If I’d known then what I know now, I’d never have tried to reclaim my crown. After fleeing London and the scandal that tore my family apart, I’m left broken, confused, and mourning a life I never realized was so fragile. I’m used to being on top. I’m used to being admired, and now I’m desperate for a way back in. I think I’ve found it when I see Ashton Cole—my first crush, my first kiss—at my … Cole—my first crush, my first kiss—at my new school. But Ash isn’t who he used to be. He’s the king. And me… well, I’m not going down without a fight—even with the lies and secrets filling the school halls around us.
Please note this is a mature YA read and contains bullying/sex/bad language.

Fair warning this does end it quite a cliffhanger. This story is a rollercoaster of emotions. This is a story of Rose who was the queen of her school in London and when her father is arrested for money laundering we see how fast she has fallen. Taken to New York by her mother to start over she starts a new school and has to come up with a plan to take down their queen and reclaim the crown, only to learn the boy she had a crush on since she was 13 is the king of the school and dismisses her. We read as Rose rises and falls, admits defeat and then is taken to the brink that when all secrets are revealed there is no going back. An interesting and entertaining story. Can’t wait to read the conclusion.
I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
Best book of 2020, feel all the emotions possible!
SPOILER ALERT-I got this book as a gift. I have never felt so many gut wrenching emotions in one book! Poor Rose is manipulated by her mother. Rose is the most popular in the school. Rose is a girl who would do ANYTHING to get to the top. Including losing who she is & giving in to the darkness. Her father is also manipulating her for other reasons. She is forced to move to New York (she lived in London). Now she has to start all over at school. The climb to be the most popular starts over now. What’s worse, the guy she had a crush on one summer is at the school. She has measured every guy by him for years! He is her first love. And he is the most popular guy at her new school. Will she risk everything including him, for popularity? They are both victims of their circumstances! And it is tearing them apart!
This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. This is the first book in the new ‘Albany Nightingale Duet’. I never wanted to put this book down. This book was an emotional roller coaster.
Rose was the crown wearing queen B at her school, St Paul’s Grammer in London until that is swiped out from under her feet and her and her mother leave behind a mess of criminal destruction. Even her best friend and boyfriend turn their backs on her in her time of need.
I can’t wait for ‘The Resurrection of Us’ the next book I needed it five minutes ago.
I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.
Such a great book to read. This book portrays so many emotions through out the book. Rose who lives in London is the Queen B at her school. Then one day everything changes and her mom is telling her to get some stuff because they are leaving. In the midst of all this she sees the most devastating scene ever. How will she move on? Will her friends be there for her? Well she finds out more bad information from her so called friends. Well now Rose and her mom are heading back to the states. Here she runs into the one guy she fell in love with one summer. Only now he is a King at Albany and she is now a fish. The chemistry with these two is there but the emotions are not strong enough for wither of them. What will happen? Can she rise to become a Queen once again or will she stay down? Like I said, this is a great book with a roller coaster of emotions.
Being at the top of the elite at school is the ultimate or is it?
Rose has her life literally turned upside down and I have to say I was amazed by her inner strength and determination. I admired her will to battle on, I’m sure I would have turned tail and run. Ash is a more complex character on the one hand yet not on the other. I won’t say too much for fear of giving things away. Now Grayson is an intriguing character and one I was wary of from the time of his introduction yet he too shouldn’t be judged too quickly. The descriptions of all of the characters are clear and detailed, making it very easy to visualise them and get to know them.
This story broke my heart at times- literally! Tears formed in my eyes and my throat started to close up with emotion. There is only so much one person should have to go through! At other times I was left chuckling and cheering. Occasionally I was spitting mad too. Summed up, it means this author has an amazing talent for not only evoking the feelings the characters incur but also to be a participant in the story, not just an observer.
This is a fast paced story and extremely easy to read due to its solid storyline, it has plenty of drama as well as a touch of romance thrown in. I loved everything about it and can not wait for the second book.
Title: The Destruction of Rose

Miss Raithby is a new author for me, therefore this is my first read book of her.
I really like this, the plot and writing style. As much as I love to hate Rose’s character I simply can’t. There’s something about her that I’m drawn to. Even she’s the representation of an elite + queen bee.
“I’m plastic. I’m a broken girl, playing at queendom.”
To be honest I thought this gonna be an another bully highschool Romance, but once you meet Ashton, man he’s sweet and truly dear Rose, but givin the circumstances he’s hands are strongly tied.
“When Ash returns to his golden throne, and I return to my crumbling castle. This time is ours and while it lasts, I’m determined to hold onto my happiness even as the first fine cracks begin to splinter across my heart.”
“Ashton Cole is the king and wearing the crown takes sacrifice, and he sacrificed my Ash a long time ago.”
I have to say, that Rose embodies a strong female character how she stands up for herself despite of her insecurities and doubts, she’s not showing any weakness.
“They wanted to break me, and they did. And now they’ll have to deal with the twisted, broken monster they’ve left in my wake of their destruction.”
Rose and Ashton’s story will conclude in The Resurrection of Us (Duet 2).

Wow. What an emotional roller coaster ride that was!
Rose is the queen bee at her school until one day, she isn’t. In an instant, her whole world is turned upside down and she must find her place in another country and a new school.
A blast from her past rocks her world, and she has to decide what to do next – fight her way to the top, or settle for second best.
This is a story filled with angst and drama. We get to watch as Rose loses the girl she once was and becomes bitter and twisted. We get to revel in her joy and love but also watch her heart break.
Brilliantly told story that will leave you wanting more.
An intense bullying story that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Rose’s life was changed when her fathers misdeeds are out in the open. Her fall from grace and the crown she metaphorically wore in her London school is gone. In NYC she try’s to get the crown there but Ash the boy she loved is there and hes the King with his own Queen. This story has very steep betrayal and angst. Rose breaks and revenge is bitter.
I recieved an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
She was the queen of St. Paul’s Grammer but her crown fell off the minute everything came to light.
Her life and social status ruined beyond repair.
A new home, a new country a time to reign supreme once again.. or is it..
Albany Nightingales private school is her new fresh start.
But her past is coming back.. whether she likes it or not..
This was a slow burner for me. I found the beginning half of the book (minus the excitement at the beginning) just average.
I wasnt hyped up, I didnt fall in love with the characters and the bullying wasnt anything I hadn’t seen before.
I could see this book easily being swallowed up in this genre as there was nothing outstanding in it.
The second half of the book when the game was played, and the positions changed brought back my waning interest.
As the crescendo neared I liked the new dynamics and possibilities, but I feel like I’m sat on the fence about most of the book.
I didn’t dislike it, but I also didn’t love it at the same time.
She was worthy of more, they were worthy of more. Maybe the second book will give me that…
