This post-Napoleonic Wars romance is well written and suspenseful. It deals to a large extent with the seamier side of London life in that era, with all the horror and degradation that goes with it. However, Logan rose out of the ashes and having, much against the odds, inherited a dukedom, tries to set right all the wrongs of the past. However, the one thing he cannot fix is the loss of his beloved wife. He is a shell of a man, the epitome of “the walking wounded”. That is until the day he thinks he is seeing a mirage as his wife walks past him. Sienna has total memory loss prior to waking up on an English estate ten years previously. She doesn’t recognise Logan but is confused when seeing him, as his is the face she has been drawing for years, not knowing who he was. Meeting Logan starts the process of memory recall, and the more Sienna remembers, the more the questions are stirred in her mind. The drama in the story ends in an unexpected and explosive note, but the couple does eventually find their own healing and contentment. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Logan Llipinstein was returning to London from Northumberland through Yorkshire, as he left the coaching inn he spied a woman who he followed to see if she was his wife Sienna, who he thought had been dead the past 10 years. She was but didn’t not remember him and stabbed him when he grabs her. She runs home and looks at pictures she had drawn which was Logan so she go to check on him and tells him where she will ride the next day. They get off the horses and she remembers and faints, When she comes to she’s laying in Logan’s lap and remember him with her heart not her mind. She goes to London with him. I sexual scenes bother u then u shouldn’t read this book otherwise to discover who the duke is and who ends up with Sienna u have to read the book and it’s a very good book.
An incredible book. I loved reading it from start to finish. From page one, the suspense begins to build and the drama unfolds. The characters are memorable and personable. It took about three to four hours to read. The pace of the book is moderate and easy to read. It is about the romance of the ages, to the death and beyond the grave. Logan, his brother Robby and their mother were ousted from their ducal home by their older half-brothers when their father died. Logan’s mother had nowhere to go. She fell upon the mercy of one Bournestein, her old suitor. Bournestein ran bawdy houses and gaming hells. He took Logan, his brother and his mother in and gave them food and shelter. Previously Bournestein had taken up with one of the women of the bawdy house and fathered a girl. Her name was Sienna. After Logan and his family entered the scene, Bournestein never visited Sienna’s mother’s bed again. He now spent all his nights with Logan’s mother. Sienna’s mother was the resentful and vindictive type. She never wanted Sienna and treated her cruelly and beat her often. But Bournestein did, even though he was a horrible man, he loved Sienna in a twisted way. He protected her for the goings and coming of the clients in the bawdy house. Sienna, Logan and Robby all grew up together with a bunch of boys that formed a gang called the Nowhere Boys. Sienna and Logan were in separable and grew to rely on each other. Logan always looked out for her and Robby. Eventually Sienna and Logan ran away and got married. Bournestein always kept tabs on Sienna. Logan joined the military. Sienna followed Logan to Spain. There was a horrible battle being fought and Sienna’s life was in danger. Logan ordered his men toward the village where she was to save her. But it was too late. He found her charred remains and her wedding ring. For ten years he was a shell of a man until one day during his travels the weather caused him to take a detour. There in the middle of the village stood Sienna. He followed her and spoke with her. He told her that he was her husband. But she had no memory at all. She was told ten years ago that she fell from a horse, hit her head and lost her memory. The only thing that tied her and Logan together were her drawings. Over the years, she was constantly drawing his picture. Logan thought to let her be. She was at peace, she was well looked after and did not seem to want for anything. Logan decided to leave the village and go back to London. But Sienna rode after him and told him that even though her mind did not remember him, her body did. She convinced him to take her away with him and she was happy that they were reunited. Sienna peppered Logan with hundreds of questions, but Logan evaded telling her about her past. He thought that she was better off not remembering. On the other hand, he hoped she would remember on her own. When they returned to London all heck broke loose. Bournestein found Sienna, kidnapped her and then soundly had Logan beaten. The war between Bournestein and Logan was reignited and he was ready to recover his wife. But at what cost? As Sienna was remembering bits and pieces of her memory, when she did have a breakthrough, it often brought pain and anguish. That was something Logan wanted to spare her. The battle of wills between Bournestein and Logan became heated and long. This book is full of suspense, drama, action, heartache and pain. The love and romance between Logan and Sienna had been threatened from the very beginning and continued to be so. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it. You will never guess the ending. Prepare to be shocked. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
From it’s beautiful cover through it’s final words, K.J. Jackson’s The Devil in the Duke: A Revelry’s Tempest Novel is a total delight of a Regency Romance tale. Logan Lipinstein has been an interesting character in prior books in the series and it’s about time he got his own story. And a total doozy of a story it is. Read the publisher’s blurb. The description is a good one and doesn’t spoil anything important. I loved this story. I loved Sienna Ponstance and how these two deal with everything as the tale unfolds. This is one of those rare cases where you actually can “tell a book from its cover”. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises – the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
WOW!!!!
