Sometimes falling is the safest step to take.Chloe Reardon has a problem, and his name is Gavin Wallace.Okay, Gavin isn’t exactly a problem, unless you consider a highly attractive wind vampire with dubious intentions a problem. Especially if that vampire is your boss. With an affinity for kilts and excellent taste in music. But none of that matters because Chloe Reardon has had enough of … has had enough of dangerous men. Danger is overrated. Danger is the opposite of sexy. So Gavin is the last man – or vampire – on earth she needs to let into her heart.
Except what if the most dangerous man you knew was also the one who made you feel the strongest?
The Devil and the Dancer is a paranormal romance novella in the Elemental Legacy series.

Since reading the Elemental Mystery novels I have been hooked on this series and have and will follow it wherever it may take me. I love the characters that inhabit this world both good and bad because they stay true to who they have been created to be. They are not as perfect as either humans or vampires but have flaws that can be related to by many people. This is set in contemporary times and so they end up having to deal with many of the same problems that we all do in our everyday lives. Things like family and relationships, both romantic and platonic.
The story is very well written and gives you a great deal of information on who these characters are and who they are to each other. The fact that characters from previous books are peppered throughout adds even more depth because you have the history of what has come before. This is scattered over not one but multiple series incarnations.
Chloe Reardon has a problem and his name is Gavin Wallace. Gavin isn’t so much the problem unless you consider a highly attractive wind vampire with dubious intentions a problem. But none of that really matters because Chloe has sworn off dangerous men. The danger is overrated. So Gavin is the last man or vampire she needs to bring into her heart.
This book takes place during the time that Ben and Tenzin are in Puerto Rico on their treasure hunt and lets us see what was happening at home when they made those calls to Chloe.
There is nothing very explicit just light sex but still very provocative.
Audiobook review: Chloe & Gavin make for an interesting and lovely story! This short story is entertaining and we learn more about Gavin! Giovanni and Beatrice along with their new baby also make for a nice appearance! The narrator did a fantastic job!
This was a story that needed to be written. I can’t thank the author enough for not making me wait any longer. While I was reading Blood Apprentice on release day in February, it was driving me nuts not knowing what was going on with Chloe. The hints led to all kinds of terrible things rattling around in my head that I in no way wanted to happen to Ben and Tenzin’s friend.
Happily, the book was packed with a lot of drama. Will she? What is he thinking? Why is she here? What is Gavin so stressed out? What is going to happen? Why all the stress? Is something terrible going to happen? Why are Beatrice and Gino coming town, because it could be bad??? These were all questions that popped into my head. Luckily for me the author has a way of gift wrapping a beautiful story with a bow of HEA that makes my day.
After meeting Chloe in Midnight Labyrinth, I could not wait to see wait happened with the amazing chemistry between her and Gavin. And with all the teasing snippets of the New York happenings in The Blood Apprentice I am so glad that Elizabeth gave us the full story. This novella is really a story of falling in love and relationships with a supernatural twist that will make you want to go find your own Scottish vampire. This is a great, easy afternoon read that will leave you with nothing but good feelings!

Oh man, this book was so good. This is Chloe and Gavin’s story and boy do they have chemistry. I love how Gavin realizes his feelings and accepts them for what they are. There was some push and pull, but not too much. I think Gavin was ready for this change. Chloe really needed someone like him to support her. I love Gavin, he is so much more passionate than how I saw him in The Elemental Mysteries. I loved that he made her a studio because she loves to dance and he loves to watch her. There is a small issue with Gavin’s sister, it was resolved for now. I can see her being a problem later on. I would love to see if/when they have the big discussion about Chloe’s future as a vampire. Who will change her if she decides turn? I can’t say enough about this book and Elizabeth Hunter as an author. She is in my top 5 of all time favorites.
I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book and oh my!!! I didn’t want it to end!! I absolutely love Gavin and Chloe and have been so excited to read their story. It was amazing!! I had a huge smile on my face the entire time I was reading. It’s one of those books that just makes you feel happy. This is one I will definitely want for my collection.
This novella from Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental world takes place while Ben and Tenzin are away in Puerto Rico. The story of Chloe and Gavin who have featured as side characters was hot and sweet , I was so happy when I found out we would get a whole book about their story. We get to see the relationship develop with a not so subtle nudge from some of our favourite vampires.
We also meet a new character which ultimately shakes the story up and makes you curious about them.
As always Elizabeth’s romance is beautifully written and makes you swoon.
