Is he really their Savior or their Destroyer?

Not necessarily a book I’d recommend, but everyone’s tastes are different. I got this for free on my Kindle through Amazon so I guess no real harm done. But this book made me very annoyed. Why?? Because there’s a love triangle (why are there always love triangles?) with the main character who has no morals, but is super OP, and one ridiculous cliff hanger. I really want to know what happens in the next 3 books, but I’m so annoyed with it that I don’t want to pay $10 just to be more annoyed.
The Destroyer by Michael-Scott Earle is the first book in the The Destroyer series. A war is being waged against the country of Nia, and Duchess Nadea and Scholar Paug are on a quest to find the one to save their country. Is he the one that will save them or is he the downfall of Nia?
I had trouble with this story for the first 25%. It was hard going, so I gave myself a week and tried it again. The pace picked up, but I had problems with the flashbacks. It took me a bit to realize if the flashbacks were actually happening or in the past. The female characters seem to all be the same. All alluring with wonderfully sculpted bodies which, for me, was a bit of a disappointment. I did like the main character and Paug, which is the only reason I picked the book back up. There were inconsistencies which, with an editor, would have been resolved. There was quite a bit of talk and references to sex, and actual sex encounters, which I did not care for. I passed through those pages swiftly. There was quite a bit of fighting and bloodshed. This is the perfect book for those looking for sex and bloody battles.
I’m not sure quite what to write.
I want to like this more than I do, but I think I am let down by it aswell.
While I enjoyed it.. There is something missing that it needs to work.
Slightly disappointed in some of the characters, I think they needed to be more than they were.
I think the word I am looking for is ‘disjointed’ there is something missing in the characters and the way it is written, and that makes it disappointing to read. It could be more than it is, and should probably be. To be honest I don’t know if I want to slap, kill or hope some of the characters die, There are a couple of characters that do work, and need to be delved in to more but maybe that’s just the way I like to read a book.
I do agree with some one else’s review that the so called love triangle didn’t work.
It actuLly made me not like the main character, almost without honour and morals.
Again that maybe my view?
But it is worth reading at least.
The author does a wonderful job of describing fight scenes. Truly entertaining.
Unexpected ending, but excellent writing with as great story being told. Lots of action and passion, I really enjoyed the re-living off the past when memories are triggered by random things.
