I’ve been through hell to get to this place. To wear the perfect white dress and stand beside Royce Hale, the liar I tried desperately not to fall in love with and failed.Or maybe I’m still trapped in hell because the devil is here too. He lurks at my side, plotting terrible ways to make me his. It’s win at all costs in this family, and I know now just how far the Hales will go to get what they … to get what they want.
But you can’t survive in a house full of lies without learning the art of deception, and once I become a Hale, I’ll show them exactly what I’ve mastered.
THE DECEPTION is the conclusion to the captivating FILTHY RICH AMERICANS trilogy, which should be read following THE INITIATION and THE OBSESSION.

Once again Nikki Sloane delivers in her third book of the Filthy Rich American Series, The Deception. This nail-biting, heart-pounding final installment had me glued to my seat and kindle, taking in every word from the gorgeous cover to the final pages and acknowledgments. Put it simply…I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!
I literally wish I could just soak every last word in and then by some miracle more words would appear!
The Deception is not just a modern retelling of some of the most popular myths in Greek mythology; Sloane’s entire series is like a contemporary mythopoeia. Drawn into the lush and dark world of the Hales, its secrets and games come at a price and Marist is tossed between willing and unwilling sacrifice to win at all cost.
Marist’s prize? To unconditionally have and be with Royce Hale.
The Labyrinth-like plot kept me glued to the pages and there were very little hints to determine the end game.
Would Marist succumb to the jealous wrath of Alice?
Would the almighty Macalister Hale win Marist over?
Can Royce really outsmart his father, the conniving two-moves-ahead Macalister Hale?
And Marist, is she prepared to open Pandora’s box and deal with its fallout knowing she could possibly lose the love of her life in her quest to outsmart a god?
The Deception is a must read book, and the Filthy Rich Americans a must read series! Five Brilliant Stars!
Nikki Sloane has once again outdone herself in this intricately told narrative of wealth, greed, power and deception.
The epic conclusion to the Filthy Rich Americans series from Nikki Sloane is long-awaited and freaking fantastic! A little dark, a lot hot and with all kinds of drama, deceptions and twists. It will have any reader hanging on to the edge of their seat, clutching their kindle or book and yelling, “WHAT?” LOL! Satisfying and sooo worth the wait for this ending!
This deception was dazzling! 5 stars
What an epic, gasp-inducing, magical conclusion to this series! I gasped out loud during the prologue, and the roller-coaster of this book was on its way! Marist is such a bada$$ in this book! She took her power & wields it with precision. Both Royce and Macalister didn’t know what hit them when she wielded her power, and it was captivating to read. This whole series has been captivating to read, and it is one of my top reads of 2019. A review cannot do justice to this brilliant series that is Nikki Sloane’s best writing to date except to say that I highly recommend you let this series take you on a dazzling journey of Marist finding power and love with inside this filthy, rich American family.
What a fabulous and completely messed up family the Hales are! The Filthy Rich Americans trilogy has made for great reading, but The Deception is my favourite book of the trilogy. I was immediately caught up in the story from the prologue – Marist, Royce and Macalister had my complete attention from start to finish.
Macalister is one of those characters that you just love to hate, and he is constantly pushing boundaries. There were times where I felt equally anxious and uncomfortable with his actions, yet at the same time I couldn’t read fast enough to see what was coming up next.
AND MARIST! She has developed so much as a character across the series. The Hales exceed with deception and manipulation, and Marist is a Hale now, a Hale determined to put the lessons she has learned to good use. Royce has always been my choice between Father and Son, so I’ve been dying to read The Deception and see how the Father and Son battle for Marist’s love finishes in the end.
I was almost afraid to know the ending to this trilogy. But thank god for the ending! Or else I would be so disappointed.. Totally a great & explosive ending to the trilogy and I LOVED it! Totally devoured the book in just one sitting.
There’s a lot of suspense in this trilogy. You just don’t know what to expect would happen. Totally worth the read and if you haven’t read the trilogy, now you can binge read this one! It’s absolutely a twisted, overwhelming & great read!
Wow, this series was one magnificent one. Full of deception, lies and so much angst.
I never know where Nikki Sloane is going to take us with her stories, but she never ceases to amaze me.
A complete page turner that has you riveted from beginning to end.
The love story between Marist and Royce is one that I will not forget. I didn’t want to put my kindle down with so much going on with this book. Just when you thought things were going to slow down, something else happened and it was hard to stop reading.
I can’t express to you how much I love Nikki Sloane and her wonderful style of writing. She’s so damn talented and I will never tire of reading her stories.
The third book in the series and the book that ties it all in together!
This series has had me disbelieving everything that went on in this series. In my head all I was thinking when Marist or Royce or Macalister was saying was “you lie!!”!
I couldn’t trust anyone at all. Everyone has their own agenda. I distrusted everyone in this book. I didn’t know who was the good guy anymore and if there even was a good guy. I was royally effed up throughout this book and the whole series.
Only at the very end does the rollercoaster finally come to an end and you release your breath you’ve been holding since the first page of book one!!
