() : Victor Cordero, vicious, powerful, merciless. He’s the King of Colombia and he rules with an iron fist. Victor is ruthless and he makes no qualms about it. He demands the respect he is given. Victor is one of those irredeemable characters that you will either love or hate, I loved him! I actually would have liked to have SEEN a bit more of his dark side.
’ ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎℎ ℎ ℎ .
() : Sofía Montero is a spitfire! She’s vulnerable but fierce and willing to do anything to protect the ones she loves. Although she’s been conditioned to fear the Cordero’s her whole life, she still stands up to Victor, proving that she’s the type of queen he needs by his side. I thought that Sofía’s illness was a great twist, but I feel like that kind of got waylaid along the way and didn’t meet its full potential.

/ : The steam is off the charts explosive in The Devil’s Plaything! Victor is a very dominant alpha, who’s extremely possessive… I’m sure you can guess exactly how that goes down in the bedroom. I loved these two together. Sofía is Victor’s perfect counterpart. While Victor needs some light in his dark world. Sofía provides that while Victor allows Sofía to explore a bit of the darkness that she craves.

: Nope, no cliffhanger. Sofía and Victor’s story wraps up perfectly in a wonderful epilogue. Although Victor and Sofía’s story is complete, there is another character that I would love to see get his own story… Javier, Victor’s bi-sexual right-hand man… yeah, I am here for Javier’s story!! (Hint, Hint Dani René!) So maybe (keeping my fingers crossed!) we will get a little more from this dark Columbian underworld René has created.

