In The Devil Duke, the beautiful but scheming Baroness will stop at nothing to keep her man from falling for his new waifish house guest, to no avail. We catch up with the jilted aristocrat in The Demon Duchess.Abigail Sutton does not take kindly to being dumped. Desperation leads her to seek comfort in the arms of her surly horse trainer, the mysterious Jack Johnson from America. A night of … night of fleeting passion results in a life-altering “predicament”. Now the Baroness finds herself fighting for the attentions of an entirely different sort of man—a man who is much more than he seems—a man who might just offer her the family she’s never had. That is, if she can prove to him she is not just a pampered pain-in-the-ass.
Her pursuit of the handsome but stubborn drifter lands the Baroness in Montana of all places, where she will learn plenty of new skills—rope-tying and lasso-tossing just to name two. Many surprises are in store for the newly thawed ice queen. Heartbreak over one man will lead to true love with another…

I was looking forward to reading this and it did not disappoint. I can’t even tell you how amusing this story is. I laughed or chuckled multiple times while listening. The storyline is great and the characters….they have such growth to them.
I really can’t believe the turn about for the Baroness. I was pleasantly surprised with her thoughts, attitude and sense of self. I just wish we could have seen her learning to rope, lasso and tie knots. That had to be some pretty good stuff. She is a dream character because of her ability to grow and become a better…her. She was my favorite in this book. Usually it’s the men but she was done so splendidly.
I did enjoy the coolness and the possessiveness of Jack as it caused many romping funny scenes. It was nice to meet his family as well. As they added to and caused some of these scenes. I want to give a shout out to seeing the Duke and Duchess from Book 1. I loved seeing them and all their silliness they have going on again.
OK there were funny moments as mentioned above. I listened to this on audio and Virginia Ferguson was AMAZING! When she was quacking like a duck??? I couldn’t. stop. Laughing! She nailed that! I think she got more into the story and the characters with this one. She made this book enjoyable!
Fans of the first book in the series, The Devil Duke, get ready to have all your feelings changed in The Demon Duchess. Abigail, whom we couldn’t stand in book one because she was in the way of Izzy & Trevor’s love, will now become a character readers/listeners root for. I love when an author can change my mind on a character. Just a few minutes into this book and I was already rooting for her happiness. Abigail is heartbroken that Trevor picked Izzy. She has a one night stand with the sexy horse trainer Jack Johnson. She expects to never see him again but something unexpected happens and she is bonded to him forever. As she fights for him to love her and stop seeing her as an entitled brat, she starts to learn who she really is and what truly makes her happy. I will be honest, for most of the book I was not a Jack fan. I thought he was a jerk and Abigail deserved better. She’s a bigger woman than me. I would have told him where to go with some of his words and actions. But in the end it was all worth it. I am now a Jack and Abigail fan. I loved that Trevor and Izzy had a good amount of time in this book too. I guarantee fans of this series will fall in love right away and be surprised at their changed feelings towards Abigail. I know I was!
This is my first book by Tessa and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautifully written and word for word good. Loved John and Abby.
The Demon Duchess by Tessa Bowen is the second book in the Demon Duchess Series. The first book is the Devil Duke. I listened to this book on audio Narrated by Virginia Ferguson. Virginia Ferguson did a great job narrating with the different voices she used for the characters. This is the second book of Tessa Bowen’s that I have read and look forward to reading more of her books in the future. I would definitely say the second book is better than the first. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes second chance romances.
