After trailing spouse Marah Lenaerts suffers her third miscarriage in as many years, her husband Eden surprises her with a vacation to Malaysia, hoping it will lift her spirits. And it does, as they enjoy trading the bustle of their Shanghai life behind for the idyllic tropical paradise. But while on a diving excursion, they’re taken hostage by a group of terrorists, who take them to a remote … island and hold them there for ransom. The longer that time drags on, though, the more doubts Marah begins to have about their captors’ true motivations.

Spell binding misery with an ordinary woman suffering through and overcoming a dangerous experience to come out stronger on the other side.
short book but was really a page turner. Half way through I thought that the ending might be what it was, but enjoyed the journey.
Flowed well. Character growth a bit unbelievable but it works.
Slow moving storyline.
A planned plot to be able Toto free a a couple from kidnappers, but it isn’ quite what it appears.
A well conceived and original story line but the composition is too repetitive in the first part of the tale and the story ending is too brief. None the less, a good book.
I thought the beginning of the book was very boring and kind of repetitive. But the end of the book was something I wasn’t expecting which made me enjoy the book.
This was a good book I like the characters I did figure it out halfway through but that’s not saying much I figure most books out halfway through.
Boring, not interesting, have up after 50% of book
A lot of build up for not much of a plot….
Could not get into this book. Didn’t like the characters and certainly didn’t like the way Eden and marah related to each other. The writing seemed adolescent at best. Maybe it got better but I just put it down and decided not waste my time. Neurotic characters and boring narrative – just couldn.t do it.
It surprised me with its twist of plot.
Extremely well written with good character development. Will read more by this author
I was intrigued by the plot but when reading it, I realized that I could pretty much predict the outcome from the beginning. It was a quick read – read it on a two hour plane ride with time to spare – and entertaining, but thought the characters could have been developed more. A 200 page book could easily have been 300. And I was put off by some basic flaws – the author describes the main character as being sick to her stomach more than 5 times. When you notice these things, I feel like they are overused.
I would never thought of a plot like this, it started out so sweet then ended so terribly, it was a good fast read, couldn’t put it down
I could not put it down
It was ok. I almost stopped reading it several times
Watch where you vacation. You could be next.
A real scary story that has happened in real life.
Terrorists are everywhere.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat- scared. I won’t forget this novel for a long time. It was NOT just your average mystery.
Finished in one night- could NOT put it down! A real nail-biter!
