When Lyleia Naiad was head-hunted by Brimstone, Inc., for her job as Executive Assistant to a high-powered billionaire demigod, she was given one directive–do NOT fall in love with Castor Dioskouri. Doesn’t matter if he’s the son of Zeus and can electrify a room with a single glance. As an ex-nymph, she possesses a unique ability–a gift from the goddesses to protect nymphs from the randy … gods–to resist her boss’s charms.
Or so she thought.
He insists she accompany him to an alpha wolf shifter mating ceremony, an event where the pheromones fly, and so do clothes…and inhibitions.
Goddesses save her, because Castor has stolen into Lyleia’s heart, and she’s not so sure she can hold out much longer…
This novella was previously self published but has undergone a complete re-edit. Scenes were added, things were changed, but the kissing still remains!

Her Demigod Complex is about a water nymph (kinda sorta ex) and a demigod (half-god with Zeus for a father), which made me want to read it just because it has a pairing you don’t see much of in the paranormal genre. You might get mention of them, but rarely are they the main leads. That was definitely a lure for me.
Layleia and Castor are an interesting couple. Both are very old, and both carry very old scars. This book is short, but it does a good job of letting us get to know and fall in love with the characters perfectly. Layleia has been working as Castor’s assistant for the last year, so we drop into the story with them already being familiar and a little in love (though silently of course). This quick story is their tipping point. It’s a fun romp that I enjoyed from start to finish!
The book is written in third person (omniscient) and from both characters perspectives. It features a number of paranormal characters, some otherworldly politics, some office politics, a lot of action, a good dose of steam, and a heartwarming romance. I look forward to the next book! You should totally give this one a shot too.
I loved pretty much everything about this book, and finished it in just a few hours. You can definitely finish it in one sitting. All you need is a comfy chair, a cup of cocoa and you’re good to go! Sure, a half-naked, six-pack ab demigod massaging your feet would be nice too, but let’s not get greedy. I loved the unique paranormal features of this novel, in that we are dealing with a nymph and a demigod rather than your typical vampire romance.
Nymphs are known for being sexually tantalizing, yet also for being able to resist the temptations of gods and demigods. However, throw in her sexy boss and a werewolf mating ritual with pheromones flying about like crazy, and Leia doesn’t stand a chance. She’s always had an interesting relationship with her boss. It’s one filled with respect, teasing, and a hidden lust on both their parts.
Leia is determined to resist Castor’s charms during this wedding weekend away, but deep down I think they both know the inevitable was bound to happen. Rumor has it that demigods can go all night in the bedroom. Leia and Castor have no problem putting that rumor to the test.
This book might be short, but it has everything! Just the right amount of sexual tension build-up which eventually turns into a wonderful give-in to temptation. Then you’ve got an interesting side-plot surrounding the werewolf wedding itself, and one very pissed off werewolf determined to keep an ancient prophecy from coming true by any means necessary. Then you have their past histories which influence both the suspense and romance aspects of the story. And it’s all blended together so perfectly that no one feature outweighs the others.
Love this author so much! Check out THE BOSS by her, too.
So much free fun! Part of My Paranormal Valentine collection for a limited time!
What a fun read! 🙂 Definitely worth a read….
Lyleia Naiad is a water nymph who lost her spring, and now is estranged from the others of her kind. Now she works as an executive assistant for the Demigod Castor Dioskouri . He is the son of Zeus and runs a multi billion dollar company.
This is a fun paranormal romance filled with fabulous characters and steamy scenes. There is a nasty magical battle and a wild wedding.
This is the first book in two different series. If the rest are as much fun we are in for a good ride.
Great fun.
Lyleia “Leia” Naiad is a former nymph, having lost her spring after a vindictive werewolf had hers destroyed. After her banishment, Leia became an Executive Assistant to Castor Dioskouri, who is also a demigod and the son of Zeus. Nymphs, whether active or banished, have a magical interference, allowing them to resist the charming behavior of gods and demigods. Leia should be more than safe from Castor…..but her heart might not be safe.
Castor Dioskouri asked for one think from Brimstone Inc. when he requested a new assistance. He did not want anyone who would be attracted to him, require love and affection, or fall into lust with him. The company chose the perfect employee, a water nymph. Blessed with a gift allowing nymphs to resist sexual temptations, he thought he’d be safe from Lyleia Naiad. Except he wasn’t really.
