Kristen Kelly returned home with a new attitude. No longer the shy, awkward girl of the past, she’s determined to show the small town what she’s made of. Especially Cole Lawson.Challenged by Cole at a kissing booth, she finds the wicked cowboy hasn’t changed a bit. He’s still the most frustrating, infuriating, and tempting, man she’d ever come across. And now he was back for more.
Kristen moves back to Thompson Falls as a new vet, working for Cole’s sister. She lived there with her family, and is looking for some stability in her life. She’s had a crush on Cole for years, but he made her life a living hell with his constant teasing. According to Kit Kat (Cole’s annoying nickname for her), he is the devil incarnate. But now, he has his mind set that he wants her in his life. Permanently. Apparently, he’s had a crush on her for years as well. This is one of the nicest books I’ve read recently, a different take on the enemies-to-lovers theme. The characters are so perfect for each other, even if it takes a while for them to get on the same page. It’s not a long book, but the story grabbed from the very beginning.

This wonderfully written storyline captured my attention from the very first page and the characters were written with such great detail and depth that I couldn’t put this book down until I finished reading the very last page!
Kristen is ready to plant roots. She grew up on the move with her family and longs for a place to be home. What she doesn’t expect is her childhood harrasser to be the man who helps her find what home is.

Cole Lawson had pestered Kristen in grade school by tagging her with the annoying nickname of “Kit Kat” and the name had stuck all through high school. Now she was back 5 years later and heard that hated name called out by the husky voice of a handsome cowboy. She had always been shy, so his teasing absolutely annoyed and embarrassed her. He had dared her to kiss him at the Senior Prom and her running away as she did had all of her classmates laughing. Now she was sitting in the kissing booth under mistletoe at Thompson Fall’s annual holiday festival to help out her friend Miranda by selling kisses for a dollar. But she was a professional veterinarian now and no longer intimidated… right? He reached into his wallet and handed her a $20 bill. Then he kissed her softly. But as he moved back, she put her arms around him, pulled him close, and kissed him as she had dreamed of doing every night since the Prom. When she broke the kiss, he whispered softly in her ear – “you owe me a buck”.
While Kristen sputtered, he explained that her shift ended 10 minutes ago and Miranda had roped him into doing the kissing booth – so she was on HIS time now and owed $1.00 for the kiss. She asked how he knew Miranda, and he reminded her Miranda was his older sister! Kristen stormed off before he could kiss her again. He heard giggles as his niece Chrissy and 3 of her friends watched him. He offered them each $1.00 to not tell her mom on him, but she had already sent a picture of the two of them kissing to Miranda, who asked her to tell her uncle to keep his hands off her partner. But not to worry, his niece assured him – she didn’t say anything about your lips.
Cole donated the rest of the money in his wallet to the kissing booth and closed it down to head back to his ranch and get some work done. But his mind wouldn’t stop returning to K.K. So he called the florist shop and ordered flowers and candy for her – that should get a rise for sure! She read the note saying that her kisses were sweeter! The only man she had kissed was Cole… so she expected frogs or something to jump out at her. But when she carefully opened the box, Kristen found a dozen KIT-KAT candy bars inside with long, thorny stems attached to create a bouquet! What was that man up to?
As she left work for the day, the receptionist told her there was one last patient if she could stop by on her way home. A dog got sprayed by a skunk. Kristen was tired, but she didn’t want the animal to suffer, so she agreed. When she got there, Cole and a puppy came out of the house! The puppy was fine and Cole led her inside for another surprise. When he told her this was him wooing her because that’s what couples did – she wasn’t sure if it was another joke or him being serious! Then he kissed her! He led her to the kitchen where he had a salad on the table and steaks cooking on a grill outside because her receptionist was married to his cousin and said she had skipped lunch! Was she ready to fall in love with him yet? If not, it shouldn’t take long…
This is such an adorable story that will melt your heart. And it’s done with so much fun and laughter as Kristen can’t stop remembering the boy who teased her mercilessly as they grew up. Grab this book and catch up on the rest of the craziness as Cole woos his woman! Will he finally get the girl?