Be warned – this read is not the darkest one I have ever read, built some parts of it can trigger someone.
The story starts with Columbian mafia boss (king of the city) Victor that is noted by his people of some dealings behind his back. NO ONE, I REPEAT NO ONE can do that and leave untouched. Same goes here – the payment is needed, and this payment will be young girl Sofia, that due to that will become “Devil’s Plaything”.
Sofia, she has dreams, like BIG dreams and she wants to achieve something in her life which makes her living with purpose, but when her father is found guilty of going behind Victor’s back, she will do everything she can to safe him – even DEAL with the devil, but is that reasonable and can be trusted?
Victor and Sofia are HOT and trust me you will not be able to put this read down while reading as they will make you devour their story in one sitting!
I have read so many amazing books from this author some have been very interesting and dark to read and than some have be just not that intense. Now this it’s definitely a very interesting and a very intense read. Love that you have action, passion, and love that it is just perfect for the stories I love reading and enjoy to the fullest.
If you are looking for a book that is dark and captivating this is it! This book pulled me in from the beginning. Victor is the Columbian cartel boss. Sofia is the price that is paid. She has a backbone and gives Victor more then he bargains for. I highly recommend this book, if you like dark mafia stories this is one you don’t want to miss.
Dani René brings out the darkness and twisted mind games in this violent and intense mafia story ,The Devil’s Plaything.
Victor Cordero is the king of Columbia underworld. He is ruthless, cruel, intimidating, arrogant and feared by everyone. Sofia is as far away from his corrupt and tainted world as possible. But they have a connection after all. And it all exploded when her father got caught by Victor for stealing money from drug deals. Now Victor owns her as a payment. What will she do? Can she sacrifice herself to a monster? Is a monster capable of falling in love?
Victor is the epitome of antihero. He killed and maimed without remorse. He is ready to everything to keep his empire under control. He values loyalty and despises liars. But Sofia stirred up the long dormant desires in him. And he started seeing beyond the lust. He wanted to possess her mind and own her body. And gradually he wanted to hurt her to please and protect her from every danger. And that was possible because of Sofia’s feisty, fierce, compassionate, adorable and sweet nature. This girl never backed down from challenges Victor threw in her way. My heart broke for her pain and the tortures she had to go through. It takes a lot of courage and love to see the good man behind the cruel mafia boss. And she had it in spades. The chemistry is absolutely dirty and panty melting hot. It was also explosive and heavy in angst. The story line kept me on my toes. It was a combination of slow burn and adrenaline filled turns.
The Devil’s Plaything by Dani René was a steamy, dangerous and fascinating adventure. A perfect mafia romance with blood, sweat and tears.
Received ARC for honest review
Victor is called the Devil for good reason as he is merciless and without compassion, so when he is betrayed Sophia find herself as payment for her fathers’ sins. No spoilers: this is a must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written story with complex characters and is a dark, intense, raw, gritty, thrilling and powerful read with added twists along the way. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all lovers of a dark romance.
I’m a sucker for mafia romance books and can never get enough. Victor Cordero aka the Devil a Columbia cartel king is just as his nickname implies. The Devil. He’s an alpha male, dark, sadistic, cruel and who doesn’t take kindly to liars, or thieves. He will make examples of them. Sofia is beautiful, strong, innocent and Victor’s payment for her father’s terrible deed. Can she survive what Victor has in mind? Omg so good!!
The Devil’s Plaything is a dark suspenseful mafia romance that you don’t want to miss! I was hooked from the beginning and I hated for it to end.
Victor is a handsome but evil heartless Columbian mafia leader. He’s not a man you ever want to cross. He will torture you or kill you without thinking twice about it. Victor definitely lives up to his nickname Diablo.
Sofia is a beautiful 18 year old young woman who is innocent but strong willed. She grew up to hate Victor but when she sees him for the first time she wasn’t expecting her heart to flutter.
When Sofia’s father steals from Victor he takes Sofia as the debt. Victor will own her until the debt is paid.
The chemistry between Victor and Sofia is something he can’t explain and also something he wasn’t planning. Sofia wasn’t like the other women instead she was a spitfire that wouldn’t back down from the cartel leader. Victor may be the king of Columbia and Sofia may have started off as his plaything but will she become the Queen of his heart and Columbia? You will need to read to see how Victor and Sofia’s story unfolds
Sofia Montero life has never been a easy one. At 18 years old without a mother since she was very young and a father who works for Victor Cordero the mafia devil himself who rules with a cruelty for those around him especially to those you do wrong by him.
Victor is furious that one of his men would betray him especially a man who has worked for his father and now him. Betrayal must be shown no weakness. Hector Montero has taken from Victor and now his punishment will follow.
Sofia can’t believe her father would be so stupid to risk their lives by betraying the mafia king himself.
Sofia quickly discovers that she will be payment for her father’s sins.
Dark dangerous captivating and heartbreaking. Wonderful characters that leave you wanting more. I hope these stories continue. Highly recommended read.
This is a dark romance, with a brutal antihero and a h who is simultaneously fragile and strong. Everyone knows Victor, the head of the Cordero cartel. Everyone knows to respect him and not cross him. The feisty Sofía didn’t get that memo, and the scenes between the two of them-well, harsh. There was graphic violence in this story, which added to the brutality of the events. I hated Victor, and then I hated him less as the story progressed. There were lots of twisty bits that I enjoyed, and found my fingers flipping through the pages quickly, and it was full of action, and a bit of mystery to figure a few things out. Apparently this is the author’s first mafia romance, and I hope she plans to do a lot more.
I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.
The Devil’s Plaything is a step, well a huge leap really, into the dark world of the drug cartel.
Victor Cordero is the thirty-seven-year-old cartel king of Colombia, the drug trade he rules with an iron fist and everybody fears him, if they go against him they feel his retribution swiftly. They call him- The Devil! Sofia Montero is an eighteen-year-old girl who has already had a lot going on in her young life. Now things are so much worse for her, yet are they?
Although Victor is a dark, alpha male who is used to his own way he has some past history that’s helped to create and mould his character and these traits. Sofia helps us to see he has more layers. I can’t say I absolutely loved him because that would be a lie, but I did enjoy him as the lead character in this story. Yes, Victor is dark and vengeful but another character in the story is even worse I feel. However, I won’t spoil it for anyone.
Sofia, I found to be quite complex too. She is very intelligent and musically talented. She has the capacity to love and see past people’s barriers. As things were revealed I felt so much more compassion for her, her quality of life as well as her ability to love.
At times, I was slightly confused by what was happening and why but then pieces of the puzzle would slip into place and more was revealed, yet I still feel there is more left unanswered but perhaps this is for future stores. The story is quite a simple one, as is evident by the first impression, but there are some twists to make it exciting.

This is a Dani Rene’s first dive into the mafia world and she did not disappoint. I loved every single second of this book and could not put it down. I will warn you though that this book is dark and will contain some triggers for some people. However I am a dark book loving kind of girl and I thought it was so good. Victor is one dark, evil, dirty characters. Don’t feel bad if you fall in love with a man you would never look twice at in real like because in book boyfriend world he will make your list. Sofia is the polar opposite of him and is naive and young and she is just thrown to the wolf by her daddy dearest when he stole from people he shouldn’t have. These two characters have some amazing push and pull. I don’t want to give a thing away about this story so I am stopping there. If you love mafia books that are dark and dirty you do not want to miss this one.
Well OMG this book consumed me it was dark, dangerous and deprived with a whole lot of feels. Victor Cordero the King of Columbia shows no mercury he is ruthless and has earned his name the Devil and with the strong headed Sofia with an attitude she is one brave woman and I have the up most respect for her.
There’s no way you will stop reading I was so excited with jaw dropping gruesome scenes that will make you squirm and I loved every bit. The description and writing is fantastic and I love love The Devil himself.
The Devil’s Plaything by Dani Rene’
4, 5 STARS
The Devil’s Plaything is a dark mafia romance and it is written in dual POV.
Victor is the King of Colombia. He is ruthless, brutal, arrogant, cocky and an a$$hole. He never forgives if someone stoles from him.
Sofia’s father works for Victor. She is a beautiful young girl, sweet and innocent, but unfortunately, she is ill. She needs money for her medication, so her father needs to stoles from Victor.
Victor finds out and takes Sofia as leverage.
You think you’ve got everything figured it out? You don’t. This is all the simple stuff.
Being the King means that he has enemies that wait in the dark to strike. Everyone wants power and money.
The story is mindblowing and dark. It has suspense, violence, danger, secrets, passion, and betrayal.
So if you are a #mafiaromance lover, this book is perfect for you.

