Don’t make the devil angry…
Luke Thorne loves having one hell of a good time. As the ruler of every dark creature to walk the earth, he certainly has more than a bit of a bad side. He lives for danger and isn’t the type to lose his heart—mostly because he doesn’t have one. Then she walks into his life.
Mina James is seduction in the flesh, a perfect temptation that the devil himself couldn’t … himself couldn’t pass up. Too late, Luke realizes he’s let a real siren into his life, a woman who is bent on using his dark powers to free herself from hidden enemies. Since Luke isn’t the type of man to be used, he should walk away from her, but…something about Mina draws him close.
Soon he’s realizing that she isn’t who she appears to be. Not dark and cold, but burning red hot. Mina is a woman fighting for her life—and the Lord of the Dark suddenly finds himself in an unlikely role…hero. Luke isn’t going to let her enemies destroy Mina. He will fight heaven and hell to keep her. But in the end, the secrets they both carry may just rip apart a love that should never have been…
There are Bad Things in the world…very, very bad. Are you ready for them?

Pretty good book. Would have liked to have more information about the world to better understand some of what was going on.
I enjoyed this book.
I really liked this book, people are more than rumors and more than first expected.
Love the story line. Love the strong characters
He’s supposed to be super strong but he keeps getting shot down and gets incapacitated pretty easily
Great story. Loved the Lord of the Dark and his mermaid/sirene
Wasn’t happy the way the plot developed.
I love Cynthia Eden but this was one of my least favorite reads of hers. The writing is on point but the characters were just off. Without giving too much away he is the Devil so I expected more … I don’t know, bad assery. He really is kind of lame, having only two main cohorts, not nearly enough power, and an inability to figure more out quickly enough. Her transformation was a surprise, though, and yeah, I get it that he’s. it ALL bad, but mostly bad would have made him more interesting.
no matter what the odds are against two people and love can over come even anything and if you love some one you can give up your own happiness for the person to be happy
Loved the book
The Devil in Disguise was a very entertaining first book of The Bad Things series. Cynthia Eden provided a delightful romantic, suspenseful story in this first novel. The world building was interesting. There were two brothers – Leo – he was good and the bearer of light. He was to protect all humans and those on the side of Good! His twin brother, Luke (Lucian Thorne) was born for darkness and every creature who hid in the night would bow to him. The world would fear him! Luke meets Mina (Minalynnn James) and is immediately taken with her. Which is her plan! Mina has a plan! She intends to enchant Luke and steal a valuable item from him that she desperately needs. Mina encourages him to take her home to his island. Things don’t work out as she planned! Luke’s two “guards” on the island, two shifters – ,a white wolf and Julian, a black panther are devoted to Luke. Mina appears to be a Siren which of course provides her a unique way to protect herself. Mina manages to imprison Luke in one of his cells for prisoners – definitely wasn’t his plan! And the chase is on. Mina can not acquire the item she needs and runs out of the house – only to be chased by the two shifters down to the ocean. To their astonishment she jumps into the ocean. And the chase is on. The action continues constantly! Luke and Mina jump from one disasterous problem to another. The story was fascinating. I read the book in one sitting. There was a setup for the next book, which I very much want to read. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for an enjoyable, action packed romance.
Fancy labels aside, I wanted to read the next book. Is there a better review?
Really a fantastic read
Great Read. Inventive characters, easy to follow dialog, not to dark just the right amount.
Enjoyable read
Suspending disbelief is the only way to get into this book but it has some interesting twists on the “unaware witch meets noble vampire” genre. I spent a lot of time wanting to smack the heroine. Is the only way to portray strong women to make them pouty, whiny, and irrationally stubborn?
Loved it!!! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
I liked this book by Ms. Eden, but I’m honestly a bit conflicted as what to say about it,while I did enjoy it,it wasn’t a favorite by any means.. It had a rather slow start,w/a an overwhelmed and out numbered h who runs from her mate in the H in part because doesn’t give her a good enough reason to stay and then it’s almost constant non stop action, sighs sadly most of it w/them apart.. Then when they finally do come together and pledge themselves to each other ? it’s at the end then it’s over… end and then it’s over 🙁
To me that sucks, I don’t enjoy a story (especially a supposed “romance” ) where the couple aren’t really a couple to the very END of a story (especially if they don’t get to spend much time actually together during the story) I don’t want it to be necessarily easy for them, I like a book that has a build up to them coming together,a slow burn , but they should get there at at least 50% of the book and them we should get to see and enjoy them actually being a couple….
not fight being together the whole book, then BAM! just before it ends they get together and them it’s over The END…
No that’s just not right…
Very interesting premise, but didn’t love the execution…
This is book 1 of 6 the series Bad Things, it’s the story of Luke and Mina. One the Lord of the Dark and the other A Mermaid. All the books can be read as a stand alone issues. They have interconnecting characters, fast-paced action, suspense and lots of paranormals.
I loved this book and IMO it’s a great start to an awesome series