When Castor discovers Lyleia is going to resign, he does everything in his power to prevent that from happening. During her latest attempt, Castor requests her attendance at a mating ceremony between to shifter packs. Determined not to go, Leia tries to remove herself from the situation but Castor wins, like always. Leia soon finds herself making travel arrangements to Rocky Mountain National Park where they will be staying with the pack members in the Stanley Hotel.
The Demigod Complex is a quick read, blending paranormal romance and mythology in a novella that packs a punch. Both Leia and Castor are terrific characters and I really enjoyed the chemistry the author created between them. The world building was done well and I was able to visualize the story as I read along. I can’t wait to begin the second book in the series.
I was provided a copy of this book to read.
Demigod Complex is a Paranormal Romance with a Billionaire, Office Romance Troupe. This is a novella that has been reissued with more… This book contains a HEA, no cheating, no cliff hanger, lots of wit, mythology and awesome chemistry.
Lyleia Naiad is executive assistant to a billionaire demigod. Her friend Delilah, who is Brimstone, Inc., gave her the job on one condition that she would not fall in love with Castor Dioskouri. It doesn’t matter that he’s the son of Zeus and has massive powers. Leia is an ex-nymph, she has powers that are unique, the power to resist lust and her boss’s panty-melting charms.
Castor insists that she fly with him to Colorado to attend an alpha wolf-shifter mating ceremony, an event that causes inhibitions from the pheromones.
Leia encounters a werewolf, her nemesis that wants her dead. Castor can’t help but want to save her and being a God he has powers that trump the Werewolf’s. Leia doesn’t think she good enough for Castor but he has stolen her heart. How much longer can she hold out before she has to run again?
I really liked it!
Fun fact: The “writing prompt,” if you will, for this story was Abigail randomly selecting two supernatural creatures and writing them falling in love. Awesome, right?!
Though until now I only knew of Abigail by her western/contemporary romances (hadn’t read them, though), I was intrigued to see how she paranormaled. And I was not disappointed!
Leia certainly had it rough; the one thing she loved the most in the world was stolen from her, and she was cast out and forced to make it completely alone. But, she had one thing that most other creatures, human and otherwise, didn’t possess, and that was immunity to the charms of Castro. Lei also had admirable inner strength, and I enjoyed reading how she overcame her fears and seemingly unbeatable situations as the victor.
And Castor, having been dealt a painful hand himself, was just trying to do his job and didn’t want distractions. But I liked that he wasn’t afraid of his feelings, and I liked that when he realized what he did about Leia, that he didn’t run away from it or just sit back and do nothing. He was an active player in what unfolded because he truly wanted to help Leia.
Oh, and brace yourself for a burst of steam in these here pages! That mating ceremony and what followed was something else! Whoo!
This book seems to be the first of a series, and I could not be happier. I liked learning about these mythical creatures and I’m interested to see where the series goes next. The story here seemed to wrap up with a Happily Ever After, so I wonder where it will go next?
This is book 1 in Brimstone Inc and I would keep in mind that this is definitely a PNR! So if you don’t like them, you won’t like this book. Lyleia (Leia) Naiad works for Brimstone Inc as an executive assistant to one of the owners, Castor Dioskouri. Upon her accepting the position she only had one absolute directive-do not fall in love with her boss! It’s doesn’t matter that he is the son of Zeus and a demigod, or that he has a charm that most cannot resist. As an ex-nymph she possesses the ability to resist him and all gods and demigods. Castor knows he asked for his next assistant to be able to resist him, but he never planned on having feelings for that person as well. And when the opportunity arises for him to show her what they could have, he will take it. But he doesn’t plan on having to not only show her what they could have but to have to try to protect her from someone from her past at the same time.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! PNR is my top favorite genre and this book in no way disappointed in that aspect! Leia went through something that for her was extremely traumatic. And it also changed the way her life went in ways that she never imagined. But she is a strong woman who still manages to be sweet and loving. Castor also went through something that absolutely no one should have to. All due to something (in my opinion) is just stupid! And while he was strong enough to survive it, it also made him close himself off and hardened his heart. Until someone helped him open back up again. These two together have this chemistry that you love along with a friendship that you didn’t expect. My only drawback-I felt it was too short. Some parts were a little rushed and I just wanted a more in depth story for their backstories. But on a whole, I definitely loved everything else! And now I need a story for his brother, because although we didn’t meet him in this-he was mentioned!
What a fun novella, which had me wishing for more. Novellas are always tough to read especially when you have a lot of ground to cover. I think Abigail did a great job with the limited amount of words that she had. Greek mythology is a huge fave and any sort of retelling or just a story in that world in general, I’m here for all of it.
