“Steamy and suspenseful, with a couple to root for and an evil villain to hate, The Devil’s Spare Change is the kind of romantic suspense I love to read!”—NYT Bestselling Author Christy ReeceFBI agent Sean Malone’s homecoming is interrupted by two things—a pleasant surprise from his youth and a deranged serial killer. The little tomboy who’d followed him and his brothers around is now grown up and … around is now grown up and drop-dead gorgeous, and he finds himself thinking about her in ways he’d never done before.
Whisper, North Carolina, where she’d spent her childhood summers, is the perfect place for Grace Whitman to open her new business—especially when she finds her adolescent crush has returned as well.
As the two get to know each other all over again, local law enforcement asks Sean to help find the man who has tortured and killed three women. Will the killer follow his pattern and move on, or has Dare County become his permanent hunting ground?

Another winner in the Malone Brothers’ series! Can’t wait for Brian’s book–when it’s ready!
I absolutely loved this book. Sean and Gracie have known each other for a long time but lost touch. When he sees her now, he sees what a beautiful woman she has become and Gracie sees Sean though “grown up” eyes. Sean is an FBI agent who is suppose to be on vacation but he becomes involved in a case trying to find a serial killer before he strikes again. Of course, that puts kinks into him trying to romance Gracie. LOL. I loved the way the story flowed. It was very easy to get completely lost in, which I did. I HIGHLY recommend this book to readers and while it’s a stand alone story, the first book in this series ( KC and Moriah) is just as good. Samantha is a very talented writer and knows how to grab her readers attention and keep it. I’ll be waiting for the next book!! Good job Samantha!
THE DEVIL’S SPARE CHANGE is the second book in the Malone Brothers series. Though each book will stand alone, I highly recommend these yummalicious, sexy brothers and the women who love them, so why not read them all and in the order of release.
When it comes to a Samantha Cole story, I know I’m going to be glued to my device. I did not want to leave the car! Between the romance and the suspense, I was captivated. My heart belongs to every book hero penned by this author.
Narration: Donovan Kane is a superb narrator with a rich voice. I only noticed one mispronunciation (hearth), but his enunciation, pitch, tone, and dramatic flair more than make up for a single word.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy via Audiobooks Unleashed, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

While on vacation we get pulled into a search for a serial killer. This book raises your heart rate while trying to figure out who it is and you get a little romance on the side. I enjoyed this book and it’s narration.
Coming back to Whisper, NC to be closer to his family, Sean Malone thinks he will have the next month to relax before starting his new job with the FBI. At the same time the tomboy who used to follow the Malone Brothers growing up has also returned, but now she is all grown up and has caught Sean’s eye. What should be a time of reconnecting and romance turns into a hunt for a serial killer. With so much effort to find the killer, will Sean focus on work? Or will he be able to balance it with the beginnings of a new love in his life? With great characters and a storyline that had me locked in from the opening pages this book should not be missed. I cannot wait for more in this series.
4 Spare Change Stars. This is the second book in the Malone Brothers series by Ms Cole. Take the Money and Run was good, nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary. Ms Cole definitely upped her game with The Devil’s Spare Change. This is a true romantic suspense thriller.
Sean Malone has moved back home and taken a position with the Greenville, NC FBI office. Before he begins his new position, he has four glorious weeks of vacation. Four weeks that he intends to enjoy to the fullest. After running into a childhood friend, Grace Whitman, it looks like his vacation is indeed getting off to a great start. It all falls apart when he gets a call from the local sheriff just a couple days into that vacation. There’s been a murder and the sheriff needs some help….
The killer isn’t a mystery to the reader, he’s the first person you’re introduced to. But all you know is his name, you don’t really know who he is until the story unfolds and the victims pile up. The Devil’s Spare Change is a fast-paced thriller that will have you turning pages as quickly as you can.
This is the second book in the Malone Brothers Series and I’m loving these brothers! This book is about Sean, who is an FBI Agent. He needs a vacation and goes to the beach house his uncle raised them in after his parents died. Gracie Whitman has just returned to town to open a Physical Therapy business. Sean and Gracie grew up together but she looks nothing like the teen he remembers. Meanwhile in town…there is a serial killer doing really bad things to women. The local leos ask for Sean’s help and Gracie attracts the attention of the killer. Can Sean save her? You’ll have to read this book!