Emotions like disbelief. Horror and awe will all come together in this unexpected ending.
Congratulations Nikki for the amazing ride!!
Nikki Sloane
This is the 3rd and final book in the Filthy Rich Americans series, and Nikki delivers a slam dunk! This book was simply amazing, wrapping up all of the plot twists and questions we had at the end of the second book.
In this story we find Marist coming into her own, wanting to get to the bottom of all the games and lies. She is thrown between the 2 Hale men, both wanting her for their own reasons, but she is unwilling to play that game anymore. She refuses to play the pawn anymore and has decided to take everything into her own hands. She intends to help Royce bring Macalister down, even if it means playing the games and telling the lies that Royce was so fond of in the first 2 books. Marist has learned from the best, and now it is time for her to shine!
This book delivers on so many levels. You get a lot of “didn’t see that coming!!” on top of all the games everyone seems to be playing. And that prologue!! Just wow! That prologue set the pace for the entire book! It left me sitting in my chair, mouth wide open, wondering what in the hell is really going on! In this book, Marist learns to play the Hale game, and she uses her new “win at all costs” motto to the fullest! It was awesome watching Marist come into her own, using her new found skills to bring the Minotaur down!
As the book went on, I found myself not sure who I really wanted Marist to side with. I understood that Royce was the Hero of this series, but you just cannot deny Macalister and his presence. I found myself, at times, hope Marist would give into the temptation and give Macalister everything he wanted from her. You could not deny their chemistry. It was almost as strong, if not stronger, then her chemistry with Royce! In the end, I can only hope that Macalister will get his own book and find the redemption he so deserves!
Riveting! This one will hook you from the first chapter. Carve out a long afternoon to read–you won’t want to come up for air.
The suspense and intrigue intensifies with The Deception. The final part in this brilliant series comes with more mystery, more heat, and more of Macalister Hale trying to dominate Marist and Royce’s relationship. I loved it!
It’s a cleverly written, intelligent, and fantastic read that you won’t want to miss.
I loved this wickedly twisted trilogy so much but I can honestly say that this 3rd book, The Deception was definitely my favorite!!! The Deception is the mind-blowing conclusion of the Filthy Rich American trilogy focusing on the wedding of Royce Hale and Marist Honeycutt, if Royce will successfully overthrow his father as the head of their banking empire, and will MacAlister succeed in luring Marist away from Royce. This book revolves around power, deception, lust, circling around the edges of depravity, and winning at all costs. The twists were even more shocking than in the other two books but so, so good!!! I really can’t say enough about how much I loved how far Marist & Royce have evolved in their relationship. You will definitely want to 1 click this entire series!!!
The Saga has come to an end. I was so eager to get my hands on the the final book, even though that meant that it’ll be the last one. The wait was more than worth it since Nikki Sloan gave us an ending to remember!!
The book may be titled “The Deception” but Mcalister’s obsession is still going strong. The plot was more about him and Marist rather than her and Royce. My feelings towards Mcalister was a mess, just like Marist’s. One time he is his ruthless self and the next he shows her a part of him than noone else sees. Royce kept giving out mixed vibes and I didn’t know what to do think and how to feel about him until the end.
The story is filthy, sexy, full of deception and an obsession so powerful that is pouring through the pages. There are twists and turns in every chapter, and secrets agendas are being revealed. I don’t believe than anyone could see this ending coming; I know I didn’t!!
The “Filthy Rich Americans” are definitely my favorite series of the year and I couldn’t be more grateful to the author for giving us this story. If you are looking for a gripping, dark story full of suspense and passionate characters then this series is definitely for you!!!
I adore this author’s books. I LOVED this trilogy when it started. The Initiation was so good! The Obsession wasn’t horrible, but this book 3, did not hold a candle in comparison. It was so rushed and way more involved with Greek myth than the other two. I was intrigued to see how things concluded but I felt the story was left lacking some of the oomph Nikki Sloane usually brings..
However, the sex scenes was were hot! I admit to skipping pages to get passed a badly written sex scene.. I actually read this one!
Despite my rating for this story, I do love this author and I am anxious for what she writes next!
3.5 Stars
This is the third and final book in the Filthy Rich Americans series and it was a good conclusion to the story. It definitely has some great twists and turns throughout the story that kept it interesting. The story picks up right where the dramatic conclusion of book two ended. I did get my answers to the questions I had from the previous books. With the nature of the story I felt like the author played it safe with how things played out. I really want more dramatics, more nail biting, edge of my seat drama. Overall, it was a very middle of the road book. I enjoyed some parts and wanted more during others but I definitely wanted more.
I literally can’t even…
Nikki took me on a rollercoaster ride with this series.
I legit had about 27 mini anxiety attacks reading this series and I loved every min of it!
I was so drawn to this story and it lived up to every expectation that I had. It was drama, suspense, filthy hotness, and some romance mixed up in there.
You never really know if you should be rooting for Royce and Marist or not, even up until the end you start to second guess yourself.