With the simmering attraction that has been brewing underneath between Castor and Lyleila, I just couldn’t wait for everything to unfold. From the office to sharing a room at a wolf shifter mating ceremony, something is bound to happen.
I enjoyed this novella immensely, we had some laughs, some fanning because these two are hot together (hello, nymph!) and a deeper story of Leila’s past. I felt the connection all around with these two and I’m hoping we get to see them again in this series.
Loved this read and can’t wait to read more! The Demigod Complex is a great start to this series, I just know we’ll be in for a fun ride.
**THANK YOU TO THE PUBLISHER FOR A COMPLIMENTARY COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR A REVIEW**
Abigail Owen
Castor is Demigod, his not up himself and is quite considerate for a boss, but he does insist his PA attends a mating ceremony with him.
Lyleia, she is a water nymph without a spring. She enjoys her job working for Castor but she doesn’t stay in one place for too long and her time at this job is coming to an end but first she has to go on a trip with her too-hot boss.
I’ve read this author before and enjoy her writing so this was an easy read for me, one I enjoyed too.
There is chemistry between these two and their story has plenty to keep you entertained, including a baddie…..
This book was published before but has a had an overhaul and fab new cover.
I will read more in this series.
The Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen
Brimstone Inc. #1
Water nymp Leia has worked for demigod Castor for about a year when she feels it may be time to move on even though there seems to be chemistry between them. Rumor is that he is unable to love again and she is immune to demigods…only rumors, I believe. When they go together to a wolf mating ceremony and she runs into a wolf-shifter from her past that is not a friend, well, things become complicated. What they have to deal with definitely requires paranormal abilities and has the potential of drawing them closer together or driving them apart.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? I think so
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled-Amara for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
This intriguing story will draw you in and have you wanting a demigod of our own. When Lyleia was head hunted by Brimstone Inc, she never expected that her boss would break through her defenses especially since she is blessed by the goddesses to withstand the charms of gods. This story with its mythological and paranormal composition will have you glued to the pages. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
The Demigod Complex is a wildly entertaining story of second changes and finding what we want in the most unlikeliest of places. Nothing is as good as finding our heart desire, but what trumps that is finding it right under our nose. When you least expect it, you find yourself tripping over it at every turn. There is no way you can deny it and yet you just aren’t sure about it. The only way to bring the truth to light is to lead its way with carefully laid breadcrumbs down a path that will at the end show you exactly what it means. Then, you just need to decide what do with it. Will you claim your heart, or will you let it go?
Leia has finally found a place where she finally feels valued and content. It has been such a long time since either of things were true, and she intends on keeping them that way. Unfortunately, a person from her past refuses to allow her to stay happy for long. Upending her life is the last thing she wants, but when her internal stalking alarms go off, she puts plans into motion to run far away. Castor has appreciated the good work and professionalism of his latest executive assistant. She is the best one he has had in a very long time, and he intends to keep her around for as long as he can. In fact, when he notices her behavior change, he tries to figure out what is going on as subtly as he can. When he finds something he wasn’t meant to read, he realizes that his personal feelings have been involved for a lot longer then he cares to admit. Will he fight to keep Leia in his life, or will he let her slip through his fingers for her safety?
This is such a fun story, and the characters you meet along the way are wonderfully developed and kept me enthralled the entire time. What a fabulous story line that kept me on my toes and let my imagination run wild! Leia and Castor stole my heart, and I was cheering for them the entire time. Love can’t be rushed, and it also can’t be contained in your heart without it bursting out and reaching the other person when they least expect it. Be open, be honest, and be bold with your love, your encouragement, and your hope.
Abigail Owen owned my heart after this story took it captive. Nothing could have stopped this raging hurricane that refused to stop and refused to be held at bay by caution. I savored every second of this marvelous adventure, and I look forward to more books in this fantastic series! What a beautiful and refreshing rush!
If you are looking for a light romance that has a good strong chemistry between its couple then this story ticks all the boxes. I loved that the author gave us a paranormal romance with a mythological twist. Leia is a Nymph but sadly she’s no longer bound to her own body of water and instead works as an assistant to a demigod. Castor has known love but after his wife died knew he could never love again so a Nymph who is oblivious to his Godlike charms is the perfect choice. Hmm slight problem with that idea because Castor is waking up to the idea that having Leia around forever is the perfect choice but she seems determined to leave him so he definitely will need to do something about that !
For me as much as I liked this I did feel I’d missed out on something. Perhaps there is a prequel that I’ve missed because a lot of the plot centres around a Shifter mating but I did enjoy it and it was a fun afternoon read.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
