant to a small town and is glad to be accepted into the inner circle of a book club. They arranged for a weekend getaway to discuss books and to gossip. Sadly, when Hannah arrives at the destination she finds out that the hostess for the getaway had died under suspicious circumstances. Together with the local Chief of Police she tries to find out who killed her and why.
A nice cozy mystery with a good story line and some distractions on the side to give some misleading clues. The book is enjoyable and entertaining.

Poor Chief Preston. He put his foot in it before Hilary even walked in the door. It really is true in a small town setting that you sometimes are really coincidentally at the scene. Harsh words are not a way to make amends, though the man does appear to be trying. Thinking too long before saying important things about respect and caring really does seem to be a fault of his.
Hilary has an awful gift for landing in the middle of messes- and having everyone eager to share with hear. Being the beneficiary of too much over-sharing could give a gal nightmares.
Motives for friends and family are clearly tangled and lethal.
Meanwhile, daughter Annabelle seems to have an ongoing issue: folks in service industries who work for tips often have a bit of harmless flirting to improve their tips. A smart woman learns the difference between harmless flattery and meet you out back after shift talk. Mommy needs to cut the cord and let daughter dearest find her own way. Time for some mutual letting go- so hard when worrying about people you love, yet so necessary- unless you want to become a suspect yourself!

This is addicting series that blends small town mystery and mayhem with Christie-like puzzles and family challenges.
Always wanting the next book to read more!
Hillary again gets involved in a murder investigation, but this time Chief of Police Preston asks for her help. Most of the story takes place in a farmhouse where a group of bookclub ladies go to spend a weekend to discuss a book. A real life situation of the death of their hostess mirrors the mystery in the book they’d planned to discuss. Good story, good characters. Recommended.

The Diamond Hunt: Rosemary Harbor Mystery series by Wendy Meadows is an enjoyable afternoon read. It has a great blending of murder and suspense with a touch humor.
Hillary has only been in Rosemary Harbor a little over a year and she’s made a few friends through her business and the local book club. It’s time for the annual book club retreat and she’s decided to go. Arriving late, she’s missed the afternoon get-togethers, but has arrived in time to discover one of the book club members has been murdered.
After being cleared as a suspect Hillary, decides to stay and help both her friends and the Chief of Police. After all, she does have a way of getting people to talk to her and by listening closely she may discover a clue. There are many twists, turns and surprises that keep you guessing to the end – kind of like those Agatha Christie novels Hillary so enjoys.
I didn’t think this story had as much depth as other stories by Ms. Meadows, so only four stars. If you like easy to read, light mystery cozies, this one is for you.

A very well written and enjoyable book. Love the plot concept of a book club getaway. Sounds so relaxing. It was a wonderful getaway until the murder spoiled it all. So many suspects, who knew there were numerous secrets between all the friends. Glad Preston is friendly with Hillary again. Looking forward to the next book in the series to see where the story goes next.