Uhh, what a thrilling/suspensful story that fits right into the Malone world. A little different than the Trident series, it still is very enjoyable.
Sean Malone has finally winged his way back home after a few years working in the Miami FI office. With his brothers starting to settle down & his uncle not getting younger – he wants to be closer to his small family. With his new house not quite ready to be inhabited yet, he’s making use of his downtime, before starting his new job, at his uncle’s beach house.
But when he realises that the blonde bombshell he has been lusting over is none other than Gracie, the little tomboy who used to chase after him and his brothers, well he now feels a bit of a perv. She is essentially one of the family really – her aunt and his uncle have been friends since forever! But Sean may not have as much free time on his hands as he thought – a killer is hunting in Whisper and he may just make Gracie his next victim!
Sean’s brother Brian and his partner Rafe request FBI assistance and Sean is activated back on duty. But the killer is not happy that his gameplan is being interrupted and he may just have to deal with Sean before he can get his hands on Gracie.
Although a standalone I’d suggest reading the series in order, just to help keep everything (including Dan’s matchmaking!) in order. A great tense storyline, passion off the charts and suitably damaged killer!
Another amazing book from Samantha, I don’t think i can say this enough .. she always surprise me with each book and what i love about it, is that even if each book connects to the others, the stories are always unique and have amazing twist and turns that you never guess who is the bad guy in her books …
what can i say about Sean Malone? the youngest Malone found love finally with non other than the beautiful Grace an old childhood friend – love -crush – family friend… (nice of …. spoiler ) the love between Sean and Grace starts from a very young age but it didn’t develop until they see each other again after so many years.. the attraction is scorching and they can’t deny it.. the chemistry between Grace and Sean is amazing .. i love the story of them because even if we have a few other elements like Seans FBI job and a bad guy who is doing some serious damage around town and in another US cities .. the romance still has an amazing build up and chemistry
I love Sean, his gentle side, that he can be a true gentleman but at the same time rough when he needs to be 😉 hahah ok i’m talking about his FBI job over here of coarse .. and Grace she is strong, intelligent woman who is opening her own new business of physical therapy in Whisper..
what i like about the book is how the story starts to connect from the love of his life to his career and the bad guy .. so you have a really good story with a lot of great elements and characters that support the main characters Sean and Grace.. i love that i saw uncle Dan and Bonnies and KC and Moria and a lot of old characters that are really becoming so dear..
great story, great book, great characters and great writer!!!!
all i can say is: I can’t wait for Brians book, i think is going to be amazing!!! and this series is getting better and better!!!
Another great story by Samantha Cole. This is Book 2 of the Malone Brothers & can be read as a stand alone. You miss out on some of the history of you don’t read Take the Money & Run but you aren’t lost.
Samantha creates such terrific main characters & puts them in life or death situations. The men are strong, tough alpha men that can show sensitive sides when they fall & fall hard. The women are strong & sexy. The plot moved at the perfect pace so that we could see Sean & Grace falling in love while the tension was building. The twists & turns amp up the suspense & keep you totally engrossed! The supporting characters are just as memorable & an important part of the storyline. This book will leave you sitting on the edge of your seats from the suspense & intrigue to the heat & passion. Can’t wait for Brian’s story!!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest opinion.
I received an ARC for an honest review.
FBI agent Sean Malone moves back to his hometown of Whisper. While waiting for his new apartment to be ready and the start of his new job transfer he is asked to assist in a local case by the sheriff. Working along with his brother Brian from the state bureau of investigation the hunt for a serial killer begins.
When Grace Whitman’s parents retire to Arizona she decides to move to Whisper to be near her aunt. Opening her own physical therapy practice has her excited for the future.
Gone is the gangly thirteen year old, in her place is a beautiful vibrant woman that has Sean struggling to concentrate on the case and keep his thoughts from straying to the carnal.
After an impromptu dinner with Sean she finds her adolescent crush on his brother Brian shifting to Sean. She was now seeing him through the eyes of a woman and not a child.
Both are tired after a long day and a second impromptu dinner, is quickly agreed upon after meeting in the grocery store.
What follows is a delightful and suspenseful read that will keep you turning the pages. Will they catch the serial killer? Will their attraction turn into more? We get some insight to middle brother Brian and a visit from big brother KC and his wife Moriah. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