I’ve waited since the beginning for Logan’s story, there’s just something about the strong silent type, and Logan just fits the part. Logan has secrets that he hasn’t shared with anyone, he’s been hiding his broken heart for the past ten years, especialy from himself. His beloved wife’s death has left a void in his heart, his decision to help his wife brought death to many of his men, which he’s been trying to atone for the last ten years, the Ravelry’s Tempest has been a balm to his soul.
Until the day a ghost from the past brings his existence and life as he knew it shattering to the ground. His beloved dead wife Sienna is alive and has no recollection of who he is! How does he convince her that they had a life together that they had a past and they loved each other with an all consuming passion?
Sienna can’t believe that the man with the steely grey eyes is her husband, she feels a strong attraction to him but has no recollection of him, except she’s been drawing him for the past ten years! She must be going crazy! Her life just got a little bit more complicated when she decides to throw caution to the wind and follow Logan to London. Every day she spends with
Logan she realizes that he truly could be her husband, her body and heart know the truth!
Logan’s story rocked! This was one rollorcoaster emotional ride! I never thought that Logan was married this was a shocker to me, he really kept his secrets close to his heart. So many dangers follow the couple, a treacherous foe creates havoc for Logan just when they get a glimpse of how the pieces of their lives can be salvaged their enemy is bent on destroying them for good. The past collide with the present, secrets are revealed that can destroy them forever! A surprising twist keeps the reader glued to the pages to the very satisfying ending.
I highly recommend this book although reading the whole series would be ideal!
I recieved a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
This IS the story you are looking for! I admit I was excited and fearful at the same time when I got this, we all have been waiting for Logan’s story so what if it didn’t deliver? Fear not my friends, Logan’s story was well worth the wait.
This is a story of a boy who grew up in a gaming hell/brothel and managed to protect his mother, brother, friend & future wife Sienna from most of the horrors that could have happened. It’s the story of a man who lost everything including his wife Sienna yet still spent his life helping others in need. It’s a story of a man that managed to remain kind in spite of everything and a man willing to give wounded soldiers a second chance when the rest of the world turned their backs on them.
It’s also a story of Sienna who lost her memory and was thought to be dead. She was hidden away from Logan and told she had never been married, she retained no knowledge of her life before she woke up after receiving a blow to her head. She spent 10 years living in limbo, knowing something was missing until a chance encounter brings Logan back into her life.
Their story once they reunite is full of hope. Hope that Sienna will remember him, remember their bond. The dark spots are filled in and we come to know Logan in a way we always hoped we would. As I said at the start of this review… this IS the story you are looking for. K.J. has given us the hero we wanted and knew Logan was.
I was given an ARC in return for my honest opinion.

A surprising start to the story. This was a very emotional read for just about everyone involved in it. The things that Logan, and Sienna went through. Whew! It was pretty intense most of the way through.
Along with Logan’s brother Robby, they all had a pretty rough childhood. One that I am not going to share but let it unfold for you as it did for me. I will say that Sienna has known them from early childhood. Well, she did when she had all her memories.
There is at least one person who will do ANYTHING to keep them apart and almost gets his way with that goal. It definitely caused Sienna and Logan even more suffering than what they had already gone through.
There is plenty of action and running away because of this enemy to their love.
There is a moment or two when Logan and Sienna come together as a married couple. Translation? I mean that there are several heated sexual encounters between them. Married sex in other words.
The story concludes with an explosion of confrontation with a surprising ending.
There is a H.E.A. but my gosh, they sure did earn it. They had a few people who stood by them who made for interesting secondary characters.
