Simon Taft, Earl of Dashford has spent years cultivating the reputation that earned him the name Devil of Dashford Manor. Having learned as a boy that women were to be admired, but not trusted, he is more than happy to revel in his bachelor life, and is determined to stay that way.Amelia Linchfield is as studious as she is unobtrusive. Being a wallflower doesn’t bother her in the slightest, … slightest, because she’s only in London to meet an illustrious archaeologist, and convince him to make her a part of his next expedition.
In a moment of madness, Simon decides to help Amelia get what she wants, even as he’s finding it harder and harder to fight his growing attraction to the willful wallflower.
They say opposites attract and never have two people been so opposite.
Can a bookish bluestocking really be the one to capture the heart of the Devil?

A kiss to remember. Amelia’s life will never be the same after her encounter with the Devil of Dashford Manor in a study at a ball. A bluestocking, interested in archeology, her one goal is to meet Mr. Tate and join his excavation in Scotland. For Simon, Amelia is an obsession. He always seeks her out at balls, arranges chance encounters and when he finds out her interest in his cousin’s excavation, he has his mother arrange a house party.
Now, Simon is changing. No more carousing, women, drinking and all night encounters. A challenge, but one he knows he can win. Fast paced with a rake focused on winning his prize.
Best book I’ve read recently! Didn’t want this story to end! A little gem to discover! 5 stars plus!
When choosing a book, you never know what to expect! What a beautiful surprise! Truly, Nadine Millard has outdone herself with her third story ‘The Devil of Dashford Manor’! Her style of writing always keep my interest on alert, that’s why I love so much her fabulous series ‘Saints & Sinners’. Readers will be pleased! Couldn’t put it down! Get ready to shed a tear, sigh or giggle!
The Devil of Dashford Manor tells the complex relationship between Simon Taft, Earl of Dashford and Amelia Linchfield. Simon is a complicated man who never trusted women ever since he was a young boy and doesn’t want to loose his freedom, until a mysterious young woman enters his life. Amelia doesn’t know what she really wants. At times, she wants to be part of an expedition, run by a famous archaeologist named Eugene and financed by Simon and on other days she wants to marry and have children. So Simon decides to help her but in the process, falls madly in love with her. However, women are usually attracted to this tall, dark and devilish man, and since Amelia is a little naive in matters of passion, their new relationship is filled with ups and downs! A stolen kiss will do its magic! Now she can’t decide what she wants! Slowly, patiently and with tender care, Simon finally wins her heart forever!
When they say opposites attract, it usually means that people who are very different from each other are often attracted to each other, like it’s the case for Simon and Amelia. Thank you Ms. Millard for writing this beautiful novel!
Who doesn’t love a bespeckied bluestocking who has interest in the love, fall for and tame an Earl who has no interest in love. This book is all you would want in a romantic love story of two lost souls. I love the way Ms Millard has of bringing two people together who should never meet. It is a full of misunderstanding, heart break and romance and of course love. Ms Millard has a beautiful way of writing her characters that draw the reader in. I found this book very hard to put down. And now we wait to see Nic’s story after the amazing build up through out this book. There was no sex in this book but it wasn’t needed. I received this book as an ARC and did my honest review freely.
This is sweet, romantic, dramatic and entertaining. Simon is an uncaring rake, until the night he meets Amelia. After that night he is no longer interested in doing any of the things he normally did. She fascinated him, and made him want to be a more deserving man. Amelia has bern told her whole life that her little sister is the pretty one, that she was too much of a bluestocking. So she turns her interest into going on a dig in Scotland, and the man she wants to go with is Simon’s cousin, but she doesn’t know that in the beginning. They meet when they both ended up in the library while at a ball, and he kissed her, then she kissed him. But it’s the end of the season so she’ll be going home soon, too soon for Simon. He decides to throw a house party and ball, with the pretense being that he wants to introduce her to his cousin. He’s charismatic, romantic and amusing underneath the uncaring rake. Amelia is fascinated with Simon, and confused by him, because no one has ever paid any attention to her, so she can’t completely trust that he’s not making sport of her. The house party doesn’t go the way Simon thought it would, too many misunderstandings and a lack of trust keep them together for long, and it happens multiple times. She’s a little flaky at times, but she’s a very likable and sympathetic character. And he is so unbelievably sweet and caring, and only sometimes oblivious. Once I started reading it I had a hard time putting it down.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
The third book in the Saints & Sinners series it is well written and held my interest throughout. This book had me smiling as I read it.This is Simon Taft, Earl of Dashford or the Devil of Dashford Manor as people call him, and Amelia Linchfield who would rather be on a dig site than in a ballroom story. It held my interest from the first to last page. I want to read the rest of the books in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a must read, I love reading this author’s books they put me in a great mood
Let me start by saying, I LOVE The Monster of Montvale Hall. I’ve read it twice already and I didn’t think there was any way it could be pushed from it’s #1 spot in my heart for books in the Saints and Sinners series. But Simon, The Devil of Dashford Manor, may have just succeeded in doing the impossible. This book… I literally smiled while reading it. I loved the characters. Amelia spoke to me with her awkward bookish self. And Simon- who doesn’t love the bad boy? It was steamy and witty and some of the lines just put me in complete awe of Nadine Millard. She has a copious amount of talent that needs and deserves to be recognized more.