There are so many dirty hot filthy things happening in this book that it will make you blush…but you’ll keep reading cuz you have to make it to the next dirty scene…LOL
My suggestion to you is to #OneClick this entire series right now if you have not…it’s a must read. It’s a top 5 series of all time for me. I think I am now aspiring to be a Nyx in my next life 😉

5.5 Amazing Stars!
All Hail the Hales!
I had been nervously awaiting the highly anticipated release of The Deception, the final book in the Filthy Rich American Trilogy, all thanks to the shocking cliffhanger in the previous story. I felt like a six year-old child waiting for Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy to arrive on the same day, not knowing what to expect, just knowing something HUGE was waiting to be revealed. I had my doubts, if I’m being honest, the previous two books had been so superbly well written that I was afraid to start reading The Deception, once I had it on my Kindle, afraid the ending to this series wouldn’t live up to the hype I had created in my head. Thank goodness I was not disappointed. It. Was. Sublime! This series will be included in my #TopRead2019 List.
“I was Marist Hale on the outside, the perfect goddess, ready to rule alongside the other Olympians. And inside, I was the master Medusa, preparing to take my victims.”
I’m afraid of how Ms. Sloane’s mind works, she can plot and plan like a criminal mastermind; this story is a perfect example of how she could plan something sinister and get away scot-free, the attention to detail is amazing. No detail too small and each move was coldly calculated, to ensure she won the endgame, whispering softly ‘Checkmate’ and leaving us feeling thunderstruck. And what an end it was! I had no words afterwards, just a feeling of contentment knowing all was just and right in the world.
“Even monsters are capable of love, Medusa.”
I really don’t want to go into details, I hate spoilers, and by now everyone knows this is not a Standalone, and you must read the previous two stories to know what’s going on in this one. Just know that this story will make you question everything you thought you knew about the Hale family.
“Misfortune had brought me into the family, and now tragedy bound us together forever.”
I had my misgivings about the Hale men. I was conflicted, not knowing if Royce was really who Marist thought he was, and Macallister had me questioning what side was up or down. Was he a good guy? Or was he the bad one? Actions spoke louder than words and I don’t know how Marist could make a decision, trusting her heart, when so much was at stake. And when it was all said and done, I have to admit, I fell deeply in love with Macallister!
“Macallister wasn’t just two moves ahead of Royce—he’d already won.”
Marist showed us how to play with the big boys, not losing sight of the prize, and calculating every last move, as if her life depended on it. And in a way it did.
“You, Marist, are the only thing in this world I’ve ever wanted—that I wasn’t sure I was going to get.”
If you’re looking for a deliciously sexy, suspenseful, and twisty love story, you won’t want to miss this conclusion to the Filthy Rich Americans trilogy!
Wow…….
What what an incredible ride this was.
I LOVED this series and I just don’t know what else to say, other than I need these books on my shelf.
This book was the perfect conclusion to this story. However I know I’ll miss these characters so much! Oh! Also, Nikki Sloane, only you can make me love and lust over such horrible villain of a man like Macalister Hale! Haha
The real hero in this entire story is Marist Northcott, the heroine. She is 100% #goals. Her resilience, determination, and her take at the Hale trademark phrase, “win at all costs”, left me breathless.
This was an epic, EPIC series. I cannot recommend it enough……5 million stars!!
This entire story was one insane ride and this book was the craziest of them all.
I am back to loving Marist. She was the hero of this book and I am so so happy with her arch. She can single handedly conquer nations and no one will be able to defy her. It was a stark difference from the last book and I am just so relieved with how her character developed.
I wanted more from Royce but I just can’t love him the way I loved Marist. He is okay throughout the series but I honestly won’t miss him much.
Macallister THO!!! Can we all just agree that this man is absolutely mental but at the same time hella attractive?? I know I’m insane but man the way Nikki wrote him in this book just made me fall in his trap. It’s a love hate relationship but I am here for it.
I was absolutely invested in this book from page one. I knew things were going to get out of hand and boy did they. There are some crazy insane twists and nothing could have prepared me for that climax. I have a feeling that this is not the END end so I am really hopeful to see more stories in this universe.
4 Stars!
Between the fucking prologue and the what am i reading right now ending … *blink* so yeah, that happened!
Between the fucking prologue and the what am i reading right now ending … *blink* so yeah, that happened!
This trilogy was genuinely unexpected at every turn. The blatant manipulation of the plot was awe-inspiring. I have never been so incredibly captivated by every word in a journey. I didn’t want to miss a thing. My mind was in constant overload. It was glorious and exhausting and worth every minute of my time. I saw nothing coming around any corner. I know what I wanted to happen but I had no clue if it would until it did … or did it??? Hmmmmmmm
That’s all you get *evil laugh* because there are going to be future readers reading this before they even begin the trilogy and I’m not going to be the one to ruin the epic story! However, I do want to say one more tiny thing … If you’ve read this trilogy and are 100% convinced you know the romantic conclusion of who/what/where/when … convince me because I’m not 😉