“I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and this my honest opinion of it.”
I have read all of the books in K.J. Jackson’s Revelry’s Tempest series and enjoyed every one. Ms. Jackson has a way with her dialogue, character, and story development so that I feel I am right there, feeling the emotions of the characters, and experiencing everything that is happening. At times her stories are so gripping and emotionally charged that I wonder how can they survive this, what can happen next, is there any resolution to what is going on? With The Devil in The Duke, Ms. Jackson has once again excelled at creating a believable story with characters and a romance that thoroughly engaged my interest until the last page was read.
In The Devil in The Duke, Logan Lipinstein, the most steadfast secondary character from the previous Revelry’s Tempest books, finally gets his story told. Logan lost his wife ten years before in the Napoleonic wars. He has silently mourned her, until one day he sees Sienna pass by him carrying a basket of bread. From this point forward progresses a roller coaster ride full of past and present dangers, secrets held and revealed, and lost love reawakening.
This was a most satisfying read and so very romantic. It is one I highly recommend. This is a standalone work, but having read the previous works in the series, they do help to lay the foundation for events happening in The Devil in The Duke. I was fortunate to receive an ARC from the author and provide this voluntary and unsolicited review.
“He knew this would happen. Knew she would die. Leave him alone on this earth. He’d known it from the start. Known it since she was three and he was five. One did not grow old in the world they existed in. For death followed him. It always had:”
Just that quote from the book tore at my heart. This is Logan’s story, one of the men that has been part of this series and managed the guards at The Revelry’s Tempest. He has been a husk of a man since his beloved wife Sierra had died ten years ago and he blamed himself. It had driven his actions in everything he did.
But one amazing day he thinks he sees her and runs to talk to her. Could it be her or was he going crazy! It was her but she had lost her memory and at first did not believe he was her husband
All I can say is this story pulled me in, with darkness and light that exploded at times. Logan, his brother Robbie and Sierra had grown up together under awful circumstances that they only wanted to escape.
The emotions that ran hot and cold brought some sadness but the love these two had was transcendent.
I have enjoyed every book I have read by this wonderful author. Her characters truly come alive and this story will make your heart smile at the end
Loved this book
No memory of love.
Logan Lipinstein lost his wife in Spain during the war. For ten years he’s mourned her death. Never will he love another woman, until the day he sees a woman who looks, walks and talks like his wife. It’s his wife, but she doesn’t remember him or anything before an accident ten years ago. Lies, lies and more lies. If only she could remember. A lot of angst for the hero that’s heartbreaking to read.
This was one amazing emotional ride. One of my favorite books of all time.
I !oved this story!
Wow. There are no words to describe how good this book was. Heartbreaking in the best sorts of way but with a great happily ever after in the end. The story develops quickly and always leaves the reader with baited breath to know what happens next. Truly a must read!
I could not put this down. In the previous books of the series, Logan was a brooding supporting character with secrets. Now we know Logan’s history, thus better explaining his character and behavior. There is a very deep love between Logan and Sienna drawn herein. Great read with some surprises.
I read an advance copy and voluntarily post my review.
I loved this story & am so happy that Logan finally got is own story & found happiness!
Logan Lipinstein lost his wife, his soul mate, 10 yrs. ago during the war. He found Sienna’s unrecognizable body with only the wedding ring he had given her to identify her. Since then, he has just been surviving, trying to make up for past sins & his silver eyes show the haunting left from those years gone by.
Sienna Ponstance is living at her grandmother’s estate & has lived there for the last 10 yrs. Before that, she cannot remember any of her childhood or growing up. Her grandmother told her she lost her memory when she fell from a horse – so she has accepted her life, her charcoals, the quaint village, the peaceful country days & the spinster she has become.
Logan stops at an inn on his way back to London & he swears he sees his wife – she is leaving the bakery carrying a basket of bread. He follows her, he catches her, he approaches her, he tells her she is his wife, she doesn’t know his, she stabs him, she leaves him bleeding!
Will he live – will she remember – can love conquer – will they ever be together again? You will love this story & the whole series. Ms. Jackson has such a talent with words to make you fall in love with her characters & submerge you into the story.
I usually live in lala land, the land of beautiful people. This book is a little gritty for me. Lov e triumphs as it should