What a great series this has been & Nadine Millard really has shown her expertise of creating a story & building her characters that had me so involved, I finished reading it in the wee hours of the morning!
Simon Taft, Earl of Dashwood, is the Devil of Dashwood & has lived up to his rakish nickname but oh, how you love his looks, attitude, sexy conversations & his wooing! Yet, even with the reputation which he is happy to continue enjoying, he is a true gentleman at heart & it shows up the moment he meets Amelia. Miss Amelia Linchfield is a self proclaimed bluestocking, wallflower & ugly duckling, which she is perfectly happy being. She is in London with her family, as her sister wants to find a husband, & Amelia wants to meet the famous archeologist, Eugene Taft & convince him to let her use her knowledge & go on his next dig.
Amelia & Simon meet by accident when she left the ballroom to seek the library. She accidently found the study & Simon had found the study so he could get a decent drink. He found her to be “not his usual type” but there was something that attracted him to her – he kissed her, she ran back to the ballroom & he didn’t even know her name. The search, planning, wooing, loving & HEA make for a wonderful journey between them & the fun secondary characters – some from the earlier books – round out an endearing cast. I was gifted this ARC & I have given you my personal opinion & recommendation of this terrific read!
This series just keeps getting better and better! Just when I think Nadine Millard has outdone herself, she does it again!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this third book in the series of Saints and Sinners. Once I started reading it, I could barely stand to put it down until I’d finished it.
We all love a little devil in our men and Simon Taft, Earl of Dashford, has it in spades! Although he has quite the reputation, he’s still a very decent gentleman at heart and he quite redeems himself very nicely:) Miss Amelia Linchfield considers herself a wallflower and an ugly duckling but doesn’t let it bother her because all she wants is to be able to use her brains and knowledge and join a famed archaeologist on an expedition. Being a woman, though, she knows her chances of being allowed to join the expedition are almost nil. When she and Simon meet, he’s at a loss to explain his attraction to her because she’s quite the opposite of the women he usually goes after. He sees her beauty, though, as well as her intelligence and vows to help her convince his cousin who is leading the expedition to let her come along. The more time Simon and Amelia spend together, the more she doesn’t know if going on the expedition is what she wants anymore!!!
I loved their story, their passion, their fears and their dreams….this author sure knows how to weave a story that grabs your attention from start to finish.

3.5 stars worth of mixed feelings.
Since catching his mother in an affair as a boy, Simon Taft has known that women are fickle and cannot be trusted. Now the Earl of Dashford, Simon has cultivated his reputation as the Beast of Dashford Manor, determined to remain a debauched bachelor.
Miss Amelia Linchfield is a history enthusiast, perfectly content to be consigned to the position of wallflower since her main goal whilst in London is to meet Eugene Taft, the respected archaeologist with whom she’s been corresponding and hopefully convince him to allow her to join his expedition.
Simon inexplicably decides to help Amelia meet his cousin by hosting a house party, all the while he fights his own attraction to her. As terrifying as these new feelings are for Simon, serious Amelia may be just the one to tame the devil.
Potential spoilers in here:
I liked Simon a lot, despite his terrible debauchery, I was even willing to forgive him for his one slip after meeting Amelia. Truly, Amelia is where I had a problem. The main conflict keeping these two apart boiled down to a childish overreaction from Amelia and her refusal to actually communicate with Simon and demand the truth. After awhile, her inner monologues and reasonings just got a bit repetitive and annoying for me.
I enjoyed this read overall and Simon was surprisingly and delightfully romantic, but Amelia’s behavior towards the end gave me mixed feelings about this one.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