But hes oh so delicious
Victor takes hotholes to an hole new level and I couldnt get enough, I was gripped from the first page, dani has a way of drawing you in, making you live in the very moment along with the characters, I felt it all.
This story had me on the very edge of my seat right to the end, I loved the brutal rawness of it all
PHENOMENAL
The Devil’s Plaything by Dani René was a mind blowing and shocking 5 star read. Once I started this book I didn’t stop, I read it in one sitting. This is not a book for those who have triggers because there are several scenes that will shock you.
He’s handsome. He’s violent. He’s evil. And I realize in that moment, I’ve become the Devil’s Plaything
Wow, where to start with this review.
Sofia is an innocent young woman whose father works for Victor, who is known as the Devil. When her father gets caught stealing from Victor he finds out about Sofia and makes an offer her father can’t and won’t refuse. When he learns Sofia’s secret the deal gets even sweeter.
Sofia is shocked to find out what her father did, but she understands his motives. She isn’t happy about going with him but she does it to save her father. Victor is a man of many dangerous faces. We see his very evil and shocking side and a side that opens up to Sofia no matter how much he fights it. He was scorned by an ex and will never let anyone in again.
“You are not leaving me,” I tell her, my tone ominous, and she shivers at the warning. “The moment you walk off this property is the day I kill you.”
There is so much more to this read I don’t want to give anything away. There are several twists and turns. Some of them gutted me and left me ugly crying. You will love to hate Victor but he will grow on you just like he did Sofia. There is a dark dominant attraction that will draw you into Victor. There are some great secondary characters that added a great element. If you like dark reads that will shock you and pull you in, this is a book for you. I beg Dani to give us more from these two. I don’t want their story to end.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
If you are looking for sunshine and rainbows you need to move on. This book is dark and may contain a trigger or two for some. Even though it is dark it is delicious Victor’s yummy-ness will have you turning the pages.
Victor takes King of a$$holes to a whole new dark and dirty level. I am not gonna lie I didn’t feel like I was gonna care for him. Fyi I freaking love him!!! His dark, demented, and twisted mind is so delicious. He is ruthless and makes no qualms about it. Sofia is young and very naive. With her naivety comes something refreshing. She has no idea what is in store for her when she steps into his clutches. She will do anything for those she loves and prices it by bending. The push pull between the two will leave you breathless.
4.5
This was a great cartel romance that was filled with suspense and romance throughout. As the characters were developing we learn a lot about both Victor and Sofia as individuals but what truly pulled me into the story is when they’re together and witnessing their interactions with one another and feeling their chemistry as well as every emotion they’re feeling jump off the pages. There were moments that I was questioning particular characters motives and was surprised at their actions in the end. The way this story was told was exactly how I prefer, the author keeping the reader on their toes and engaged in the story through until the end.
The King of Colombia,Victor Cordero aka Diablo for good reason, rules the country with an iron fist.
He’s merciless and without compassion and sympathy for those that double cross him or steal from him. No matter the reason.
He’s sexy as hell. And women fall at his feet.
But his heart has turned to ice.
Which no one has been able to thaw.
Sofia is a beautiful young lady.
Filled with hopes and dreams for her future.
She’s sassy and strong.
So full of a zest for life.
Unfortunately for her she gets caught up in circumstances not of her making.
And so starts the journey of The Devil and his Plaything.
I liked how Ms. Rene balanced Victor’s darkness with Sofia’s light.
A perfect combination of good and evil.
I loved how the author had my conscience and sense of morality trying to prevent me for falling for Victor.
I really didn’t want to like him.
But I ended up falling anyway
But Sofia was my girl from the start.
I absolutely adored her.
I thought the author rocked the mafia genre!
